No wait, no pretense , no frills; just what we needed after driving 700 km across Newfoundland to meet the overnight ferry to Nova Scotia. Definitely not fancy, but clean and comfortable. Best of all, the volume of unnecessary but obligatory recorded music was set the "pleasant background" instead of "pain," "stun," or " kill. The fish had a light batter, probably the same flour coating as used on the chicken. The fish was steaming hot & moist. The coating was good, but too salty for me & I'd rather have traditional-type fish batter. My husband had a hot turkey sandwich with fries. He loved it, except for the dressing on the sandwich. It is a NL traditional, loose/dry bread crumb stuffing that he doesn't like. I took a piece of cheesecake with me to eat later. It is homemade and had a blueberry topping that was made with local wild blueberries. It tasted good, but I was disappointed that it was the unbaked, chilled kind, instead of 'real' kind. I would eat here again. I saw someone else eating the chicken: it looked yummy.

That is also the case for this restaurant as well. The food is good and has the standard menu that is presented in most restaurants. The service is fantastic, speedy and reliable, handles orders on the phone no problem. It is great for a night out with friend's and family and a great place to visit during rush hour. Although with the platter of chicken balls, rice, riblets and many other sides, the riblets have been a problem. The dish is very good in it's own right but the riblets are very challenging yo eat and could be hazardous to customers. In my expirence I have had a hard time getting a few down. Overall the Tai Hong restaurant is a good dining expirence with a normal menu, good food, great service and one little hazard.
