We've been going to the 5th Street location for 25 years now and always gotten good service, but on Monday, March 9, 2026 my son took our 2007 Jetta to have brake work and get new rear shocks and struts. Upon leaving he found he suddenly had to push the brake pedal all the way to the floor to get the brakes to engage. Did they forget to bleed the brake lines? Also, it looks like they didn't even install the new shocks, even though they charged him for them on the invoice! read more

I came here after a highly being recommended to go here by someone to purchase tires and wheel alignment! He was precisely correct. This place was excellent. I could see the manager was busy, but he worked all customers as if they were the only one....very rare for a Tire place. I noticed nobody tried to upsell me but gave me exactly what I was looking for, even recommending something perhaps a little less expensive. I told the rep that I was in a hurry and needed to be in and out of there in 45 minutes, he had me out of there precisely on time. I left this place a delighted customer. I was so impressed by their service that I called the manager, Matt, later in the day to thank him for his store's excellent service personally. In a competitive market, pricing and service are essential, and these folks are delivered in both departments. Based on my personal experience, I hope to be back again for future auto needs! 75% of the time they get it right... but whenever they screw up its kinda embarrassing ....have bought several sets of tires from them over the years...never was really 100% pleased.. They broke an abs sensor on my Acura rdx installing shocks Although the did replace the part for free...they guy was told before doing the work... to not hang the brake calipers by the sensors...he did anyway breaking one...2018 Other shop in 29s and in Forest...I refuse to use any more...messed up rear brakes on a leased Ford Ranger truck, leaving me stranded in NC...waiting on parts all day...est 2010...everything in rear brakes had to be replaced...wrong shoes installed..destroyed drums and hardware..cost over $1250 to correct Messed up oil change on leased ford focus..used incorrect weight and type of oil...resulting in getting it changed again..2010... Same shop installed brake calipers backwards on my 2005 NISSAN sentra...resulting in extreme brake noise..and complete tear down w new pads to fix...around 2016...cost set of pads...around $30 plus labor Forest shop installed one front oem strut after an accident On 1996 NISSAN SENTRA SER...years ago...car could not even drive down road straight..opposite side was broken also..after reinstalling tires correctly, replacing bent rim, eventually shop downtown, agreed to redo the work with 2 new struts...in around 2003...incorrect struts destroyed a set of tires bought at their shop, they refused to cover...out $500.00 For tires they are just ok...anything else...best to shop someplace else .. I even sold parts to them when I worked at oreillys...what a messed up account...about 35% of parts were sent back as they did not even know what they were working on.. In one case a chevy traverse...another shop installed incorrect struts on .....Harris corrected...but not without sway bar end links and a labor bill of over $650.00 to r&r 2 quick struts...a 3 hour job at best...my company paid bill...but never again Just cannot recommend...over and over they have screwed up the simplest repair jobs...resulting in substantial.time and money lost... read more

Dropped off my truck Friday after hours and had them on and done by 9 am the next morning. I dealt with Jerry and he did a great job. Even nitrogen filled my tires for no extra cost. This place has saved us. We had a horrible experience with the Marathon/Kerr Tire on Boonsboro. Spent thousands of dollars unnecessarily and gave it to a nasty ice cold owner who took no responsibility for a car that broke down further every time we drove it off the premises. Harris Tire is honest, decent and friendly. Since the experience with Marathon I have told everyone I know about it and found that not only did multiple people ALSO have a bad experience with Marathon, they ALSO now go to Harris Tire. Great, friendly staff. Put 4 new tires on and an oil change for a good price, they took the car in right away, and put paper mats down to prevent getting dirt on the floor mats. The waiting area had antique automotive parts and pictures of downtown Lynchburg in it, which was interesting, also they had a box full of weird things they have found in flat tires which was funny, I like waiting rooms with cool stuff to look at. I scheduled an oil change but when my husband showed up they could not find the appointment in their system. We had to reschedule it for two weeks later. The oil change was supposed to be at 9 am but they were late in their schedule and did not start the service until 9:45. And this just after my complaint for waiting. I do not recommend this place if you have a busy working schedule. Besides, our tire change took last fall 4 hours!!! I will not visit this place anymore. The only positive I can say about Harris tire is that they have a guest WiFi. read more

Customer service is nonexistent. Dropped my car off at 10 am to be inspected. Came back at 12:45 (they close at 1 pm) and they "thought they got to it" but hadn't and did not offer to do it. They wasted my time and my car has still not been inspected. This place was recommended by several people whose opinions I trust. I'll be sure to let them all know my experience. I have been dealing with Tommy Harris and Harris Tire on 5th Street for more than 25 years and never had a complaint. Friendly and knowledgeable employees who do the job and do it right at a fair price. I've been fortunate to have "outlived" many of those great employees from years past that I knew at the 5th St location, but I still take my car there for oil changes, state inspection, auto repair, and tires. You may rest assured that as long as I own an automobile, I will be dealing with Harris Tire Company! read more

THIS PLACE PREYS ON SINGLE WOMEN. I bought a new set of tires expecting them to last 75k. I was told after 31k miles that I needed a new set because of excessive wear. I brought my car in and at each oil change had my tires rotated/balanced 3k/6k. It seems they never aligned them when I bought them. I would never turn down a basic service like that since an alignment cost what I make per hour. This is a tire place- why wouldn't they suggest an alignment? I was told they would give me a 'nice deal' of $12 off per new tire and they didn't tell me about my warranty so HARRIS could cash in on that. I ended up with a $60 credit per tire. Had I thrown on the tires and didn't have routine care every 3k miles I could kind of understand. These people lied to me about other service I had there too. I was told I need a radiator (now I wonder) and since my AC was going I should replace both at the same time because if I did not one system would contaminate another. That is a lie. read more

I've been taking my cars there for oil changes and minor repairs for the last 3-4 years. They may be a little more expensive than other places, but their service seems to be thorough and fast. They also provide transportation back to work/home so you don't have to wait. No complaints. read more
