If you are ever near Darmstadt Germany which is approx. 15 min south of Frankfurt on the first…read moreweekend in July I definitely suggest you visit the Heinerfest. It is a fun local fest that spans thru the entire inner City in Darmstadt. It starts on a Thursday late afternoon and ends on Monday night with a huge firework. There are plenty of rides for the young at heart available and also for the smaller children. Plenty of food booth with a very wide variety of food. Ample amount of Beer tents that also have food. A few arts and crafts booths and a variety of food stands with everything your tummy desires. Pizza, Brats, Garlic Mushrooms, Crepes, Fish in Buns you think of it they probably have it. Sundays is usually very crowded. If you can somehow manage to visit on a Thursday night or Friday that would probably be your best bet. The fireworks on Monday night also was very impressive.

In a small town like Bad Hersfield there isn't much to do but come the 16th of October the town…read morewill be booming with not only the locals but many tourists from around the country If your into the history here is the snip it version. On October 16 786 Lull the founder of Benedictine monastery in Bad Hersfield who passed away. In his name this later created a recurring annual religious festival Lullusfest. The festival extended to three days, after 1373 with the reformation of the church the festival slowly faded away but the fair remained. From 1911 the fair extended to Monday at 12:00pm to Thursday 1:00am now being called the Lullusfreiheit remains till today as weekly festival within the city once a year on The week of October 16th. If your able to catch the begging of the festival it's really a sight to see. There's a fairly large parade throughout the town followed with music from the bands and people singing which then leads to the opening of the festival. There is a huge fire from carefully structured logs creating a hut successfully burning till the end of the festival. You can buy nuts throw them into the fire and make a wish. There is so much to do from the amazing rides, tasty food, amazing desserts, and of course you can't forget the beer there really isn't anything you won't like about this time of the year.
