I joined the original Happy State Bank when they first came to Plainview. I have had business accounts, personal accounts, and stock in the bank. Since Centenial took over, I have watched high employee turnover, more fees and almost non-existant customer service with much regret. As a lifelong resident and long time customer, it dismays me to walk into the lobby and see empty desks, 0 smiling faces, plus strangers at the teller windows who ask for my ID even if I am only making deposits. As a result, I am in the process of removing all of my assets from this establishment. read more

I have been a customer of Happy State Bank for at least 15 years. HSB was awesome before allowing itself to be bought out a few years ago by Centennial Bank. Recently, a number of fraudulent charges were attempted by someone in Washington. These charges were all listed the same way: TMobile EIP Payment" which tells me someone was trying to purchase a phone with my money. I got a text from Centennial alerting me of the fraud and provided me a phone number to call the Fraud Department to discuss. So, I called, the rep read off all of the suspected fraud charges, and I advised all of the suspected fraud charges were, in fact, fraudulent. I thought I was in the clear; however, the following day, my account was overdraft with one of the fraudulent charges in the amount of $920!! I went to a local branch, explained what happened, and was told the fraud investigation could take anywhere from 2 weeks to 60 days!! I asked if I would just remain negative until then. Yes was the answer! Also, the bank would review the overdraft, and they MIGHT refund the overdrafts. Mind you, the $920 the bank allowed through to my account was labeled the same as all of the others. A kindergarten child would have been able to understand this, but not Happy State! I was advised I had no further recourse, and my loyalty as a customer for so many years was completely disregarded. Happy State Bank and Centennial Bank DO NOT VALUE CUSTOMERS!! It eventually got worked out, but I'm now in the process of changing banks. Good luck to you if you choose this Bank because you will never matter to this bank! read more

So apparently Happy state bank is screwing it's customers by posting transactions the way they want to do it puts you in the negative rather than how the customers are making them. That's what happened to us. So instead of having two transactions in overdraft they made it where we had five. This should be considered theft. Not good for customers. read more

I'm looking for a new bank since Centennial merged with Happy State. it takes days sometimes to see my transactions. Ive talked to other people & they say their bank shows their transactions in real time. I will change banks even though I've been with Happay over 20-25 years. read more

I went in the 45th and teckla location to open an account and deposit a 25,000 dollar check ...I sat in the lobby totally empty lobby for 10 to 15 mins as the older lady behind the desk was acknowledging me presents frequently....as she continued to have a discussion w another older lady about the color of the sky , what was on sale at big lots and Sally from down the street ( kidding) ...it was nothing to do w banking is what I'm getting at ...so as I sat there another 5 mins w her looking around doing nothing she called me up ...I explained to her the reason for being there , it was such a vibe that I received from her I didn't let her finish explaining the policy of the account...it was very clear she wanted to be left alone so I granted her that ...was a horrible experience and I will never step foot into one of there branches EVER again wish I could give 0 Stars read more

Since Happy merged with centennial bank, Happy State Bank is not the same bank anymore, they charged me to transfer money from savings to checking, and I was denied a loan, for a ridiculous reason. Happy State Bank is turning into Bank of America, do not bank with this bank. I am changing banks after 12 years. The customer service reminds me of Wells Fargo or Bank of America, which is not good. read more

Happy State Bank is no longer Texas owned or the same standards of personal care it built on! Happy State Bank is nothing but a shell now! Centtenial banking purchased Happy State and it immediately fell apart! it solely based on how much money they can get! They have laid off or tan off the only good help left at the local branch! The last great help was laid off at Christmas! read more

Happy State Bank is NO LONGER the reliable, family-owned business it once was. Centennial Bank purchased it, and they are just down right SHADY. I deposited a check for $2,500, and they didn't deposit it until 3 days later after several phone calls demanding they do so. The "deposit" in question is only for $200 when it came through. When asked why I wasn't receiving the full amount of my check that I deposited 4 days ago at this point, they told me that is simply how the system works, new policy, and they are essentially allowed to hold my money hostage as long as they please. Like I said, SHADY. Not to mention the cruelty I received from the customer service rep when asking the simple question of where is MY money? Avoid this bank at all costs. They are unethical and sure to scam any customers they have left. read more

This is definitely the best bank in all of west Texas! I don't know why they don't have more reviews, but I truely love this banking establishment and don't believe those negative reviewers at all! They are always HAPPY, and helpful with all of my banking needs. read more

Not this branch, but the bank in general. Sold out to an Arkansas bank and then makes me delete my mobile app and redownload the other one, says I need to change password but doesn't have any link to change password. Total cop out by ownership, could've sold to a Texas bank, but didn't. Embarrassing. read more

Happy state bank isn't the same anymore. I've cleared my account since they merged and it was suppose to be closed. I found out they haven't closed it after I was charged an NSF! This has happened twice and been trying to get a hold of someone to get this resolved but I'm always having to wait for an hour on the phone no matter how early I call! Still been waiting for someone to answer! read more

Been with Happy State Bank since 2002. But since they have been bought out by Centennial, they have gone downhill. It takes 15 to 20 minutes to get someone to return your phone call. My on-line account does not allow me to do as many things as the old system did. When talking to a service agent, what they see on their screen is not the same as what I see on my screen. The employees at the bank are still very friendly and helpful. I hate to leave after being with them so long, but need better on-line customer service and better quality of banking. read more

They are friendly and are great at helping get the job done. Some of the reviews about them are weird. I don't know why they want a credit check on employees? It kind of makes no sense. And the other review of shutting the building down because the few staff involved in their case is saddening. Not everyone is bad and not always can staff take care of all the needs depending on a company's policy. I think the staff is great. read more

this bank is the worst ever. There is no personal touch. It's like pulling teeth to get a loan even though you have bank d with them for 10 years. Everyone is rude and hateful and I'm pulling my money out read more
