Harding University offers a god education. You get a barometer of what ability student yiu have that eztols ans worships the professor that they grade out higher then C. This current administration is a good one. Burks was amazing. Social things like dorm parties and shorts inbth3 afternoon should get heartfelt consideration. Most of the reviews on here do not give a fair assessment of the school. Your experience will depend on where you connect yourself. You have to make those connections yourself and put in the work. College cannot cater to each individual student. I have met many students who have had a wonderful and fruitful time at Harding cause they put in the work and learned to grow up. If you want to be treated like an adult you have to act like one, unfortunately that's how the world works. Harding has loosened up the past few years on rules but it is a Christian school who is attempting to uphold Christian standards. If those aren't your standards than this is not your school. You cannot diss on a school with standards not your own, that's rather unfair to them. I've loved this school, not everything is fantastic I will admit because it's a human run institution but the community I have here is amazing. You just have to find what works for you and where you fit in. College is what you put into it, college doesn't cater to your laziness. read more

I attended Harding University from 1988 to 1992. The experience was amazing, and I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a good Christian education. The university is beautiful. The facilities are amazing. The education is top-notch. I was well-prepared to enter my field (business management). The educators truly care about their students. No university is perfect, but Harding truly seeks excellence. It's one of the few schools that still require chapel attendance every day (though students do get a certain amount of skips every semester). I liked it and think it's of high value to the students. Yes, they have rules in place that some feel are too restrictive. But its a trade-off for keeping a culture that is God honoring as well as safe. The school is not urban, though it's not far from Little Rock. Some people like that. Others don't. Personally, I liked that the fact that most students travel great distances to attend Harding stay there through the weekends. It makes campus life a lot of fun at all times. Harding also has several campuses worldwide (Africa, Italy, Australia, Greece, etc) where students can attend. Harding is not for everybody, but it's truly a place, in my opinion, which provided me with an amazing experience I could get nowhere else. read more

Harding University expects students to act like adults but doesn't treat them like adults. There are ridiculous rules such as curfew held over students heads. If you are late you are fined. There is a dress code stating that professors or dorm assistants can make you change if they deem your outfit "immodest." There is no where near enough parking for all the students Harding has, but students are ticketed and fined for parking in red spots. There is also a huge construction project going on that is taking up a full parking lot making it unable to be accessed. The loud noise also wakes several people up early in the mornings even on weekends. Members of the opposite sex aren't allowed in each others dorms whatsoever unless it is open dorm and then Residents Assistants circle the halls to patrol. During open dorm the lights have to be on, the blinds must be up, and the feet must be on the floor at all times. Alone time with the person you are dating does not exist because the worst is expected of you. Then they wonder why the divorce rate is so high out of college when they don't even trust couples to spend quality time together. There is housing for married people, so several students rush into marriages in only a few months solely to have privacy with the person they're with. The food is horrible in the cafeteria and has been known to cause food poisoning. Harding buys the cheapest meal provider, but charges crazy prices for disgusting food to students. The cafeteria is also closed the weekends coming back from breaks. This makes it almost impossible for students without a car to get access to meals the weekend before their classes start. Chapel is another thing that Harding greatly false advertises. As a visitor, you get the best days with the most singing as well as a lesson about God. However, chapel is not like that normally. It is a big ad about the weeks events and doesn't focus on God like it should. You are also punished if you go over chapel skips. It is required everyday Monday-Friday unless you have a lab at 8 am. You also get less skips to start out with if your schedule has a chapel conflict. If you go over the skip count by a lot this can lead to not being able to walk as a senior. Social clubs are another thing Harding is known for. However, they are knock offs of Greek life sororities and fraternities. It seems like a great way to make new friends but is very cliquey and fake. Even being in one doesn't guarantee good friends that want to hang out with you. Beautiful campus. Great teachers who care. High standards and world class education. Many majors, including engineering. If you don't like a Christian moral code, don't go here, they enforce it. About 6000 on campus, so it's mid-sized. D-II athletics. Update: My youngest daughter graduated in 2017. She loved her Harding experience. Even if you disagree with the rules, just follow them. She got a GREAT education and was hired for a job in her degree, interior design (NOT interior decorating) in October of her senior year! She's been working a year now and felt that Harding gave her what she needed to succeed. read more

I went to Harding University's Spring Sing event two summers ago. The environment was satisfactory but the quality was lacking. Every musical group sang cover songs from Alexander Hamilton and the choreography by the groups was a tad lacking. Harding's Cafeteria is another prime example of Lipscomb University's monopoly on the Church of Christ Christian college market. Compared to Lipscomb the cafeteria has quantity above quality. I believe student life at Harding University is the highlight of the campus but Lipscomb has a clear advantage in every other facet. read more

Went to visit this campus to see my brother-in-law's graduation from Harding's physical therapy school. It was smart that they have 3 separate graduation ceremonies throughout the day for different departments. It is a very nice & well-kept campus, I will give them that. Most of the reasons I don't like the school stem from hearing about my sister's & brother-in-law's experience here. For one, the campus postal service lost their marriage license. They originally transferred from Texas A&M, so some of the staff members treated them like they were heathens (or otherwise non-believers), despite the fact that they were believers. They were held to a much stricter code here than if they were living in their own homes, & treated more like kids than the adults they are. It was also stricter than Lubbock Christian University, where I had my college experience. (For "faith purposes", Harding comes across as one of the more "legalistic" of the Christian colleges & universities throughout America.) My sister also had to jump thru a lot of hoops with the academic advisors, to make sure that her classes all transferred & she received credit. She was glad that she only had to spend that year (& graduate in July), & no more! (She was just "following" her husband, since Harding was the physical therapy program that accepted him.) My brother-in-law was also overjoyed that he didn't need to spend more than 3 years for his degree! He was also on his own to find his clinical rotations during the last half of his program. (I went to Texas Tech for pharmacy school, & they had a specific staff member who was in charge of coordinating clinical rotations. Maybe Harding's PT [&/or pharmacy school, etc] will look into that for future classes.) For other personal reasons, I was glad to know that Harding also had a pharmacy school, as well as a physical therapy program. And I'm also glad to know they have sought ways to improve, so they can reach more people. read more
