I took guitar lessons with him in Ann Arbor Michigan from 2004 to 2008. It was great! He definitely let my interests drive the direction of the lessons. Rather than having a strict series of levels/lessons/books to work through, he saw what I was interested in and used his musical expertise to plan lessons around those interests. In addition to strumming my guitar that I love, I am so grateful for the theory/songwriting/singing knowledge I got out of working with Aaron. I've tried to take lessons from other people as I moved around the country, but no one offered the flexibility in terms of what to study that I got from Aaron. I really felt that he was interested in teaching me what I wanted to learn.

His love for sharing his knowledge and his music was obvious from the first minute I met him. He is a patient instructor and one of the most knowledgeable musicians I've met. His lessons were heavy on theory and on the science of sound and music - but only because I found it fascinating. With other students, particularly children, he took an age-appropriate approach that was intended to instill a love for the instrument without being overly "school-ish" or boring. My 2 older nieces go to Jeanette (so double kudos to her). They describe her as patient, kind, funny, and encouraging! They both really love the fact that they get prizes for finishing songs in their lesson books! Jeanette always has a bunch of fun and cool prizes that the girls get to take home with! This really encourages the girls to always want to go above and beyond and learn more songs. My youngest niece goes to Gabrielle and she is awesome. I sit in there with her through her lessons and my youngest is super shy so there are a lot of times where she will be silent but Gabrielle always makes her feel comfortable and will accommodate to my youngest and not force her to talk.
