Sarah Lynn Photography - The other failed family photo

"I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy!" Dropping to my knees in pure wonderment, bowing in her direction…read morerepeatedly. Am I being dramatic, you ask? More like underselling! There truly aren't words that I could convey to describe the magic Sarah creates behind the lens, but humor me as I attempt. Living in California, I'm used to overpaying for mediocre everything. This is typically the name of the game. The thought of spending $8,000 for a photographer I wasn't crazy about was keeping me up at night; but unfortunately was our reality. It never occurred to me to reach outside of our overpriced-California-bubble, until a good friend was researching for her own Wedding. At first I thought she was nuts, considering photographers in Hawai'i, Washington, Arizona, Oregon; and initially wrote off her notion. Enter, Sarah Willey. Upon the first "check this photographer out" text, I was hooked. It was a done deal in my head, but still I grappled with the idea of travel costs, distance, unfamiliarity with the area, etc. etc. etc. Upon my first contact and phone conversation with Sarah, all those concerns melted away. She was immediately my favorite person. She was down to earth, bubbly, funny, professional, and her price packages were unbeatable. Too good to be true? It wasn't. She was everything and more. And she delivered. This is where my words turn into head nods, shoulder shrugs, teary eyes, and hand claps. In other words, THERE ARE NO WORDS. What she captured on our Wedding day, is purely indescribable magic. I don't know how she did it. Each photo encapsulated the raw emotion we felt in each moment, from our first look, to our vows, to the food, decor, dance floor, everything was perfectly captured in a forever keepsake. Memories in the form of photos. But not just any photos; beautiful, rich, enchanting photos. I feel forever in her debt for producing the most priceless time-capsule souvenirs of the best day of our lives. Sarah was the best Wedding decision we made and we will be forever grateful.

Sarah is simply the best! She will make you feel so at ease while she rocks it behind the camera…read more We've had her take photos every year of my son on his birthday and have already planned to do it again this year. I cannot wait! She is worth every penny. Oh! And she gets back the edited photos in lightning speed and gives you the digital files. I personally dislike when photographers require you to buy prints through them exclusively and Sarah is not one of those photographers. I even asked her once where she recommended getting my files printed and she said Costco. Perfect! Ha! Seriously, why are you still reading? Go book her before someone else does.

I paid $2,550 for my wedding photography and genuinely regret choosing this photographer. After…read moreposting an honest negative review, she even threatened legal action--despite having no grounds for it. It made me wonder how many couples before me have been pressured into silence. The online gallery she uses is extremely outdated and unreliable. It took me EIGHT attempts to download my own wedding photos--and I'm a software engineer on gigabit fiber. The issue was not on my end; her server repeatedly failed. Earlier in October, her gallery also included at least one photo that appeared to be warped by AI (two versions of the same image, one with my face oddly altered and facing the wrong direction). She said the final edits would be uploaded later, so I planned to re-download everything once those were ready. But by November, the gallery kept failing and I couldn't reliably access the finalized version at all. I wish I could upload the AI-warped photo here so others could see what I mean, but her contract prevents clients from sharing images in "unauthorized" ways--and based on her legal threats, I'm afraid she'd try to sue. The bigger problem: the USB drive included in my package--the backup in case the gallery failed--never arrived. She mailed it through USPS with no insurance or protection. When it went missing, USPS couldn't help, and the tracking number went nowhere. When I told her plainly that the USB never arrived and the gallery was repeatedly failing, her response was essentially: "Too bad. Pay again." She wanted $68.95 for a replacement and offered no assistance with the gallery issues. Refusing to replace a missing deliverable that represents a tiny fraction of the $2,550 I already paid felt shockingly stingy and unprofessional. She could have replaced it--she simply chose not to. And here's what should concern any bride: If the gallery had completely failed and the USB was lost, we would have had no access to our final edited wedding photos at all, despite paying thousands of dollars. No reputable photographer should ever leave clients in that position. Update: Only after I warned her that I would be leaving a negative review--and then actually posted it--did she finally offer to send a replacement USB. A few days later, USPS unexpectedly located the original package at a different facility, over a month after it had been marked "delivered." I picked it up and told her a replacement was no longer needed. Her reaction? She took that opportunity to double down and blame ME for USPS' mistakes, implying I hadn't done my "due diligence," even though we had visited the post office multiple times and called in, visited the tracking site, and in all attempts was told there was nothing they could do. A professional vendor insures important shipments, ensures deliverability, and advocates for their clients--not points fingers. To make matters worse, I later learned from my wedding venue who recommended her that -- independent of my complaint -- that they already happened to have removed her from their preferred vendor list prior to any outreach from me due to other unrelated, but repeated, issues they had with her independently which they had already given her feedback for, and which she was unable to improve on. Therefore, it appears that the concerns I experienced were not an isolated case. Apparently my wedding was the last wedding she would be photographing at my venue because she was already discontinued by the time I mentioned my problem to them. In my experience, when something goes wrong, she does not take responsibility and instead blames the client. With a once-in-a-lifetime event like a wedding, that is not a risk I would ever take again. Update #2: She later responded to my review claiming that I had already downloaded my photos in October. Sure okay -- I downloaded what was available back then after multiple attempts as well, but those files included the warped AI-looking image, which obviously meant they weren't the finalized edits. Who realistically would settle for that instead of asking that the final versions of the photos of their wedding they paid thousands for be provided? In her response she says, "This matter has been resolved and the client has received everything included in the contract." Sure, technically the gallery photos and USB eventually made it here, but during that whole process, it was pretty awful having to deal with her constant assumptions & blame, dismissiveness, repeated evasions of responsibility, and threats of legal action being taken against me for complaining.

His images capture the spirit of our events and eliminate the contrived photos that are typical of awards ceremonies and outdoor events. He is extremely professional, and non-intrusive while interacting with guests. He captures the moment at our events in so many different ways we can't quite figure out how he got from here to there in that amount of time - but its impressive. And he provides our photos quickly so we can send them out to our community in a timely manner. In 2017 we booked early to lock down those two events, and two more our Kickoff Party in January and Kickball Tournament in August. When planning events you are always looking for great vendors who, in addition to providing stellar service, make your life easier the day of the big event. Jason DeSomer does this, and I can't recommend his services enough.

Jason was everything I was looking for in a photographer, and more!…read more I was searching for a photographer online and Jason's work stood out to me because he has an eye for great camera angles and subject placement, and his photos were very crisp and clear with great lighting and editing (something I found lacking in many others' portfolios). When I emailed him, his quotes were clear and reasonable, and he outlined everything in detail. I was modeling some outfits for a photo shoot in my house. Thankfully, Jason had a lot of great ideas for posing and I already knew the photos would turn out amazing! (I've done shoots with other photographers where I was given no direction and most of the photos came out awkward or meh). I was very happy with the shoot and the photos I received. I would definitely work with Jason again, and recommend him to anyone needing quality photos!
