SEVEN STAR FISHING EXPERIENCE Jul 2025 * Friends…read moreFour of us went fishing on Long Island Sound yesterday from 12 pm to approximately 6 pm with Eric, AKA Captain Fish, from Port Jefferson, Long Island. What a glorious experience. It was the first time of deep sea fishing for two of us. We not only caught tons of fish but got wonderful lessons from Eric as to how to do it right. He is a great teacher, always watching and correcting you so that you don't develop bad habits, but doing so with a ready smile. He is also very ethical and would only let us keep porgies (11 inches +) and sea bass (16.5 inches +) that meet regulation. Our end of the day haul was 30 large sized fish which was way beyond expectation. Most importantly we had 6 hours of pure fun. Also, his boat is extremely clean and well kept. If you ever want to go deep sea fishing, look no further and just call Eric / Captain Fish! I have already recommended him to all my friends who are chomping at the bit to go. They are, I bet a little envious as well - wondering how a novice like me could so much fish. All credit goes to Eric!

Eric had so many spots in his GPS that we had no trouble getting on the fish right away. We had loads of action the whole time and got a few beauties for dinner. The boat is fast, comfortable, and the Cap't was a super nice, laid back, non-smoking!, knowledgeable guy. As an avid angler I appreciate a captain who truly enjoys fishing, doesn't watch the clock, and doesn't mind sharing his knowledge. Plus he is a dog lover - just an added bonus in my opinion. I look forward to fishing with him again!

BEWARE: MONEY FOR THE GAS YOU USE IS MORE IMPORTANT TO THEM THAN YOUR SAFETY!!!…read more When I arrived with my family, including my 80 year old Mom and special needs son, the kid, who I later found out was brand new, mentioned that there was a weather warning but his manger said we were good to go out. I had never boated on the Hudson and while I asked lots of questions, I had no idea the waves would come over the bow, drenching and terrifying my entire family. I expressed my extreme dissatifaction on our return and all they could focus on was how much I owed them for gas! I also found (only after we returned) that they were forced to keep their pontoon boats in but let us take a similarly flat boat out. I recognize that you ultimately have to own your safety but am extremely dissapointed that for the amount you must pay to be in this boat club that you cannot trust the people that run it! The club leadership has no couth! A guy named Lee called me as I was driving home, soaked to my underwear and literally asked me to give him my credit card number while I was driving and refused to accept any accountability for their manager telling the kid at the dock it was ok to go out. They could care less about your safety! You are just a gas payment for them to make their money on a day no one should be on the water. After receiving a email with a $100+ bill for gas a few days later, I paid it right away. I tried to move on and find other opportunities to continue to use the club. Most locations I tried to book were unavailible or had reach their reciprocal limit. They advertise that you have access to amazing locations worldwide. My experience has been that over 90% of the places I tried to boat had reached their reciprocal limit already, basically not being accessible. Yet another false promise. Upon trying to book in Haverstraw NY, I learned that the Freedom Boat club suspended my membership because, "I was angry at them on the day I boated". Read above and you know why anyone would be angry. They also said I threatened a lawsuit which was completely false! I explained that I paid them the $100+ for the gas and I need the suspension lifted. They then told be they can suspend anyone for anything they want at any time and that their contracts are filled with legalease protecting them. There is nothing I could do about it and that's that! I am sure to no surprise, I have canceled my membership. After having to pay a $5,000 unrefundable fee upfront and then $453 every month for over a year, no matter how infrequently I was able to boat or not based on lack of boats availible, I was then pitched an offer allow 2 rolling reservations opposed to the 4 I had. This option would lower my monthly rate to $249 plus tax. No one shared this was an option when I joined or anytime in over a year that they could see I was not able to use the service (mosting because every time I tried, the boats were unavailible or the reciprocal limits were reached. The Freedom Boat Club is a scam, driven by empty promises in the sales process and an upfront fee that I since learned could have been a lot lower than the $5,000 I was duped into paying! This business is a sales machine, protected by legalease (which they brag about) allowing them to treat members anyway they want! Don't fall for their scam. This is the worst group of people I have ever encountered in my life. Please don't fall into their trap!

Clam chowder has chunks of real clam and potatoes. Restaurant quality fried calamari with seasoned breading. Quesadilla was a big size and the chicken was juicy. Thankfully, someone finally put up some photos of FOOD and we went! Reminder: I always judge based on the type of place. I'm not comparing this to a fine dining restaurant. This is a great little casual place to watch the water, drink a craft beer and eat some darn decent chow! First off: GPS took us to the private members only club next door. We had to hunt to find it. Once we did, could there be better views on a sunny spring day??? They have a nice covered tent in case the sun is too much for you. You order at the window and they give you a buzzer for when your food is ready. You go next store to the bait shop for beverages...and yes, there are drawers of live bait next to the fridge, but sealed and no smell at all. Here's what we ordered: Pear & Gorgonzola Salad with Champagne dressing: WOW! SOOOOOO good! Real pears (unlike the fancy-schmancy expensive place we went a few months back that had the audacity to serve canned pears!). Nice fresh greens, yummy dressing (NOT ken's or anything of that nature, thankfully), nice fresh crunchy walnuts, cranberries and a generous helping of yummy gorgonzola. WIN! Shrimp Tacos: Three nicely appointed with fresh slaw. The tacos are flour and should have been warmed. If they were, this would have been perfect. Still, not bad for $!5! Fried Clam Strips & Fries: Because, you just have to, and stop judging us. It was worth the calories for the perfectly fried platter without a lick of grease to it. I could have stood for a little more salt on the fries. Clam strips did not seem to be pieces of whole clams...maybe minced mixed into a batter? Not my favorite way, but the batter was tasty and it did the trick. Overall, this place is a find. If you want a quiet hidden hang with good food and a spectacular view, this is the place.
