Either way, places such as this become treasure troves of pre-loved goods, where you can buy guitars and other musical bits and bobs, TV's, mobile phones, watches, all that kind of stuff. It's a small, crowded, almost dingy little store on William street, but it does the job. If you're looking for some second hand goods, give them a call with your request, or drop in if you want a scout around for a good deal. I did. And I think I'll come back too. As a pawn shop, its good, just not a huge place. They have a nice range of guitars.

They have so much art that's on auction and the prices they were selling at was just stunning. Names from Bromley to Jasper Knight to original Aboriginal pieces and even Persian rugs and bronze antiques. Absolutely awing. Did I mention they also do home contents auction?! The owner Danny who is also the auctioneer had so much energy and worked up the house so well, each piece was auctioned in a blink of an eye. When you first walk in the showroom had pieces of art hung all around the back walls with rugs on the floor and the statues in the middle. Before you know it the staff filled the whole room with chairs and all the art was taken down one by one ready for the new lucky owner to bring home. It was also their once every quarter auction so you can only imagine how packed the place was. They were kind enough to have complimentary snacks and coffee/tea which was a pretty good touch. Better start saving up for their next one.

However yesterday I rang their landline after receive a home contents auction brochure to enquire about holding one as we have some valuable art (Norman Lindsay, Proharts, David Boyd) and it was an appalling service experience. Unfortunately the line was poor and I was struggling to understand the 'gentleman' so I had to apologise and ask him to repeat himself a few times. Obviously this was annoying for him as he exclaimed very clearly "Jesus Christ!" as I asked him to repeat how many weeks were needed to allow for an auction. I said that I heard "that" very clearly and he didn't apologise which was the least that he could have done. Needless to say I won't be holding one of their inhome auctions (or recommending) in spite of the numerous times their website refers to their professional friendly service.

(In fact, this is the store where those crazy kids Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were snapped by the paps when they were in Sydney earlier in the year.) This shop is great for gifts and homewares like rugs and lamps. Everything is extra colourful, so be careful you don't get caught up in it like I did and end up walking out with a so-bright-it-hurts-my-eyes skirt I'll never wear again.
