I used a tour company to book our time in the Philippines as there is a lot of coordination with Island hopping. I trusted all their choices and this one surely didn't disappoint. Located in a gated area with multiple levels of security, it was quiet and peaceful. We stayed during ESEAN, and even with extra events going on, the place was incredibly relaxing. Our room had its own pool. It 2as shared with 3 other rooms, but pretty much private and open 24 hrs. The room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. A refillable water station was right outside our door. The food here is delicious. Breakfast was included with our stay and had so much variety. We ate seven meals on site and enjoyed it all. The grounds were fantastic! A big pool that never felt crowded, a couple restaurants, pool bar/restaurant, nightly welcome show, and more. A quick 5 minute tuktuk into town to enjoy an evening out was easy and convenient. I would definitely stay here again.

At first u was hesitant because I thought I would have to pay for a day pass or something. She assured me that it's housed on a public beach and that the resort lets non guest enter. I spent an entire day here and I was in awe. The workers were so nice and kind. You can use their beach chairs too! You are encouraged to order something but it's not forced upon you. Honestly I wish I knew about this place before. I recommend everyone to come here. very relaxing with a real wide beach and space to move around unlike Alona. Also no beach sellers! Just pure perfection.

Toyoko Inn does the bare minimum of what a hotel's supposed to do…read more Okay, that might've been a little harsh. Not the bare minimum but definitely not the maximum. The check-in took forever. The systems were down and the Philippines has a habit of writing everything down by hand. I dunno the reasoning behind this, so it might be some weird country instated policy but we have the technology! It was just frustrating. It took us like 45 minutes waiting in that lobby. So guys, get late to your check-in, who cares? We get to our room and it's stale box with a plastic bathroom. If I had to describe to a baby what a room was, it's what he'd imagine it to be. A cube with two beds. And by plastic bathroom, I mean it's a detachable bathroom. It's cool in that sense but everything about this room was so empty. I'm not one to care about amenities because on vacation, a hotel room is where I want to spend the least of my time, but I feel like even the most standard of hotel rooms have more to offer. Like, this felt a little more like a hostel and that it constantly reminded you that you weren't there to stay. Anywho, the rooftop pool is fun and they do have section just for barbecue nights Cebu style, which is my kinda night. My only other complaint is that they programmed the elevators to always stop on the 6th floor. It doesn't seem like a big deal until you're waiting 10 Fu**ing minutes for an elevator. And sometimes, it'll just skip your floor because it'll assume another elevator will go to your floor. UUUUUGH. That in combination with the long check-in were the worst. Will I stay at Toyoko Inn again? Maybe actually. Thing is, it's well-known. So, any type of car or pick-up service you're using knows of it by heart, which is really convenient. It's also located next to a big mall and other shopping districts. And I don't know the quality of other hotels in the area. For all I know, this is the best Cebu has to offer. ALTHOUGH, it's not in Cebu City. And Cebu City are where all the bitches are at. Check your Bumble if you don't believe me.

And then they have a sign everywhere in the dining area that tells you to take your tray and separate the trash, the forks/spoons, and mugs. I mean, the service in this place gets terrible everyday. Also, I called last night to get room service, guess what NO ROOM SERVICE. so you need to go outside and go to the mall and buy food. Again, please do not waste your money.

Linen (bedsheets, pillow case, and a blanket) is NOT included and is an extra P100 per night. This is such an evil trick. The place is a dirty and rarely cleaned. My "bed" for example had crumbs all over - disgusting. Especially disgusting when you consider I had no linen. When people check out, all the staff does is to use a dirty wet rag to give the bed a 10 second wipe. Jam-packed with dorm beds and so it's very noisy if the beds are mostly taken. An amazing number of people have to share the toilet. There's no privacy whatsoever as anyone can watch you sleeping. There's nowhere to store your valuables, unless of course again you pay extra for a locker. The under the pillow safety box is only of any use while you're sleeping, because it has no lock (nor can you put your own lock, even if you had one). WiFi is slow. Altogether, it was probably better than sleeping on the street, but only by a slight margin.

The aircon in the room was good. The Wifi in the hotel was good. Hot shower in the morning. Clean and presentable room. Close to pier if you need to get to the terminal, and to two very nice malls. Now, let's go to no to great things which make me question whether I will stay there again. First, no safe in the room to place valuables. Only provided one key to the room, in exhange for your ID or 500 php. Normally I keep one key in the room to key the electric on for the aircon and to make it appear like the room is occupied by possible thieves. Slow check in process. Pinoy breakfast, not enough and spooned onto the plate by an employee. We had to go to another breakfast place because it was simply not enough. The location is questionable. Very busy spot along city streets of Cebu City. Was not safe to walk to SM Cebu CIty and the pollution was bad that early in the morning when we walke over. Had to take Taxi to and from the malls. Although this is not the hotel fault, travelers need to be aware. Would I stay there again? Depends. For one night it was okay. I would not surround my whole vacation around this particular location.

While I know some guests enjoy the water-facing rooms, ours unfortunately faced another room's window, so we kept the curtains closed the entire stay. This made the room feel dark and uncomfortable. The room was extremely outdated and very cramped, especially with two twin beds--there was barely any space to move around. The overall atmosphere felt unsettling, almost as if the building had been converted from a hospital, giving it a creepy vibe. The bathroom was especially disappointing: -Black mold on the ceiling -Worn-down mirror and shower that felt more like a rundown hostel -The only positive was the complimentary shower shoes, which were very much needed The bedding was also an issue since the sheets felt itchy, and I refused to use the blanket. The air in both the room and lobby felt stuffy and old, and I found myself coughing throughout the night. I've heard the food is good and that there's a rooftop area, but after the overall experience, I had no interest in exploring further. Thankfully, we only stayed one night. Bottom line: This property is marketed higher than it should be and realistically feels like a 1-star hotel. It may work if you're only looking for a budget stay in a prime location, but if cleanliness, comfort, or atmosphere matter to you, I'd strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
