In the interest of full disclosure, I really didn't care about having a videographer for our…read morewedding. I figured a photographer would be sufficient and I couldn't really wrap my mind around the added expense especially given how uncomfortable I anticipated being the center of attention. I loathed the idea of being filmed, assuming each shot would be of me looking strained and awkward every time I saw the camera. Also, most wedding videos look so forced and "wedding-y" that they just seem insincere. Suffice it to say, I have never been happier to be wrong in my life. Aside from being a gifted videographer, Evan Olman is an extraordinary individual. He has the best temperament, no bull-shit, and he just exudes positivity. By being so chill and awesome himself, Evan reminded everyone to just enjoy the weekend in all its glory! He was forthcoming from the very beginning in getting an idea of what we wanted and how we operated so that he could do his best to make us comfortable. He also ran all over the place to multiple locations with his equipment in tow, smiling all the while with joyful reassurances. Without a doubt, Evan was our favorite guest! And then on new year's day, the highlight video arrived. I'm still reeling from how incredible it turned out. Evan captured the most incredible moments that still take my breath away. I can't get over how much time he must have spent editing the video. He created a piece that truly reflects us and our "formality be damned, devil may care" attitude so that, in my sisters words, there's nothing douchey or trite about it. Per our loved ones, watching it makes you feel just as spectacular as we did in the moment. It is a treasure. This video is the greatest gift. I'll never be able to thank Evan for all of his hard work and creativity! Honestly he could charge double/triple and it would still be well worth it all. So don't be stupid. Hire Evan! Seriously, dude, he's magic.

He was very knowledgeable even with helping me set up my Yamaha as a DAW controller, learning and then teaching me very quickly how to use the functions compared to the several years that I tried to learn this myself (but giving up every 5 minutes haha) Although his genre of expertise is EDM, he was really helpful in identifying instrument packs as well as navigating Splice find certain 808s instruments (for hip-hop) and loops and teaching me a bit about presets versus other sound features. As with any instructor, it is best to start to develop a list of specific questions and try a couple different things outside of your comfort zone to work on between sessions.

The problem is, the course structure is all over the place and hard to follow. But the biggest issue for me was the refund. I tried heaps of times to get my money back because I wasn't happy, and according to their own policy, I was totally in the right. Still, they didn't honor the guarantee at all. Honestly, it felt almost like a scam since the only reason I bought it at that high price was because I trusted the refund promise. If you want my advice, Harderclass is a way better course--more organized and actually reliable when it comes to stuff like refunds.
