Super eatery situated at the Qube quadrant inside the Metrocentre.
Like all the restaurants in the Qube, The Handmade Burger co. is an open fronted venue, but has the good grace to set it's tables well back from the Mall walkways so there is no chance of feeling overlooked unlike some other eateries here.
It has a rustic feel, with large solid tables, farmhouse style chairs and soft pleather side seating against the walls. The lighting near the rear of the eating area gets a little dim, but I expect the younger folk dont notice this one jot!
The staff were young, welcoming and friendly and were happy to explain to two noobs how the ordering service worked. We were asked if we wanted drinks whilst we chose from the menu and these were brought quickly with the offer that any further drinks would be brought to us on request.
The burger menu has a good choice, including lamb, chicken and vege options alongside the traditional beef.
I opted for the Moroccan lamb and hubby went for the Classic beef burger and 2 side orders of chips. It wasnt too long before they arrived, hot and fresh. The chips were quite possibly the best I've tasted in a long while: not those awful pasty things you get in chip shops these days, but 'proper' chips, golden, hand cut and with real flavour.
The burgers were big and juicyI can't fault them at all and I'm damn picky about food! The salad was crisp, the dressings just right and not overpowering, allowing the tasy burger to shine through which is what you want when they are this good.
Too soon, we'd munched them down and our bellies were full. A queue had started to form at the entrance and fully as satisfied as we were, it was easy to see why people were willing to wait for a seat! read more
