Giant lake with tons of camping area for everybody. First come first serve basis here, so it can get pretty packed on the holidays. The hiking trail is about 9 miles despite what other online websites says. You can add on another 4.2 extra with the "epic loop". Personally after doing it, I wouldn't. It is not really anything" epic", you just see more of what you would see on the normal trail: Hills, trees and grass. If you take the epic loop, there will be less shade and wind compared to the normal trail along the lake. I would say the normal trail is about 35% shade. Be warned, hiking is a lot longer than it looks because there are a lot of switchbacks on this trail. Inclines are quicly followed by declines. For the most part, the view is open grass fields with tree groves every once in a while. Overall, I would rate the hiking here as moderate. On the beach part of the lake, there are kayaking companies for rentals. Also, there is a little playground for children. This lake is really pretty and definitely worth a visit. read more
