For those who might not know, "estate agent" is similar to what Americans might call "realtor", though I don't know if these people are similarly licensed and I have no idea if there is anything like an MLS in the UK. Regardless, I needed a flat ("apartment") for a few months and Haslam's was one of the few that replied to my email. After taking my specifications (price, neighborhood, number of bedrooms, etc.), Haslam's set up an appointment for me to view two of their listed flats. The first one was nice, but it overlooked a rather busy street and I thought it would be too noisy. The second one looks out over a quiet and pretty back garden with a double door though no balcony. It has all the appliances I needed (Brits seem to like drying their clothes on a drying rack rather than an electric clothes dryer!) and a modern look and feel. Recently refurbished, it looks great and the furniture was good. I took it on the spot. Unfortunately, there's an approval process where they have to get a credit and background check, which meant another week in the hotel for me. Eventually, the paperwork came back and I met them in their office to go over the remaining details. Everything was explained well and my questions were answered, so I took possession and paid my remainder. Stay away!!! Unprofessional and rude staff. Unacceptable high fees. In check out they charged us with every single small scratch, even scratches to wall for tear and wear. I was laughing trying to understand what these people do to steal money from tenants and support the landlord in any way. Absolutely disgusting.These guys charge reference fees even if someone move from one property to another while both properties managed from the themselves !!! (I know this for fact). Its a joke! My partner and i have been renting from Haslam's letting agents for just under a year now. As you may expect, during the viewing/deposit taking process they were most helpful, always in contact with us and couldn't do enough for us. Unfortunately this stopped the day we moved in. We have had an ongoing problem with the property for just under a year now. The total amount of times we have contacted them, making them aware of the problem is over 10. Every time we e-mail or call they reply with a 'promise' that its their highest priority and they are sorting it that day, and then another 4,5 or 6 weeks go by with no word from them until we feel we have to contact them yet again. And after all this they even had the cheek to tell us it was our problem so we would have a fix it. I would not recommend renting from Haslam's. Considering you are giving them hundreds of pounds per month they offer no service what so ever and simply blame the landlord/landlady to evade any further action on there part. Very disappointing as they have some lovely property's in the portfolio. But renting from an estate agents should give you the assurance that if anything should go wrong, they are there to put it right. This is not the case read more

I had one of the worst experience with HASLAMS.. after charging hefty 375 GBP as a administration fee...i was told would be move into flat in a week time... eventually it took more than two weeks time for verification process and other process..... (I don't know why would it take that time...while the flat was vacation and ready to move in...).. i had to stay at hotel till that time. I opted for a fully furnished house and i was told that all the amenitis are working.. Only after I moved in, I realized there were several issues in the flat which I was not told.. the washing machine was not working, kitchen tap is loose and sprinkles water all around, shower knob not working.. utensil had a breakage, lift does not work etc.. etc.. It had been a nightmare for me to chase them every day call-after-call, mail-after-mail and it took almost 2-3 weeks to get these issues sorted.. I could not see the staff co-operative and do not respond to emails/ calls even if the issue is urgent - it happened many a times and have go to their office to get things moving. I had to take care and inform them about all the previous outstanding bills as well - as after moving to few days inside the apartemnt, I got postal mail from electricy and water supplies would be disconnected in few days if the previous outstanding is not paid. They are so careless and their internal communication is pathetic - totally not reliable. I am really not sure if all the customers of haslams are facing the similar issue - but I definitely would not recommend haslams given my experience. read more

It took 2.5 years for us to realize how Haslams would screw us. Never delayed rent, been all good but the landlord became greedy all of sudden and wanted us to increase the rent (it had already been increased the same year in accordance with the tenancy agreement. Landlord wanted to increase 120£ more mid agreement. That too without any written notice they wanted us to either evict or accept the new rent. The first phone call informing about the landlords decision was full of threats about going to court if we do not comply. This tone was adopted by them without being challenged at all. Haslams made it clear that they do not watch the tenants interest because the landlord us the one paying them. So all tenants , if your landlord brings up an issue, accept 0% assistance form Haslams. The property had appliances which are 13 years old so during our stay the boiler and taps were not fixed for about a year, when finally they changed the boiler, the dishwasher stopped working and the part took a month to arrive. The washing machine was replaced in 5 weeks. With kids the dirty laundry was touching the roof. We never complained and were grateful. completely let down by agents we respected.
