The staff here is incredibly. My dogs see Dr. Springer for their annual checkups and we…read more(unfortunately) have also had to make a few emergency visits, so it is great that it is 24-hours. The staff is always super helpful and friendly to work with for admin purposes (scheduling, billing, etc.). If I ever have a question if I should bring my dogs in for something, the staff is very responsive to emails and phone calls. This came in handy the other day when my dog had a bump/bite on her belly. I emailed the office, unsure if it was something that needed immediate treatment, and got a quick response back letting us know it could be monitored from home. I appreciate that the standard response wasn't that we needed to come in. Some places make you come in no matter what, but it is helpful to have a vet that ease our concerns so we don't spend extra money for non-emergency appointments over small things. It really eases my anxiety as a dog mom knowing I have the Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center nearby who will take care of my dogs in any situation.

The hospital drained it, treated it as an abscess, prescribed medication, and sent us home. I trusted that diagnosis and followed the instructions I was given. When the wound continued to drain and did not heal, I took her to my regular veterinarian. I specifically told them that this hospital had diagnosed it as an abscess, so naturally my vet was treating her based on the information I had been given and my concern that she needed additional treatment. It was eventually discovered that the "abscess" was actually cancer -- fibrosarcoma. My cat ultimately required an amputation. What has made this experience even more frustrating is how my concerns were handled when I contacted the hospital. I requested a refund because I feel that the original diagnosis and treatment deserve to be addressed. Instead of actually addressing my concerns, I was repeatedly told that my regular veterinarian performed the same tests and gave the same treatment. I explained multiple times that my veterinarian did so because I had been told by THIS hospital that my cat had an abscess. I trusted the diagnosis I was given. That distinction seemed to be completely ignored. I understand that medicine is not always straightforward and that mistakes can happen. What I expected was for my concerns to be taken seriously and for the hospital to acknowledge why I was dissatisfied with the care my cat received. Instead, I felt like the conversation was focused on defending the hospital rather than listening to what actually happened. It was an extremely unprofessional and unnecessary conversation. She was wrong in every aspect. I've talked to many others that have had bad experiences here. Had the hospital just admitted their wrongs and did the right thing, this review would not exist. Morals are low at this place.
