We also spent some time upstairs in the museum with Rob, who explained the swords and weapons displayed. It was very interesting and informative. We visited the cemetery as well. They have golf carts to rent if you have mobility issues or are too lazy to walk. We walked. This is a fine, historic property and something you should check out in Biloxi.

The cost of admission is $15 for adults and will take around 2 hours. They do a guided tour which last for 20 minutes which is a Mary talking about the house 20 minutes straight. For me, my attention span was low that day and everything went in and out of my ear. After that, you get to tour the grounds like the kitchen, guest quarters, etc which I enjoyed the most. The place is pretty big. Make sure when you head back to go to the 2nd floor as there are a lot of artifacts. It was worth my time going however.

Imagine my surprise when I discovered this town, cruised along Beach Boulevard waving at everyone and no one returned my wave. It was only then that I realized that Waveland was named for the water waves and not the resident's proclivity for waving as you drive by. Bummer. Despite that disappointing discovery, Waveland is still a great place. Located on the Bay, Waveland has very little wave action as compared to other Gulf Coast Beaches. This means that the water is occasionally murky, but it also means that it is almost always calm, and kid friendly. Waveland differs from Bay St. Louis in a couple of ways. Waveland has one area along Beach Blvd. that has no beach and appears to be an area where people fish and crab. Use caution when driving through that area as the people tend to walk across the road unexpectedly. Another difference is the lack of homes and businesses along the beach road. To some this a good thing and you can have more privacy, but that is often negated by the heavy traffic heading to the Silver Slipper Casino. On my most recent day trip here I found a great spot next to an old pier that had been destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The pier was a sad reminder of an awful time, but since all that was left was the pilings, the pelicans used it as a resting spot between fishing for lunch. If you go, I would recommend that spot unless of course I am already there. In that case you can find your own spot and add it to your review. In summary, I am an idiot, and this beach is pretty cool.

When we were in the HOT water, saw a stingray swim by our foot, kind of freaked me out a little bit so I quickly shuffled back in shore. If I lived here, I would be there every weekend with my float hanging out. Loved seeing a group with a cooler floating in the water with their fishing poles ... seems like they would be a great group to hang with for a day.

The I-10 Twin Span Bridge is two three-lane bridges that carry Interstate 10 across Lake Pontchartrain between New Orleans and Slidell. 5.4 miles long and 60 feet wide with 30 foot clearance across most of the bridge and 80 foot clearance at the bascule section. The bridge was opened in 2009 with one of the bridges and then the other in 2010 with the completion of all work done in 2011. I crossed this bridge three times - once each coming and going and then the third time was just going. I took US 90 the other time and that review is coming soon. It is smooth and easy and very, very straight. As such, the speed can be a little intense. New Orleans is a big city and they not only drive fast here, they lane jockey. Crazy! The bridge carries two lanes of US-90 traffic in each direction plus there is a 12 foot wide pedestrian and bicycle path on the Gulf side. It is just over 2 miles. The durability and stability should be the basis for all bridges, but sadly, that is not always the case. This is not the fastest way to travel along the coast, but it sure is the prettiest.
