Mr. Hardy took our 6k for a retainer for a case involving DCF removal of the children from ex spouse. Then didn't answer texts/calls for days and told usbto calm down. Proceeded to arrive late to 1st court hearing with zero communication, 7 phones calls by multiple people and multiple texts from multiple people is what it took for a call back. He then failed to file a motion, failed to even provide a copy of the orders for 4 days. We had to go pay for a copy ourselves. He failed to forward communication from the court appointed Guardian ad Litem. He failed to sign his name on a paper that HE was supposed to fill out but still sent it to us for us to do. He then failed to forward communication from Guardian ad Litem until less than 1 hour prior to court. Then told us not to come. We called the court. We needed to be there. HE NEVER SHOWED UP TO COURT. We would have lost our case if we didn't show. Mr. Hardy was "in court" somewhere else. He made us look incredibly stupid in front of the judge. When we addressed this, HE ASKED FOR MORE MONEY. We paid money to a new lawyer that was worth it. It wasn't even all the little mistakes he made. It was the lack of care, responsibility, accountability, and integrity. Do not hire this man. read more

He is unethical and unprofessional. He never met with me before, during, or after trial. I tried for 4 weeks to meet him, before he raised his voice and told me that he was done with me and had nothing to discuss. He had me sign paperwork that prevents me from seeing my son, gives the house to my wife, and other bad things. He even had that gaul to say I didn't know how to read. Apparently he doesn't, because my wife is now threatening a restraining order because I called my son twice in one day. He is just the worst. If you do some research unlike I did before I hired him, you will find he has lost his license previously for ethics violations in Maryland and Connecticut. Deeply traumatized emotionally and financially by this attorney. I would not suggest him at all for a custody case. He made several promises to me and did not follow through with one of them. Showed up late to court, did ZERO case preparation that lead to my motion being discarded despite being properly served and on the docket. I hired him to have a voice and have my pending motions heard and he took that from me. Told me I needed nothing for court day. Despite his suggestion I brought my own evidence and that is the only thing that provided evidence and kept me from being in contempt. If I had listened to him I would have lost. He promised to file for sole custody, attorney fees, motion to leave to avoid further legal abuse and did no such thing. Takes 2 weeks to even get back to you. Engaged in bizarre phone calls with my mentally ill ex and sent me the bill. $8500 in one court date. Money I worked so hard for and will never recover. I lose sleep just thinking about how horrible this attorney was to me and my son. He has been punished by the bar before as well as arrested. When you question him he will resort to gaslighting you. Came here to say what others had unfortunately already shared. RUN from this incompetent, unethical, unreliable person. Like others here have shared, he took what was our most vulnerable time and exploited this all to make himself some money at the expense of our stress and difficulties. Called for a consultation regarding a legal matter and did not have a courteous interaction with him over the phone. He seemed curt, scoffed when I tried to explanation about my situation, explained very little in regards to the divorce process, but was very quick to mention his processing fee. I even requested a date for an appointment for a formal consultation (because some attorneys will provide basic info and require a consultation fee) and he stated "There's no need to even in meet in person, you just need to start the process". The only time Mr. Hardy has ever brought his A game was when he wanted to take my case(s) and my money. After that he doesn't want to know you, hear from you let alone ask him any questions.
