Fun place to visit and walk around. I took the dogs here since it was close to home but I will mention that there are actually a lot of people walking about. Street parking was also very limited. From here, you can walk over to Raspberry island too.

A little Irish music on the Mississipi on Harriet Island!

A geat place to go by the Mississippi River..what a nice park! Lots of seating (benches, picnic areas), open space and some newly placed sculptures that kids are encouraged to climb and play on.There was some riverboats that you board here, playground, pavilion for rent, great skyline views and plenty of biking, hiking, etc. type activities. Love coming here in August to visit the awesome Irish Fair...which is free! Amazing music and concert. So much fun and dancing. Good food!!! Love!

Very nice park in St Paul. Very well kept up and has good parking. I have been here for walking around the park and for going on a river cruise which leave from this area. Have never had any complaints. The trails are nice for walking or running. The park had great views along the river really anywhere. This is a great spot if you want to get some photos taken! They also have a decent sized playground as well. I have also seen people fishing before around the park. I don't know if they had good luck or not! It can be hard to get to from the main road, but once you go there once it is very easy. They have a nice parking lot by where the cruises board. Overall a good park for many different activities! Come see at at night for an awesome view of the city!

I would normally give this a 5, but the overly serious park police tool who gave J&I two scooter parking tickets back in the day lost the 5th star. What a prick! Apparently there were no segways to pull over that day. Our scooters were parked in a spot that was apparently too close to a handicapped parking stall. There were no lines, it was a small space and it wasn't in the handicapped spot. There were plenty of other ones so we figured since it was a small spot with no marking we wouldn't take up a whole parking spot. We even parked them single file. Trying to reason with Mr. Park tool-io was a lost cause, he wouldn't budge. He gave us some song and dance about how he had to. Yah, whatever.... Well we got it taken care of at the city and Mr. Tool filled it out wrong so it was void. HA! Take that...you tool! Other than that almost $300 dollar experience.... This is such a great part of St. Paul and such a great outdoor park. We enjoy coming in the Summer time or whenever it's nice out for a picnic, to walk around or take the nieces and nephews to the play area. -Plenty of areas either lawn or picnic table to sit and lunch. -Plenty of free parking not requiring a permit or sticker. -Nice walkways and stairs going down to the water. -Bathrooms (so- so, but far better than the portable ones) -Great scenery

This is a great place to go down by the Mississippi. Lots of seating (benches, picnic areas), open space and some newly placed sculptures that kids are encouraged to climb and play on. If you're into fishing, you have multiple options here; you can head down to the docks closer to Raspberry Island or go off the beaten path onto the sandy beach of the Mississippi. I particularly enjoy night fishing here as it's quiet and the lights from downtown cast a warm glow on the water. We've caught multiple types of bass, catfish and pike but anticipate a lot of sheephead snags. Annoying little bastards, they are. There's a rather decent sized playground here, too, and the kidlets always seem to be enjoying themselves every time I've glanced from a safe distance. Tons and tons of improvements have been made to this island in the last five years--it used to be a lot less developed--and the city seems to maintain the area well. If you come around here and happen to find a pair of rusty old pliers laying on the beach, they're probably mine. They fucking hide every single time I try to pack them back into the tackle box. ... They're biodegradable, it's cool. As much as I've found myself wanting to, I've never stoked up a beach fire here as I don't think it's something the city smiles upon. This is the only thing that makes me a little sad; I'll be damned if there's anything like kicking back next to a crackling fire and casting a line out. A couple more things: Do spiders make you want to piss yourself? Don't inspect the docks or wander out onto the larger rocks of the beach. They're bigger than house cats out here; I saw one carrying off a toddler a week ago, bro. The city rents those bikes by the hour now and this is a nice park for a leisurely ride. One of the rental stations isn't far from here (if memory serves correctly, it's right across from the old bakery on Wabasha by Holiday) so it wouldn't be a pain in the ass to get there.

Irish Fair

Irish Fair Minnesota at Harriet Island. Me and my Gal spent the day at the Irish Fair of Minnesota on Harriet Island last Friday. If you haven't gone make sure you go next year. It's FREE! There are 3 main stages spread throughout the park. They stagger the bands at the Stages so for the most part you can catch all the bands. We were able to park fairly close for $10. The beer and food is reasonably priced. I want to thank Finnegans for the free samples, and the free samples, and the free samples... The Music was great! Kudos to Boiled in Lead, the Screaming Orphans, and the Tossers. Thanks for making angry-fighting-drinking songs fun!!! We were able to share a flight of Jameson shots. We took our time with those...and then paced ourselves the rest of the night. The Park gets 5 stars, the bands get 5 stars and the Irish Fair gets 5 stars! You will see me, my Gal, and my Kilt again next year!

I'm going to have to return to this park again when I have a bit more time to explore. I stopped by…read morefor a quick hike and was a bit stymied when my GPS took me an unnecessary two miles over to the west entrance (past the unrelated marina) when I'd been intending to use the east one. The west entrance has a good-sized free parking lot nearby the gazebo. This structure has picnic tables, fire pit, water fountain, and restrooms (however, the latter two are seasonal... in November the fountain was shut off and the restrooms were locked, which kind of sucked for me who was in need of both... thus why I made my stay somewhat short). The trails for the most part are all paved, unless you take the unofficial ones beaten down along the riverway (which seem to be most utilized by fishers from what I could glean). So that's great for bicyclists or people pushing baby strollers or rollerbladers, but wasn't exactly the vibe I was looking for. Depends on what your desires are recreationally. There was one lake area under restoration that was therefore inaccessible for now; always nice to see when resources are being invested to keep our parks nice. Lots of trees, plenty of shade, even when most of the trees have lost their leaves in preparation for winter. I think I'll come back when some snow has fallen, because I'm sure it would probably be quite gorgeous.

Love this park! Beautiful sand trails by the river and also paved trails. Highly recommend checking…read moreit out. There are many places to park along the road, but I love the parking lot by the picnic shelter, too!

This park is located in the heart of downtown St. Paul and is pretty basic. It spans 4.2 acres and…read morewas developed in 1922. There is metered street parking, with a 2-hour limit, in front of the park and there is other metered parking and commercial garages with in a reasonable walking distance. This park is very scenic and has a lot of potential. It sits up high and overlooks the Mississippi River. The park has some decent green space pockets that could be used for picnic and possibly frisbee or playing a light game of catch. It has a bunch of trees that provide a decent amount of shade. There is also a nice paved walkway around the parks perimeter that can be used to walk/jog. You will find some benches along that walkway that had a bunch of homeless people sleeping on them and a few people from nearby offices eating their lunch. The park could be maintained a bit better but, it is not horrible. The park an arcing pergola and two operational fountains. They are the best part of the park and make for some very nice pictures. The park is riddled with a bunch of homeless, as I mentioned, they were on the benches and one was in the fountain. The park has hosted events such as Saint Paul Winter Carnival, Country Flannel Night, Food Truck Friday: Voices of the Community, Francis Ford Coppola Winery Happy Hour, Hops & Hounds, and UCare Sunday Music in the Park. Either way, this is a nice park to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the big city, whether to sit and hang out, eat lunch, walk along the river overlook or just chill by the fountains.

This is an ideal park for panoramas. You won't get a better view of Raspberry Island and the bustle…read moreof St. Paul can be momentarily forgotten while walking here.

The park itself is beautiful with nice sectioned green grass some decorative bushes and benches throughout with a gorgeous fountain at its center. There's street parking available immediately near by so no need to walk from blocks away for a visit. There's also a lovely little gazebo with lights that's very pretty in the early mornings or later/darker evenings. I know it's a historical site as well so that's nifty. We have also seen even a few weddings and photo shoots being done in the park

5/31/22: Overall 3.5 stars. Located in St. Paul, this is a small, quiet & intimate park. Calling it…read morea park might even be a stretch, as it's more like a place you just stroll through to escape the sun (lots of trees & shade) or snap a few pics. There's really no parking, nor any picnic tables, drinking water fountain, or bathrooms. Just a few benches facing the fountain. This isn't a place with jogging paths or much to do. So as a "park", with its lack of amenities, I'd say it's 2.5 stars, or 3 stars at best. However, you can rent the park from the city for $200 (prices as of May 2022) for an intimate wedding, which grants you the permit, plus very limited parking spots. For events over 2 hours, you must rent your own port-o-potty (from a different company $175), as they don't provide it with your park rental. Because it's a relatively affordable way to have a wedding for those on a budget, who love nature & want to be outside, or those who just want a simple no muss, no fuss type of wedding, for that target audience, I'd say it's a decent 3.5 stars, or perhaps even a good, 4 star option. The biggest plus is that there's really no one there (didn't see anyone running or walking their dogs, etc.), so there'll be no interruptions for those wanting a private event. I would say the biggest drawback of it is that there's no real bathroom or parking.
