Depending on the hour you visit, you can visit a number of structure: the Grist Mill (now a visitor's center), the Miller's House, the Blacksmith Forge, Tenant House, McCourtney's General Store, Barn ruins, the Jericho Covered Bridge, and more. We visited on a Saturday afternoon. We walked to the barn ruins and the covered bridge. Then we visited the blacksmith shop (a blacksmith in period clothes gave us a little lessons on blacksmithing) and McCourtney's General Store, which now houses a little museum about Jerusalem Mill. The staff at the General Store were very helpful and friendly and walked us around and pointed out different objects and artifacts. There is a trailhead that starts just near the parking lot on Jerusalem Road that I want to check out next time we're in the area. The Village also hosts different events, like their summer concert series, so it's a great place to get to know. The parking was in the area is very limited (lots of people in the lot park for the trail or to picnic in the meadow behind the blacksmith shop), and the area isn't very organized (stopping by the general store or visitor center first to get an idea of what your options are is probably the best way to tackle it). But it's a really interesting glimpse into Maryland's history and worth a visit if you're in the area or passing through!

Oh let me tell you the ducks/geese will love you for it! They will do all kind of tricks and all when you are willing to feed them! I have been told you can fish....but I have never witness someone actually fishing...so unsure about that option. Just some facts I found; Bynum Run Park is a 0.3 mile (500-step) route located near Bel Air, Maryland, USA. This route has an elevation gain of about 0 ft and is rated as easy. All in all this is a lovely and small park to go and just get some vitamin D in your system and smell the fresh air of being outside!! Hope to see you there one day! Enjoy!

Located in Monkton, Ladew is only a half hour from Baltimore, and it's well worth the drive. Ladew's gardens were establish by Harvey Ladew in the 1930s. The grounds contain 15 garden "rooms," arranged around two cross axes with vistas. The garden is noted for its topiaries, and I was blown away by the gardens' beauty. I took tons of photos! It was a beautiful, slighly chilly early May morning, and we wandered into every corner of the gardens before reading our books on the hill over looking the meadow behind the Manor House. We accidentally visited on the day of their 18th Annual Garden Festival, so they weren't offering tours of the manor house, so I'll definitely return for that. But the gardens were beautiful, and we made visits to the Studio (where you can see some of Ladew's paintings), and the Barn Gallery, and the Cafe (which sells sandwiches, snacks, pastries, coffees, etc.). Ladew is lovely. It might be the most beautiful garden in Maryland! I am certain I will return for another visit. On a beautiful day, there's no where else in Maryland I'd rather be!

The left turns onto a fast country road and again into the estate were a bit of a challenge! We especially liked the fox hunt topiary! More than just topiary, several themed gardens on 27 acres. Did not have time to explore the nature walk or the house. Watch out for the Osage orange trees along the main road; they drop large heavy fruits from tall trees! Good fall colors at the north end near the Temple of Venus. We had a tasty lobster bisque and pumpkin scones at the great restaurant in the former stables. Ate at an outdoors table.

I have only been here once when I was the only person with a dog there (Wednesday at 3pm) and shortly someone else came. There are 3 large runs with the ability to fence off your dog if you choose but it mainly stays open. If you don't live in Bel Air, I do not recommend trying to get there around rush hour (5pm) because it took us an extra 30 minutes to get through all the traffic and we were very frustrated when we got there but weekends are easy. There are plenty of waterbowls for your dogs. I usually bring a gallon of water and all the dogs share spit. This is a great place in the community. Adjacent to the dog park is a nice hiking trail you can take your dog on as well. From one end and back, it is over 4 miles.
