Oh. My. Gosh. Tucked away next to the upstairs Seafood Cove, Trang brought my hair fantasy to life! She was so patient and upbeat, making sure that we could come up with a color that I'd fall in love with and she made my dreams come true! I kept scrolling through my Pinterest board, struggling to word what I had specifically wanted since there weren't any photos of a chocolate brown with some blonde highlights, but she brought it to life. She was so sweet and normally with bleach, dye, & tone sessions like this at other salons would be far more costly, she charged much less than $150 despite including a minicut by reshaping my grown out butterfly haircut that I had also previously gotten here by Ut with some styling. This place is seriously underrated and a true hidden gem. My hair is still super healthy despite having slightly wavy photosensitive asian hair which can end up frizzy rather quickly but she was able to preserve its health while helping me achieve my absolute hair goals! I would highly recommend coming here during the afternoon since it's normally packed with asian aunties getting their monthly perm in and they tend to give more attention to detail during the afternoon hours. read more

Been coming here for decades. Never ever a disappoint. Will never find another Seamy to do my husband and my hair. Jenny also do my hair if Seamy's on vacation. My mom and I get my haircut here all the time. They always take me in as soon as possible, even without an appointment. They have good quality hair cuts, and the stylists are super friendly. I try to wait to cut my hair so I can come down here from Los Angeles to do so. They speak English and Vietnamese, so for a Viet kieu kid like me I can get my haircut comfortably here. They take cash, so be sure to get your money ready before heading over. Also note that parking in front of this business can be a nightmare so I park a bit away in the same parking lot area, but with more room for me to park and exit safely. I love my people (the Vietnamese) but I cannot trust that they will drive safely. read more

You can't beat the price for kids hair cut. Young kids $6 and $8 for older kids. $15 for female. $3 for hair wash. The price isn't so bad. The inside is Asian vibe with couple of hairstylist. But the best hairstylist in their is the man. He knows how to style your hair and what works for your head. Not all hair style works for every head. That's why his preference might be good to listen too. Beware, when you say to cut only 2 inches. It will be about 3-4inches. So my trick is to say 1 inch. That way, he will cut up to 2 inches. It doesn't beat $15 + $3 hair wash to get my haircut. This is my review for haircut only. I'm not sure how coloring. They might not be on the dot with that one. My boyfriend took me here to get a haircut and highlight done. I never knew this place was so close and very friendly. I was surprised for the prices they charged which is pretty cheapeand it was good quality. My hairstylist was sweet and accommodating me. I wanted to keep my long hair to medium length at least for the haircut. As for the highlight I wanted light brown. Beside just hair services they do offer nails and facial services. My mom swears by this place. It's a cheap hair cut, and hers always comes out alright. It's one of a few places that uses razors instead of scissors. I got my hair cut here once and I was dreadfully disappointed. It was way too short, but everyone else liked it, and it grew out to be rather attractive looking. I didn't want to wait. I have trouble going to places that describe themselves. Happy hair? My hair had better be happy. I still can't bring myself to go to Tasty Goody Chinese food. We were heading to Seafood Cove 2 to eat dimsum when we walked past this place. Didn't even look like a beauty salon. Peering in from the outside it looked like an old runned down tacky Vietnamese hair salon. But my toes needed a pedicure and I was wondering where to go that was cheap since I just needed cuticles clean and fresh polish no other bells and whistles. Saw the yelp reviews rave about Mr Ut and his hair cutting skills so I called and Mr Ut answered and said pedicure is $15 which includes massage too. When I finally went back yesterday a little Vietnamese woman did my pedicure and wasn't super chatty which I appreciated because I was focusing on Mr Ut (he wears a hat and has the cordless phone attached to him) cutting hair from my nail spa chair. He made both older men and women look younger after their cuts. I asked the lady helping me if all the good reviews on yelp about Mr Ut are true and she said yes he's been cutting hair for over 20 years and even her own mom goes to him. I asked how much he charges for a haircut and she said for long hair like mine with wash too would be $17. Too bad I just got mine, regret not coming here for both pedicure and cut!!! read more

Said he did a good job with hair... that is the last time I ever took any fashion or hair advice from my mother. I went in for a haircut and wanted a simple, layered cut. He suggested parting my hair to the side a little further than I usually have it, saying it was all the rage these days among the young women. Okay, I said, trusting it would look decent. He cut too much off the top and gave me a nice Eddie Van Halen look. For months that's all I was called. I had to wait for my hair to grow out. In the mean time, I had to keep running my hand through my hair because the combover kept getting in my face. Hate this place. Now I know why my mother recommended this place: haircut was only $20. Oh man...I've been to this hair salon since I was like 4 years old. I still can't believe that after 17 years it's still alive. Hahahah. It's a really cheap haircut. I pay $15 dollars for a haircut. One of the few places that still uses a razor cut hair. It's always a hit or miss when I come here. Some days they don't cut my hair short enough, or they cut it too short, or not enough layering in the hair, or too much layering. Hahaha. In the end though, every time it grows out it looks really nice. The staff is super nice. So Chu Ut is very good in styling and cutting hair, and the price is unbeatable. You can find no other place around Bolsa still have $12 women cut. I have been with this salon for about 10 years already and they still have not raised the price yet. Very good service since all the stylists are super friendly. Been going here since 1990. Damn. 22 years. My mom goes here. My dad goes here. I go here and now my 3 year old daughter goes here and she LOVES it. And you know how hard it is to get kids to get their haircut. Anyway, Ut, or "Sunny", is the owner. I guess that explains the name Happy Hair! He specializes in cutting women's hair and he's super good at it. You should definitely just let him do what he thinks is good. You might give him some direction though which would be helpful. For 20 years, I've always had him it it, refusing to let anyone else cut my hair. But he's so busy that I started getting my hair cut by his other staff and they do a good job too. $8 or men's (+tip) and $12 for women's. $6 for kids. Highlight and perm are probably the best price you will find anywhere. Believe it or not, there are actually cheaper places, but this place is about value, not lowest cost. It's upstairs next to the dim sum restaurant so a little off the beaten path but well worth it. You WILL be back. Wish more people would write reviews but most of the customers aren't of the yelping variety... But it's always so heartwarming going during May. I always see one girl who just glows because she has the perfect hair for prom. Sunny and his team have a real talent and vision for sculpting really nice hair. read more
