He…read moreis a deeply arrogant and unpleasant man who lays off the most underpaid employees that have worked for him for years under the guise of "losing money" just to turn around and hire his daughter who just graduated college. When told that the road is full of potholes that get worse every year he will scoff in your face. He's not around to see them or drive over them, so why should he care? I wonder if he would feel the same way if the roads in his Potomac neighborhood looked the same way? Somehow I doubt it. It doesn't take a genius to see that every year the amenities and grounds get worse and worse while the prices get raised by hundreds of dollars (once they raised prices TWICE in the same year). They used to have events around the holidays for the local community and families of the deceased - they no longer do any of that. The sales manager, John Sockriter, is the most incompetent manager I have ever met in my entire life. He would literally sneak out the back door if he heard a customer asking to speak to a manager, letting the underpaid receptionist deal with all of the fall out of his sales teams poor customer service. He also once took home one of the Canadian geese from the cemetery AND ATE IT. Those geese live off of stale white bread and dirt, so that tells you exactly how smart he is. His subordinates have no respect for him because he sits upstairs on his phone all day and hasn't actually sold anything in years. He still brags about being number one in sales in 1995 and his office is covered in sad little "#1 in sales - 1997 third quarter" plaques (lmao). He can't write a contract let alone send a fax from the fax machine. A sales counselor was drinking on the grounds, getting into belligerent arguments with women on the staff and everyone knew about it, including him. He did nothing about it until they realized that counselor was also STEALING FROM CUSTOMERS and only then there were consequences. All three of the white managers are incredibly ignorant and actually quite racist which is very unfortunate considering the main customer demographic is the local Black community. The office manager, the grounds superintendent and sales manager are yes men to the owner and could care less about improving the experience of their clients or subordinates. They are completely out of touch with how their younger employees basically live in poverty if they don't get second AND third jobs. I am all for supporting small businesses but this is not one of them. Instead of investing in the cemetery, the owner uses it to purchase other cemeteries in different states instead of putting that money back into the cemetery. It's sad because it really could be a spectacular historical cemetery for the local community. They are running that cemetery into the ground and they simply don't care. This cemetery exemplifies exactly what is wrong with corporate capitalism today. Short term profits are king and everything else is a second thought. It's so bad that they haven't even been paying for their employees health insurance on time EVEN THOUGH IT STILL GOT DEDUCTED FROM THEIR PAY. When the owner was emailed about this issue he did what he always does - he completely ignored the email. That should tell you everything you need to know about him. 0/10 - I would not recommend this cemetery to my worst enemy.

I called the next day, and the male caretaker told me the code, so I went back later that day before my flight out on Monday at 5:30 p.m. I tried the code, but no luck. I wasn't told that the code only works during business hours. When I got back from my flight, I called the male caretaker back two days later, and he was very rude and condescending. I asked him to amend the existing sign to alert people that the mausoleum is only open during business hours too. He was very rude and informed me it was common sense. I got very angry and hung the phone up on him. Also, you have to push the asterisk (*) after the code too, something he didn't tell me when he first gave me the code. I understand the need to lock up the mausoleum, but posting the hours that it is open is VERY critical for the visiting family members.

The state of his body was said to be a factor by George however, there were NO bruises, cuts, or traumas that caused his death or present once his body was picked up from the home. For some odd reason, the barber had to cut my brothers hair while he laid in the casket fully dressed instead of on the prep table. He had beautiful long eyelashes that somehow disappeared and some fingernails had terribly darkened. I'm led to believe he was not properly refrigerated or properly embalmed. When my sister called Liberty Rd location regarding another matter, she was told the days of services rather than asked what works best for the family. Once days were finally confirmed, the website wasn't updated until an hour before viewing. Stream viewing was unavailable even though it was an extra cost that was paid. Staff didn't display much empathy or professionalism. A few courtesy extra copies of the obituaries wouldn't be made even after how much we paid. We also wanted an outside casket BUT, they wanted to charge $1,000 just to receive it. These services are not acceptable and not recommended for even your pets. Having 4 locations DOES NOT mean the quality is there. Grieving families are definitely being taken advantage of. There was no ministry or acts of Galatians 5:22-23.

When asked why he had no eye lashes they told us he didn't have any when he got there which was a LIE then they proceeded to try and glue lashes on which made it even worse. We requested several times for him to be pulled from viewing because of the POOR job that was done with makeup. The smell on him was so strong that others noticed and made mention of it. The barber that came to cut his hair had to do so in the casket while he was fully clothed for viewing with no cover or protection for his clothes instead of using a prep table. Hair was all over his face and eye area because of the use of wax it made it harder to blow off. When my brother left the house on June 28th he had absolutely no injuries or trauma of any sort to his body so why would he have Skin SLIPPAGE or be in decomp period if not for lack of care by VAUGHN GREENE FUNERAL HOME?? I have photos before and after it was so horrible to think that the people you trusted to care for your Love One would do such a terrible job. They was no sort of Christian behavior and I was really disappointed in the services that we received. This x is only half of it so you could imagine the rest. I am considering seeking legal counsel because of this horrific situation.
