First Time Realty - Pieced together chipped tile since the owner didn't have a tile glass cutter.

I hired First Time, Inc. and it will be the last time. Poor communication, Short cuts and Shoddy…read morework. The first red flag was the fact that Ken Brown wanted to charge me for an estimate. I needed 4 rooms painted, vinyl flooring put down and a Kitchen tile backsplash for my counter top. The price for the work seemed fair so I decided to hire Ken and two of his workers to complete the work. First they began by painting which was followed by missed spots and left over paint on surfaces that didn't need to be painted. I had to point out the missed areas to be painted and cleaned up. When they went back with a second coat they did not tape off areas and were sloppy. The tile backsplash in the kitchen was being done by The Owner, Ken and his helper Dave. Dave did nice work compared to Ken. He also had a worker named Shaun that did good repairing mistakes made by Ken. The tile I bought had some glass cuts that needed to be done but Ken did not have a glass cutter so the edges were chipped off and he just filled it in with grout in an attempt to cover it up. There is an area of tile under the counter that is leaning and doesn't have grout at the top. Ken said he did this since the tile didn't fit instead cutting the area to fit. When the vinyl flooring was put in the dining room there was transition strip that Ken used a nail gun to tack down crooked since it broke during installation. There were quarter round pieces that were incomplete. When I brought up any defect to the owner's attention he became argumentative and pushy trying to get out of correcting any issues while making excuses. He would ask, " What's wrong with it?", when there were obvious defects. My wife and I noticed more shoddy work once the work was supposed to be complete. I sent pictures of the chipped tile and missing grout in areas in our kitchen to Ken and arranged for him to come back to fix it. He shows up and has nerve to ask why didn't I tell him about it the day he was there and that he has been doing this for 30 plus years. I explained to him that chipped off glass tile wasn't satisfactory work and he told me my wife and I were being too picky. He was actually upset that he had to come back and fix his own mistakes. He didn't even bring a glass cutter to make correct glass cuts so used other tile instead to make it easier. Lastly, Ken did not do a good job cleaning up after his work everyday and we had to go behind him and do it. He comes off as nice until you realize that first time isn't done correctly the first time at all. Buyer Beware!!

I WOULD GIVE NO STARS!!! I had hired these individuals to repaint/stain a wood deck, simple…read more Initial estimate was free, prompt, and professional, but goes quickly down hill from there. During the estimate I informed the contractor, Ken Brown that our house was for sale and the sooner the job could be completed the better. He gave me a timeline of 2 weeks until the job would be done. I signed a contract. Two weeks turned into three. They came out and power washed the deck (initially I was informed that the deck would be power washed then would require 2-3 days to dry). I was reassured when the power washing occurred that they should be out to complete the project within a few days. I waited 2 days, and called to inquire about the time First Time, Inc would be returning to complete the project, they said they would have to call me back (which they never did, I had to return the call the next day). Finally, I got in touch with someone, and Ken Brown alleged that he gave me an estimate at the job would be complete sometime a few weeks later, and this was in line with the original time frame I was given. I informed the secretary this was false, which she reported that I needed to pay for the power washing. Once speaking with Ken Brown he stuck with his story (that he never gave me that short of time frame in the original estimate), and was charging me $300 for power washing a 9' x 9' (approx) deck. Even after expressing my extreme dissatisfaction with him and the entire business, he is completely disinterested in serving his customers. This is the First and Last Time I will ever use First Time, INC. Please don't make the same mistake I did!!!

I would like to convey my extremely disappointing experience with Janes Realty Group specifically…read morewith the owner Bobby Jane. I contacted the managing director of this organization and expressed an interest in one of their listed properties. I met with the agent at the property, filled out the application and was approved to rent this property. During my meeting with the agent, I asked if I could pay the initial deposit and fees via credit card, thinking nothing of it. The agent did not know the policy on such things and would have to ask Bobby Janes, if this was acceptable-it turned out not to be, so I said fine and would render payment via check or bank draft...more on this later. A couple of days past. On 8 May, I received a text message from Bobby, asking if I was still interested in the property, I said I was but had to put things on hold for a couple of days as I was dealing with family matters back in Oklahoma - car being broken into and vandalized to be specific-more on that later too. Bobby replied, again on 8 May, "Yes Sir. No worries...sometimes people just disappear on us". I replied that I understand and that there were some issues with the house that I would like to discuss once my family issues were resolved. To that Bobby replied, "Call me when you can. We will work it out. Take care of your family first." There was no further communication until 13 May when I sent Bobby a text saying " Sir, I have gotten things under control at home, is the property still available? Thanks for your patience!" No response. I was contact with the agent twice on 15 May, once in the afternoon and once in the evening. The conversation in the afternoon was to set up a time to sign the lease, 4pm 16 May at the Jane Realty Group Office. During the second conversation, I asked the agent if it was possible to pro-rated rent for about 6 day as I would not be able to take actual physical control of the property until 5-6 June; I never heard back from the agent on whether or not this would be possible. I show up at the office for my 4pm appointment, but the office is locked up. I call the office number, nothing. I call the agent, nothing. I call Bobby Janes, nothing. Finally, I call another agent listed on the website, he answered - of course he answered, he wasn't in this deal. He said he would figure out what was going on and get back to me. When my phone rang, it was not the other agent, it was Bobby Janes; IRONIC? It should also be noted, the agent I had been working with had her phone going straight to voice mail, HMMM. Two ironic events in a row, patterns start from less! So, I explain to Bobby I am outside his office because I am here to sign the lease for the property in question, an appointment I set up with the agent who also serves as the Managing Director. Bobby stated that we will not be signing he lease today, which I will soon learn meant NEVER! Bobby stated that my desire to use the credit card to pay initial fees worried him - yet he never called nor did the agent to convey these concerns. Bobby asked about the concerns I had with the property - I stated that I wanted to point out things that needed attention in the property, AKA PROPERTY MANAGEMENT. Bobby later cited my desire to "re-negotiate" the rent as another reason to validate his position - I simply asked if the first months rent could be pro-rated to reflect that I would NOT be in the property until 5 or 6 June, when my family will join me from Fort Sill, OK - I will be packing them up next weekend, preparing my own home to be sold/rented, and moving back to E-town. The final stone upon which Bobby Janes built his case to cancel this deal was his opinion that it shouldn't have taken as long as it did to deal with my family issue - I extended my apologies for not planning to have a window in my van smashed, leather seats ruined, upholstery caked with mud, and personal items of my wife, children and children's friend stolen, around the Janes Realty Group's schedule. He said, "this happened in Oklahoma, right?, and you are in Kentucky?" I explained the fact that this event effected my car insurance, and home owners policy not to mention potential identity theft concerns. I guess this did not meet the Janes Realty Group definition of acceptable. Bobby, also felt compelled to convey that our relationship did not get off on the right foot and Janes Realty Group was scheduling showings of the property - Perhaps picking up the phone might have mitigated the numerous "Concerns" listed here...! I am sure that somewhere in the Janes Realty Group Mission Statement are the words HONESTY, INTEGRITY, CANDOR, and CUSTOMER SERVICE...I strongly suggest these words be replaced with DISHONESTY, COWARDICE, and MISCOMMUNICATION. This was my first bad experience in E-town since moving here in January and it has left me a mere 6 days to find a place for my family to live
