    Croc strips!
    Rachel S.

I've come here a few times on various occasions. I like it hear because they always play NBA games. They also do "4th of July" specials and have some nice beers/ciders. On the 4th of July, they had chili cheese fries for 8 bucks, which were yummy but a little small. They also had chili dogs and chicken wings. Came here for lunch with my coworkers. We got Onion rings and "Croc strips" for the table to share. Crocodile wasn't as bad as I thought, tasted like a cross between chicken and calamari. Guess anything breaded and deep fried will taste good. The onion rings were also tasty. Three of us girls ordered the haloumi burger - pesto, cheese, mushrooms and tomatoes. Everyone else ordered burgers and chicken sandwiches and one person got a beef pie. The haloumi was unfortunately cold and not the burger wasn't very tasty. The fries were cooked nicely though. Overall a cool pub, just ordered the wrong thing. The menu is basically pub food, mostly burgers, sandwiches, fried foods and some dessert. Good for beer, maybe a bit average for food.

We came here for the bottomless drinks lunch and it was a fantastic experience! This a cute pub loCated in the Rocks. You could tell the building was old but that was the whole point. We reserved our lunch ahead of time. We had two hours to drink whatever we wanted. We ordered the wings small size as an entree(appetizer) and got it half spicy and half their house sauce. These wings were delicious. The spicy sauce is a Franks red hot sauce and the house sauce was a teriyaki flavored kind of sauce. Not sure what the dipping sauce was but it was so good! My fiancé and I ordered the steak with salad and both got mashed potatoes with red wine jus. It was sooooo good! The steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare, so flavorful and paired well with the creamy mashed potatoes! You go up to the counter/ bar to order which made everything easy. I definitely recommend this place!

Tasty burger with fresh chips wen well with the beer

Great pub in The Rocks. We went there twice while visiting Sydney. Once just for beer and another time for beer and food. It is in a converted house so it has a few different rooms to relax in and have a drink. They also have rooms upstairs and an outside beer garden. They have beer from Rocks Brewing on tap so it was great to try some local beer. It can get pretty busy in the evenings. Seems to be a hangout for locals after work. We were still able to find a seat in one of the many rooms. We split a burger and while you don't have the option to order how it was cooked, it was very good. Chips were hot and fresh. Fun pub in a cool setting.

Throughout this year I have regularly been at this pub, though it is usually for a 1-2 pint pit-stop than a full blown Sunday sesh. This is also the reason that I haven't eaten here this year, because I literally have my 2 drinks and continue on my merry little way to the next pub down the line. What I find great about this pub is the quirky "old English style" tea rooms, which offer small groups some privacy whilst not cutting them off totally from the rest of the pub atmosphere. I'm pretty sure I spied some board games in one of the rooms too, which could be interesting after downing a couple of ales. Naturally being a brew pub the beers are top notch. I usually plump for a pint of the Hangman's Pale Ale and I'm never disappointed. It always goes down a treat. The staff are friendly and the service is pretty fast though it can be a little neglected by patrons because some people just don't know the place exists. It's not exactly on the main drag. It also should be noted that weekend arvos are a far more relaxed affair than Friday suits after work. There is an outdoor section upstairs to enjoy the sunshine and/or for smokers.

This is one of those must visit pubs in the Rocks. Okay, it may not be on the main strip, but it is still worth checking out, if only for their large collection of house brewed beers. They do have a pretty decent selection, which can be a little mystifying at times, but at least the staff are more than happy to give you a recommendation, or if not that, at least a couple of samples to try before you buy (though do remember to wash it down with water). The prices may not be the cheapest, and it does get really crowded on a Friday afternoon (though that seems to the the standard here in Sydney, especially with the good pubs) but it is certainly a place worth checking out. Oh, and the upstairs bar (which I discovered is a lot less packed) has a heap of beer bottles on the back wall with candles sticking out of them. Apparently at night they are lit.

What can I say.... this beer was also awesome..

I have to agree with Dom, Harts is all about the beer. I have been here quite a few times (taking advantage of their 5pm happy hour) and enjoyed more than a few pints. What is really good about this pub is that you can order a tasting board of beer. The only thing that stops me from rating this place higher is that the last time I went there, the burger that I had there (and I really love a good burger) was almost inedible. Just tasted burnt and was really lacking the high standard that I would expect at Harts. This is not going to stop me going back of course, but next time I might (as per Dom's suggestion) try the lamb.

Situated in The Rocks, Harts Pub is a quaint English pub with beautifully restored federation architecture. It also contains a microbrewery (The Rocks Brewing company) that produces a small, but quality selection of craft beer. The offerings on the tap changes regularly. Though I didn't eat when I was at harts, the food did look appetizing and a bit more sophisticated than what you would expect at a regular pub. There were dishes with unique names like The Hangman's Noose (a pasta dish) and Hart's Stopper Steak Sandwich. I went for drinks last Friday night for the best hour of the day: Happy Hour! Happy hour at Hart's is from 5PM-7PM, when you can enjoy a beer for around $5 a glass. I opted for one of their home-brewed blonde beer, which was crisp and refreshing. I believe it was called called The Governer's Golden Ale. On a beautiful afternoon, make sure to sit outside on their beautiful terrace on the top floor. Smoking is allowed up here, too.

Visited this place on a Friday lunch and got the pulled pork burger with the waffle fries upgrade along with the recommended beer. The food took a while to arrive, but it was delicious. There's lots of interesting quotes on the wall which are worth walking around reading.

The best hot wings in Sydney

Without a doubt, the best wings I've had in Sydney. For what it's worth, I'm a Canadian who imports Frank's Hot Sauce as I'm of the opinion that hot wings should not taste like ketchup. Unfortunately they've recently changed their menu and eliminated the Friendship Burger, and whomever is cooking now has changed the spices in the burger. "It tastes like a taco" is the feedback I heard. They had a fantastic thing going, and in this case, change is bad.

Being close to where I used to work, I'd frequent this place quite a bit, and before it was a PJs it was a mates fave city pub so we'd catch up over a few here from time to time. There's a pretty good mix of people in the street-level bar, and PJs have converted it into more of a sports bar so there are plenty of screens for the sports nuts to check out their favourite teams prospects. PJs typically have pretty good fare. In winter they have two absolute cracking dishes. The Guiness Pie with mushy peas, and their signature lamb shanks which is totally unctuous. Why such a modest score? Price kills the place. It's not one of the cheaper places to get a beer as someone incorrectly states in their tips, it's easily one of the most expensive places to get a beer. You're paying over the top prices for domestic tap beer. A cheap beer is $5 for a Coopers Pale Ale, which you can get on the same street about 200m up the road... Also... As much as I enjoy a good pokie section, this one ain't good. And by that I mean the clientelle. It brings in the undesireable types, and sours what is otherwise a sweet pub. The snug, the downstairs den, has a great looking bar, and "snug" seating, but it's kinda pointless down there. It doesn't feel snug, it feels stuffy and claustrophobic - and the bar has never been manned when I've been down there. Now, if they moved the pokies to the snug, and then opened up the entire bar at the street-level to include the room vacated by the pokie section, you'd have something. But why would they do that when they can get by with what they have.

Being in the city, it can get quite busy very quickly and is a decently sized basement multi-storied pub. TV screens are usually are usually playing Fox sports or something similar. I order the Parmy, just to be on the the safe side. I wasn't too game to try the Pie which is supposed to be one of the best (as judged by Irish people I work with) around. The food is carefully prepared and you can tell the produce is quality and they've cooked it properly which some pubs sometimes struggle to do consistently... The chips were the standout side, crisp and crunchy! Definitely will be trying the stew or pie, that is if I'm brave enough to.
