Acupuncture was recommended to me by a therapist for my anosmia. The tl;dr is I lost my sense of smell in 2018. I've been to three treatments so far, and as of this week, I've started to catch whiffs of things, which is wild work. (What magic is this?!) Dr. Gumman is a compassionate caretaker. What I appreciate about him most is I'm an outspoken skeptic - even when my therapist recommended the treatment, I told her it sounded woo-woo and unrealistic. I met Dr. Gumman with the same amount of skepticism, and he's met each question I have with both science and evidence, which I sincerely appreciate. Everyone else in the office is warm, welcoming, and happy to answer questions. They always greet me kindly and never seem in a hurry or rush or like they're just pushing clients through as fast as they can. I enjoy the very welcoming atmosphere. When I first went to Dr. Gumman, I could barely walk, I have had back, knee and hip issues. He got me walking again, my balance improved, my overall feeling was much improved. I wish I could go to him every week. Wonderful staff, because he's an MD too his knowledge is vast and helps with everything. Came to Harmony for an appointment with Karen. When I walked into the building I was instantly greeted by the front desk staff. The place was warm and inviting and instantly made you feel serene with the soft music and complimentary snacks. Karen was super educational and polite. She made sure I was comfortable at every turn. Dr. Gumman and his staff are very caring, kind people who want you to feel your best. This was my very first experience with acupuncture but after several attempts to alleviate low back pain from a car accident with chiropractic care without complete relief, I was desperate to try a new method. My first visit I was taken into a room and the process was described to me in detail. The doctor will place 20 needles on the front based on your needs, turn on meditation audio, leave the room for a bit, return, remove the needles, and you flip over to repeat the process. A bell is given to you when Dr. Gumman leaves the room in case you become uncomfortable - too cold, too hot, etc. If a needle is placed and it's uncomfortable, the sensation will likely go away within a second, but if not tell the doctor and he will move it to an alternative place. Your first session is $135 for consultation and acupuncture, and each following session is $80. Dr. Gumman will spend as much time talking to you as you need before each session. He wants to know how you feel and what's going on in your life so he can provide the best treatment for you. I am hopeful to find relief soon but see my visits to Dr. Gumman continuing for a while for overall health, but not as frequent after the car wreck wounds heal. read more
