The Royal Nut Company is the front of house shop to a factory that imports, processes and distributes a lot of (you guessed it) nuts and other bulk foods for other wholesale and retail companies. As such it is very very cheap and the range is quite diverse. The initial reason I went there was because I wanted some Szechuan pepper which I was having a hard time finding anywhere. Well the Royal Nut Company has a massive range of really really cheap spices. It is totally worth going there on a regular occasion to stock up your pantry with all sorts of tasteful goodies. You may end up spending far more than you initially thought you would. But don't distress - you will be saving money in the long run. Trust me. They stock a range of grains, legumes, dried fruit, herbs, spices, nuts, nut butters and tinned food amonst various other things.

I had high hopes but this Yo-art wasn't up to the standard I had experienced at the city store. The topping selection was mostly packet candy and wasn't neatly presented. Nothing appealed to us so I went sans-topping. The froyo itself wasn't mind blowing, and for the price ($8.50 for a regular portion that I shared) I was expecting higher quality. The mango flavour tasted very fake which was disappointing as I had assumed that they would use natural ingredients given the high price they are charging.

My daughter had been telling me about the steak and eggs since she landed a month ago and promised me she would take me as soon as I arrived. It's all I could think about to get me through the terrible airplane food. Worth every uncomfortable minute of poor sleep and food deprivation. The flavors are impossible to describe in these dishes but are absolute perfection. She got the eggs Benedict which is placed on a base of yuzu instead of the traditional muffin. We scraped the sauce up using the lotus root and lettuce until nothing was left. The steak was tender and flavorful with a mushroom gravy that wasn't too heavy but perfect for dipping the fries and eggs into. It's all I think about now, day in and day out until I can go back and eat it again. It haunts my every waking minute. I don't know what I'll do when I have to fly home and can't get it back in the states. If you find yourself anywhere near Melbourne...or Australia...make the trek to Humble Rays in Carlton. It's worth it. Everything on the menu looked amazing. The banana matcha cloud and Orange espresso are both unique and unexpected plays on the traditional drinks that will change your mind about all sorts of flavors. The service and ambience also win! We were lucky and got there right before the line stacked up down the block. It is recommended you make a reservation even for brunch. That line was looooong. But worth it!

Such a weird idea but I really loved it! I'm a huge sweet and savory combo fan so bear in mind if you don't like sweet and salty together this isn't the dish for you. Then the smell of coffee hit me and my taste senses were in overdrive. The coffee was a perfect interlude to the day and the chocolate choices amazing. Made with care it all complimented the ambience of being away from the main drag at Ivanhoe. Will be back on my journeys and no doubt will leave with gifts of chocolates for loved ones.
