The first was teak about 4 years ago, and more recently, a standard chair from a dining set made in China. Coincidentally, both chairs were broken at the same location (just above the seat on the back). Both repairs were spectacular. The teak was perfect (and it needed to be as the repaired section was open to full view). The chair made in China had a break which was covered by fabric. During the repair process the fabric covering the break had to be removed. Brian had made photos of the break (with the fabric removed as well the repair process to show how it was resolved). On the second job a mistake was made in the installation. A replacement was ordered and the installer came to install it 7 weeks later (2 weeks of that delay was my doing). This replacement part was ordered incorrectly so it could not be installed. It is now 5 weeks from that day and I still do not have an ETA for when the 2nd replacement will be installed. Do not expect them to put a high priority on getting a job completed even when the mistake is theirs.

After shopping around and getting a few quotes, we realized that the same carpet is going to cost roughly the same amount at any place you go. As for pricing, one place isn't going to be much better than the next, so it comes down to how good the contractor is who does the installation. The carpet is what it is, but how it is installed can make all the difference. We finally decided on BFC because they gave us solid dates for installation and a solid guarantee that we would be satisfied with how the work was done. In the end, we were quite happy with the installation. Our complicated staricase looked fine (that was our biggest concern) and the worker did a nice job of cleaning up after he was done - a two day job. What I can't believe is that this guy did the entire job by himself(!?!?). I wasn't home, so I didn't see how he hauled those giant rolls of carpet up a flight of stairs, and hauled the old stuff down...all by himself! It's been about a month since the installation and so far, it's all holdling together and looks great.
