This week is Healthy Options Week. Approx. 20 vendors had food tasters, teas, and products like…read moretoothbrushes and mini-shampoos to give away. I sampled a vegan chocolate chip cookie, a cabbage stir fry, a jambalaya made in a more healthy manner, a blackberry concentrated tea, pita with tzatziki, a mini Greek salad. It is a nicely laid out space, but some vendors were not set up when the event opened. The veggie pizza did not arrive until an hour after the event opened and the one sheet pizza was quickly gone. It was a two hour event, but most of the vendors, both food and products, had nothing left after an hour.

My favorite was the veggie stir fry from Sunshine Vegan Eats. The jambalaya, by Ravelle Culinary Creations, was also very good. It had a little kick already, but she offered Frank's hot sauce if you wanted more umph. There were vendors with healthy teas, Tom's was offering pita with tzatziki tasters and Mister Pizza had veggie pizza tasters. In the dessert options we had a tasty vegan chocolate chip cookie. As an "ex"-registrar from the Burlington Campus, I would NOT and EVER recommend this college to…read moreanyone. Firstly, I think it's over priced for the lack of quality it offers. The supposedly "new" facility has been "under construction" for over 2 years. No one is ever working there and we''ve been made to LIE to the potential applicants/students in telling them the facility will be ready in September 2012, which honestly, I think the school will close it's doors before it's construction is ready. The "lack" of professionalism from the "front" reception is pathetic. Immature, touchy, cackling, soclal and very LOUD. When a potential applicant comes in to do an assessment, the door must be closed because they can't concentrate due to the "over powering LOUDNESS coming from the reception area. If I were in upper management, I would "clean" house starting from the Campus Manager who "allows" this unprofessionalism to continue. The instructors are all disgruntled. The registration number of students are very very low and the tuition fees are ridiculously overpriced. How would I rate this college from 1-10....honestly, I would give it a 3 and that would be credited to the instructors there...without the instructors, I would give it a "0"...honestly, it's not worth it...go elsewhere. Not having a certificate or degree in office admin, I was unable to find employment related to my…read moreexperience and in my area of interest. I decided to enroll at the Academy of Computer and Employment Skills (ACES) which offers many key courses related to office work. ACES is a subsidiary of Working Skills Centre (WSC). After a period of unemployment, ACES provided me all the training I needed to get a diploma and find gainful employment in my area of interest. I did the Administrative Assistant program and honestly, I was happily surprised at how in-depth the courses were. Upon completion of the computer courses in this program, you will also be prepared to test for the Microsoft Office Specialist certificate if you choose to. ACES's instructors are highly knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating. They go out of their way to help you with program work and with navigating life difficulties throughout the duration of your course if needed. In the Admin Assistant program, all of the courses are studied from basic to an advanced level. Prior to graduation, you will undergo intense job search training with in-house and guest expert lectures and, assistance with resumes, cover letters, networking, etc. They will provide job leads where possible and even call employers on your behalf. In other words, you get very strong job search support which continues for six months after you've graduated. I recommend ACES's programs without hesitation, to any one wanting to get a new start or to upgrade their skills set. The only thing I found lacking in the program (hence four stars) was social/digital media but I was recently told that adding this to the program is in the works. I will also add, this school has a distinctly no-pressure vibe which of course comes down from an ace staff! I have have some other courses I want to take there and happily, they offer them part-time in the evenings. ~MJ
