One of my daughters even has a half-day at school before being brought to daycare by the school bus, and she's always met on time, making for a smooth transition to the rest of her day at Guidepost. My son is starting to talk now, and it's incredible to hear the new words he learns at daycare. Miss Nereida and Miss Jelena have a special bond with him, and he clearly loves his time with them. Being our first child, we were understandably apprehensive about daycare, but it didn't take long to see how caring each of his teachers were. Every classroom he's been in has been an excellent experience. The teachers are attentive and great at communication. Their Sproutabout app, which they use to send parents updates, is second to none, and being able to check in on the live cameras at any point gave us the transparency we needed to feel comfortable. Please don't think of this as your average daycare. The teachers who care for the kids are truly teaching our little guy so much. Every single day he comes home sharing what he's learned, sharing new experiences, arts and crafts and he genuinely enjoys being there. Lastly, I cannot speak highly enough of the facility leadership. They communicate so well with us, they're always cheerful, and they have strong bonds with the kids who attend. They handle challenging situations well. There's so much to speak highly of. This is the school's…read moresecond location (they have a really reputable gifted program in the city we'd heard about and we were excited they opened one up in Hinsdale). As we're approaching the end of the school year, I wanted to share some of my thoughts from the year. He's consistently happy and really enjoys attending the full day program, and as parents, we're thrilled by all the artwork (using this term artwork liberally here) he brings home and the constant communication from the school (they use the Brightwheel app) in the form of photos (several very cute photos every day) and updates (when he eats, how much, diapering times / updates, nap, etc.) The teachers are always happy and smiling at dropoffs and pickups (and so is our son), and we've been very happy with both the quality and consistency of the teachers and the staff. Our little one has developed a bunch over time, as well. He's about to turn two, and has picked up some words and good habits from school - Mandarin (Chinese), Spanish, English, and some basic sign language as well. This has helped him communicate with us better at home as well. I think the school has invested heavily in high quality Montessori toys. Everything is new, and our little one has really enjoyed the diversity of math / language / picture / tactile learning toys. We didn't know what to expect in terms of improvement independence and concentration, and don't know how much of this is the school vs. normal "development," but our little one has definitely picked up and had an opportunity to work on both his independence and concentration skills at school. He can hold his attention span much longer than I would've expected for a kid of this age. He also has his group of "friends," which is hilarious for an almost two year old. I heard that "parallel play" persists through year three of a child's life, but he's always observing and tagging along with his group of friends and it's super cute. I think where this school really shines would be the multilingual component and the overall quality of the staff and teachers. There's a dedicated Spanish speaking teacher and two dedicated Chinese speaking teachers who only speak to the kids in those languages. The staff and teachers have a great balance of competence and compassion. They are excellent communicators (we hear from the school multiple times a week) and there's a lot of extracurricular programming (events to involve parents and grandparents) that we've really enjoyed. The Chinese New Year event was very special where they brought in a lion dancer and the kids put on a show with the guidance of the teachers. We've built a bit of a parents community as well - very strong sense of community among the parents. We all seem to be very busy on the professional front while being like-minded in how we love and invest in our children.

From day one, he felt supported and cared for by the teachers, who created a warm and nurturing environment. The activities were thoughtfully designed and engaging, helping him grow in confidence, independence, and curiosity. Ms. Sheila and Ms. Tamilla in the infant room take such amazing care of her, that most days she doesn't want to come home! Maple Tree felt right from the second we went to visit. We looked at about a dozen montessori preschools and there wasn't a better one. We looked in Glen Ellyn, Downers, Lombard... The school itself is adorable. It is quiet and peaceful and clean. The student/teacher ratio is very low. We were made to feel very welcome from the first day. The directress Jean Gottlieb is such a sweet and caring woman. She clearly loves children and understands child developement. She has been willing to answer questions, give advice and simply listen to parenting and educational concerns. The school has organic lunch catered in for the children, with vegetarian options, and prides itself on being earth friendy and passing those values on to the children. They are nut free and don't allow sugary snacks...this is a huge change from what we were used to, but I love it! All this and we can already see learning in leaps and bounds. Our daughter has started reading and understanding concepts in math that she wasn't before. We are thrilled to have found Maple Tree. If only we could have been there from the beginning!

You pay a little more but the quality of care and education for us, has been worth it. When she gets a little older, we are excited about the lunch menu!
