It has a fun and lively vibe with a mix of vintage items, handmade crafts, jewelry, artwork, clothing, collectibles, and food stands all in one place. What we liked most was how easy it was to spend a few hours just walking around and exploring different local vendors and small businesses. The market feels very New York, with lots of unique finds and creative products you do not usually see in regular stores.

It made my visit to the Bazaar all the more pleasant. I've been coming to Grand Bazaar for more years than I care to remember, having taken a break for ten -- okay twenty -- years. Can't put my finger on why, perhaps I'm not as interested as I used to be. While the market is vibrant and busy, it's not as it was. Perhaps not as much diversity in wares. (I used to get a lot of pottery, art and vintage jewelry.) Back in the day, my friends and I would go to the East Village and buy funky old fur jackets for a song. I kind of had that in the back of my mind coming here. (There are many vintage coat vendors.) But prices have risen considerably. (What hasn't?!) The market is open Sundays, year 'round. Despite buying nothing, I know I'll be back. (Maybe coats get cheaper when it's warmer.) Plus, I like strolling around on the upper westside, which has a different flavor than the eastside, where I live.

I had gone to numerous other shops with no success but as soon as I walked into this store I found 5 pieces that I was ecstatic over. It being my birthday, I bought them all!! The salesperson Tanya was so helpful without being overbearing and turned out to be the owner. I cannot stand perfumes, cleaners or musty clothing so I couldn't believe how clean everything was. The clothes were so fresh without any horrible laundry or old perfume smell on them. I give this thrift/resale shop a solid 10/10. You can see by the photos how ecstatic I was. On my latest visit, I first dropped off a bag with two suit jackets, three J.Crew dress shirts and a small piece of exercise equipment. Then, while browsing, I encountered a 7-ounce Mrs. Meyer's scented candle priced at $10 (same price as retail), an old-fashioned Geoffrey Beene tie priced at $45 (truly eye-popping for this label) and countless dive-bar-caliber beer and wine glasses priced as high as brand-new versions would cost on Amazon. I could go on, but that's a solid microcosm of this store: Diamonds in the rough are vanishingly rare, and if you happen to stumble upon something desirable, the price will very likely make you question whether you're really in a thrift shop that's selling things it got for free. P.S. It's worth noting that other HW locations have equally mediocre Yelp ratings, so this isn't just a reflection of UWS donations being bad or UWS commercial rents being high. Moreover, in Manhattan, great stuff is undoubtedly being donated. I've heard that nicer items are sometimes sold at special events, but that the prices aren't any better; regardless, special events don't do anything for 99% of customers.

The owners three darling little girls play in the store sometimes and the sales associates are fantastic and well knowledgable. I'm not quite sure where anyone can come off saying anyone at NYV is snobby. The owners are the kindest, most down to earth people I know in NYC. That said, they're busy. For god sakes, they've got Rachel Zoe and Anna Wintour and Saudi Princesses shopping in there. I think what some people may mistake as snobbishness is truly just busy, bustling New York City charm. I'm appalled by the way Jonathan, the owner, responds to many of the 1-star reviews here on Yelp. Not only does he appear to respond mostly to negative feedback, but his tone often comes across as rude and overly defensive. Jonathan, having a business for 30 years doesn't give you a free pass to be dismissive toward people who are simply sharing their experiences. There's always room for growth and improvement. Instead of being combative, take the time to really listen to your customers and consider their concerns--this could lead to positive changes and an even better shopping experience. That said, I visited this consignment store a few days ago, and Jonathan himself was actually very helpful and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the consignment process and was very pleasant throughout. The store itself is a bit overcrowded with clothing and shoes, which can feel overwhelming, but the selection is solid and the pricing is reasonable considering the focus on high-end pieces. While the clothing leans more mature, there are definitely options for all ages. This shop is exclusively for women--I didn't see any men's items, but that's not a dealbreaker for me. The clearance section is located upstairs, and while I did find a lot of regular designer names, I didn't spot many high-end pieces there aside from a few pairs of shoes. Also, the upstairs area definitely needs better ventilation--AC or at least a few fans would make a big difference, as it was uncomfortably warm. As for handbags, I might have missed them since I was more focused on clothes and shoes, but I didn't see any notable high-end options in that category during my visit. I plan to return soon with more time to explore. Despite my concerns about how the owner responds to feedback online, I didn't experience any issues personally during my visit. I actually had a positive shopping experience, and I would recommend this store. I just hope that in the future, there's some improvement in how customer feedback is handled publicly--it really does make a difference.

((4.25 stars))…read more ReShop is a place you shop at when you want clothes that look worn-in and somewhat distressed but don't want to put in the work of wearing said clothes for months or years on end to get that peak look OR don't possess a time machine to jump back years ago to purchase said clothes when they were new, wear them while in the past to the present...all while avoiding your past self to prevent a time paradox or something to that effect (watch Back to the Future or Marvel or some shit re:time travel problems). i kid, but the reality of the "now" is ReShop locations like this one specialize in vintage, used, and/or distressed music t-shirts, sports jerseys, college hoodies, and other clothing categories. while clinging to nostalgia & sentimentalism can be signs of self-imposed mental illness (ya know the line: "things were better in my day, the past, etc."--while this can be singularly true...most times it is not universally true). while things in the past may or may not have been better...nothing feels better than a worn-in band t-shirt on a lazy Sunday morning paired with your favorite comfy denim to walk around the neighborhood, while sipping a fine cup of coffee all while inner-monologuing your week's mundane triumphs while hunger for a bacon -egg-and-cheese casts a delicious shadow over everything. oh, it's true. anyway, the LES ReShop location has a good mix of vintage-ish Ts (some actually old and others are new-ish but beaten-up in a good way). the mix of Ts is curated well -- lots of hip hop to rock to some mainstream pop, not much country. prices really hinge on the demand on the music entity than quality or actual age of T-shirt. i've bought a few Ts here and none were outrageously priced. it's fair market considering vintage clothing has become its own industrial complex. hello late-stage capitalism. anyways. most of the merchandise is on the first floor and there's a second floor with mostly women's stuff. items do change seasonally like coats and such. haven't snagged a retro-ish jersey here but they do have them if that's your thing. however the band Ts are a go-to here. the weekends normally mean selection/variety is going to be cleaned out bc that's the highest amount off foot traffic downtown. best bets are during the week after work. your mileage on quality may vary so don't blame me bc you went there and the racks were thin or you just have poor taste in Ts. there are vinyls as well as random things like a whole clothes rack of JORTS, currently. (not my thing and not judging, BUT: lmao). anyway the eclectic wearables selection is a plus regardless of whether it's your cup of sartorial tea or Ts or whatever. staff are pretty low-key and chill...and maintain a fairly clean and organized store. anyway, T-shirts are cyclical in style when it comes to music, so when you're looking for something different from what is brand new in a chain retail store then ReShop is your best bet for an off-the-beaten path find. plus it's on a solid stretch on Orchard Street on the LES for eats, drinks, shopping, or in-between.
