She is non-judgemental and truly wants to see each party feel supported, and (not that couples work is always easy) we've been raving to friends about our experience with her practically from day one. In addition to exploring the usual sticky topics for newly engaged couples, we worked on our vows and even discussed how we were going to make the most of our wedding weekend through some scheduled mindfulness breaks. I highly recommend working through some of the "Saving your Marriage Before it Starts" (SYMBIS) workbooks beforehand so you can get the most out of Rachael's expertise; although it certainly is not a requirement. If price scares you away, consider making it a gofundme item on your registry! Weddings are about making a promise to one another and becoming a family. We are so glad we found Rachael to prepare us to be stronger partners for one another and open the door to some hard life questions. Our relationship feels much stronger and more secure now that we've explored so many subjects together that we didn't even know we were avoiding! Premarital counseling is the one wedding "splurge" we most highly value. While the wedding only lasts a day, we know we'll be reaping the rewards of our work with Rachael for years to come.

We had the misfortune of going to Lia for marriage counseling, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that she almost derailed our marriage rather than helping. At first Ms. Bermudez seemed fine, but after a session or two she wanted to see us separately. The practice makes a big deal in their many pages of legalize that must be signed that there will never be secrets between counselor and both clients. But without going into details, Lia basically undermined my spouse to me 1:1, and I later found out she did the same with my spouse 1:1. She basically told both of us unhelpful things about the other. In our next 1:2 session she pretty much incited an argument. We had come to her asking for help and trusting her faith-based professionalism only to receive the opposite. Fortunately we were able to find a Christian counselor elsewhere who is helping us repair things.

The Lord used this place in powerful ways to open my heart and change me. Counseling is no replacement for Jesus, but offers a way to live in the tension with a focus on Jesus. Counseling can teach you how to live out the gospel in areas that seem impossible! Scheduling: Sessions are booked online through their portal which is convenient. Insurance and $$: Insurance is not accepted, but they can give you a receipt to send to your insurance company for reimbursement. They are also willing to work with you if the full cost is too high. Philosophy: This is Christ-centered counseling which means everything is processed through the lens of the gospel. (Gospel: People are imperfect, God is perfect. He sent his son Jesus as the ultimate sacrifice for our imperfection. His son rose again and offered us new life!) There is so much hope in Christian counseling. It didn't take long to set up an intake appointment and I got one the following week. You might have to leave a voicemail but they got back to me the same day. I went with individual therapy sessions and so far I'm liking it and I also like how they specialize in grief and loss and I'm learning techniques that I can apply to my daily life. It's also nice to have one to one therapy in person. I'm so grateful that we live in a community that helps support such an organization that is locally run there are bigger chains out there but it's nice that there are still places with a local touch. Be sure to support them during Amplify Austin Day. Truly a great resource from my experience.

They wanted our payment and insurance information, which we provided. It took them another 10 day to check it all out. They assigned us a therapist, and we had one intro session. She scheduled another session, but then canceled and said they substituted another therapist. Therapist number 2 did not show up for the session. We were stood up. When we called the office, they assigned us number 3, who was an intern. Since we are senior citizens and the intern was so young, it was obvious Austin Grief did not want us as clients. We lost more than 2 months without help. These folks have added even more stress to a painful loss, we do not recommend them.
