We went on a Friday around 10:30 am and we didn't have to wait - the people playing were pretty spread out. The course itself was really pretty - beautifully landscaped and maintained. I was surprised that almost all of the holes were Par 2's but there were all pretty simple. We had a great time!

Why have the golf carts not been programmed to stay off peoples private property?…read moreWes Tucker has this ability, the tax payers paid for the gps carts hoping Wes would program them to stay on the cart path! Not only that people drive them up the sidewalks and tell you to get out of their way! That's not going to happen! Watch and see. Why the county elected officials haven't done anything about this is beyond belief! The gopher's get drunk and confront many home owners around the course. They have broken windows not only on the close houses close, but those across the other side of the street! Boom boxs play loud music, if this was a real golf course things like this would not be allowed! It's time for us home owners to contact the commissioner in our area and demand that Wes Tucker start doing something about this issue.

However the greens were hard as a rock and the pin placement, well pros would have an issue trying to come close to making it. The carts were clean and even had gps with overview and distance to the hole features. A beer cart came around every so often and also the ranger to make sure play was on track. The cart even had rate of play to let you know if you were behind or ahead of time. There is a nice pro shop and also area to eat before or after your round. I would definitely play here again. There is also a driving range to practice and greens to put. Overall a pleasant experience.

Palatka Golf Club was the closest option so we gave it a try. The attendant in the pro shop was friendly, polite, funny and very helpful. This is the first driving range that I've ever been to where you paid at the pro shop, collect your balls, drove to the driving range and then walk through an active course across the 9th tee box to the driving range. I'll admit it, at first I was pessimistic about hitting into a large pond that was boarded by the golf course with no netting to catch bad hits. But, outside of a few stray hits that went into the boarding fairways, there were no problems. The range itself was well maintained and was fun to actually into a water obstacle on purpose. Directly to the rear of the driving range is a short game area complete with bunker and practice green. This was not as well maintained as the driving range. But, it was still good and we both enjoyed it. Overall, it was a nice experience. I did not have the opportunity to play a round, so my rating is based only on the driving range and practice green.

There is a lot of chatter about this being a Donald Ross designed course (1925) and it probably was a decent course, at one time. The fairways are dirt and weeds. All greens are turtle-backed, so that quickly gets old. But, I could live with that if the greens were actually green. Where are the sprinklers?!! How about a little fertilizer and some weed control? Yes, there had been a short draught, but there is a large pond holding water. The clubhouse is fine and the staff are friendly. But, that cannot excuse the condition of the course. I'll try again this fall and see if there have been any improvements.
