This posting is bittersweet because of the passing of my father- in- law and this is the funeral home that is handling is funeral arrangements. Just visited the funeral home with my spouse and my father- in-law's widow. Very peaceful, quaint, quiet (especially for a Sunday) and serene based off my initial impression of this place. They have been very professional leading up to and taking an active part in the funeral arrangements, which makes it better for the family that is in the grieving process.

The home was packed with folks who came from far distances to pay their respects and everyone was accommodated with seating. The service was so thoughtful from piping in the music that she loved (Bob Dylan), placing all her books around for people to take, and listening to the minister speak about her in a very informative and kind way. We prayed and listened to friends and family share their memories and relationship with Tina, and cried and laughed at their shared experiences. Even though this was a very emotional day, I was very impressed and happy with how this service was and I know my son-in-law felt the same.

We were told if the lines got busy and we had people holding us up that we could waive our funeral Director down to help move the lines along. That ended up not happening after I was calling and asking for the funeral Director several times. I had received several text messages from people who stood in line for over an hour and had to leave. On top of that, we use their limo services for traveling from the funeral home to the church and cemetery. The limo reeked of cigarette smoke, which made it hard for my asthma.

Around 1910, the family name inexplicably changed to Healey, but the service remained the same. The business involved John's brother, Joseph, who also opened his own home in South Philadelphia. In 1935, Joseph's son, John A. Healey, II opened the family's first South Jersey funeral home for a brief time before returning to his Philadelphia roots. They have no heat or air-conditioning in the mausoleum, so it's always freezing cold in the winter…read moreor burning hot in the summer. They close and chain up the mausoleum doors 30 minutes earlier than they are supposed to do so. Also, the last two times I was in the mausoleum paying my respects to a loved-one, the smoke alarms were beeping non-stop. If they are not functioning properly, the facility may be failing to meet township and county fire codes/regulations. Finally, the access roads inside the cemetery area are in terrible condition.

Since I lived in Los Angeles, I was able to visit him at least once a month. As a matter of fact, I saw him just 10 days before he passed. When I got the call at 12:30am that his time had come, I packed an overnight bag and headed to the desert to be with my family. We needed to be together to mourn and say our final goodbyes. But that was just the beginning. My grandfather had spent most of his life in Philadelphia and New Jersey. He and my grandmother actually made all of their arrangements in advance. However, they never thought they would be living on the other side of the country when their time would came. Letting go and saying goodbye are the hardest parts of a loved one passing. Doing it with dignity is the most important aspect of the final personal experience you will have with that family member. From the time my grandfather was brought to a funeral home in California to the his final resting place in New Jersey, the family of McCann-Healey treated us and my grandfather like we were their family as well. My father was in hospice care recently.   I decided to be proactive and reach out to the funeral…read morehome on behalf of my mother, to get an idea of what was available to fulfill my parents wishes.   My family had used Lambie Funeral Home 3 times prior for two of my great uncles and my grandmother.  The last time was about 10 years ago. After emailing them, I received a phone call from David Lambie to talk to me personally about what we were looking for (cremation,  memorial service,  live streaming,  death certificates,  social security and Medicare notifications, paperwork to fly the ashes internationally)and the costs.    David was kind and caring.  He took his time and explained the processes, step by step.     A week and a half later, my father passed away. I called David just after midnight.  He was there within half an hour to pick up my dad.      The next day, we met with David and worked out the obituary and the rest of the arrangements.   He listened to us, and he made thoughtful suggestions.  Over the next few days, he was patient and attentive as we edited the obituary   and memorial cards several times.  He added and edited our picture montage several times as well.  He was always patient, and kind and sympathetic. He and his lovely wife, Dana, recommended several restaurants for our post memorial reception.    On the day of the Celebration of Life he had someone in the parking lot upon our arrival, ready to help us bring in our pictures, photo albums,  and other props. From the moment we walked in the door, David was there and ready to help us set up our memory vignettes.  My dad had multiple businesses throughout his life and we set up stations that payed homage to his entrepreneurial endeavors.      David went above and beyond.  We had family across the country who were not able to fly in for the services. David started the live feed an hour early so our family members could watch the reception before the services and eulogies started.      The services and eulogies were heart warming and stirring.   At the end of everything,  we had so many people approach us and compliment us on the best funeral that they had ever attended.   I don't know about you,  but I've never been to a funeral that was such a stand out,  that I wanted to remark about it to the family.  We heard it over and over again.   This was all made possible by David & Dana Lambie.    When we were leaving,  David & Dana had everything ready for us.  They had a flash drive of the services, the guest book, the framed picture of my father from the memorial service, and the paperwork we would need to transport the ashes internationally.        They were thorough and efficient, warm and caring.  I can't say enough wonderful things about them.   I would recommend them highly.   They are professional,  effective,  compassionate and a credit to their profession.  When you need funeral services,  know that these people will handle every detail with the utmost care.   David and Dana Lambie are absolutely fantastic!
