The roasted brussels sprouts would make a believer out of anyone who claims they do not like brussels sprouts. Bits of ham in a balsamic reduction. Garlic mashed potatoes were a golden treat, creamy, with the right amount of garlic. Mac and cheese, wow, a pinkish color, but so creamy, cheesy and buttery. Wish I knew how to make them. Easy to follow directions for reheating. Ordered enough for two. It was perfect.

I have had great caterers before, but UTO goes above and beyond to serve a 5 star meal. I worked with Lara for over a month for a meal for around 50 people. She helped me make the perfect decision. We went with the filet, chicken piccata, roasted vegetable's, garlic mashed potatoes and 3 passed appetizers of chicken and waffles, crab cakes and shrimp ceviche. The southern salad was one of the most delicious salads I ever had. The shrimp ceviche was my fav thing of all. But every single item was perfect. I have never heard so many people say how good the food was. The servers and bartenders were great, too. I would definitely use them again! Loved it!

For dessert we had honey bun cake and vanilla cream cake. Both were sizable and very good. The honey bun cake was so good it rivals my sister's (don't tell her that)! The dessert portions were so big, we couldn't eat it all and had them to go. Very nice place with great atmosphere and excellent service. A real southern jewel in Farmville. I'll be back ... and I'm bringing my sister.

Food Truck Rodeo Stop #1: Funky Fresh Food Truck…read more After reading the descriptions of the tacos at this food truck I was extremely excited to give it a try. An order of two tacos is $10, there were three options available: Tuna, Duck and Pork Belly. Since the rodeo was just starting and there was not a long line we were able to get a tuna and pork belly taco in our order, score! The ingredients were fresh, the tuna taco contained a mango peach salsa, honey chipotle aioli and cilantro lime slaw. Unfortunately the tacos were not as flavorful as I was hoping but I did like the funky freshness that this food truck had to offer.

The chicken and fish entrees where both seasoned well and the zucchini actually had like a hint of tea or something we couldn't put our finger on but it was great. They had a few amazing deserts also, a key lime pie and a chess pie. Both of which were homemade and rich. Next time your having a special event in NC consider Funky Fresh to cater your event.

You can smell the barbecue smoke getting up to the third floor, and it immediately gets the appetite going. They set up an awesome buffet loaded with delicious options. I'm talking cheesy and NOT DRY mac and cheese, perfectly golden and amazing hush puppies, juicy fried chicken, tender pulled pork, BBQ pork chops with tons of flavor and amazing chicken thighs. The salad bar is fresh and perfect for something lighter on the side. The hush puppies and Mac and cheese were serious standouts. Cornbread was ok, and the peach cobbler was a great close to the meal. Beyond the food, the views looking right out over the strip are amazing. They have a great bar to sit back and relax, and the service is super friendly and welcoming from the moment you walk in. It's easily one of the coolest fly-in spots around for a laid-back meal. I'd come back.

On a trip back home to NC I decided to see what the hype was all about at Mother Earth Motor Lodge. When we arrived my daughter had a look of concern because it didn't look like our usual hotel choice. Check-in was super easy and the front desk person (can't recall his name) was very friendly...love Southern hospitality. I reserved a double-double suite. The suite was so cute with the 1960s vibe. We had a view of the pool which was surrounded by palm trees...in NC The room was super clean and the beds were quite comfortable. We had a great experience and the hotel is located in the downtown area so we were close to restaurants. We will surely stay again especially when the weather is warmer and we can take advantage of the pool and other outdoor amenities. Moral to this review....NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER.
