When a clinic's customer service and professionalism decline from the top down, that's ultimately an ownership and leadership problem. I was recently frustrated after waiting 8 hours for a response about medication prescribed to my dog the previous day that he was not reacting well to. Instead of addressing the fact that I had been waiting all day for an answer concerning the too high dosage of my dog's prescription as he is bleeding out the backside, the focus became the fact that I got frustrated with their brushing off of the situation. In fact, the lack of urgency doubled. That says a lot about the priorities of this business. Customers should be treated with professionalism, but so should their concerns, especially when it involves an animal that may be having a reaction to medication they prescribed just the day before. This company is strictly a business, and not a good one at that. Not worth the chance with all the vets in this area if you ask me. After years of loyalty, I'm extremely disappointed, but not surprised . They have been on a noticeable decline. Northwoods has lost the character and customer service that once made me comfortable trusting them with my pets. My advice is stay away.

I was bringing my dog in for a second opinion before making the difficult decision of whether to put her through another extensive and very expensive reconstructive surgery. Deep down, I had a gut feeling that another surgery wasn't the best option, but I needed someone I could trust to be honest with me. Dr. Bolen took the time to carefully review all of Lizzie's medical records and X-rays, performed a thorough examination, and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. He told me that he would not recommend putting her through another surgery. He was honest about potential issues that could arise in the future, but he also discussed other treatment options that were much less invasive and far less costly. I left the appointment feeling an overwhelming sense of relief. More importantly, I left with hope and complete confidence that I had received an honest, compassionate opinion that truly put my dog's best interests first. Unfortunately, the visit quickly became one of the hardest we've experienced as Rescue pet parents. During the exam, we were given devastating news: our beloved rescuer pet (she rescued us) has a heart murmur. Hearing this was heartbreaking and overwhelming. We were then presented with estimates exceeding $3,000 for the recommended testing and follow-up care. While we understand the importance of proper diagnostics and treatment, the emotional weight of the news, combined with the financial reality, was incredibly difficult to process in that moment. Our pet has been part of our family for over six years. She is not "just a pet" to us--she is deeply loved, cherished, and woven into our daily lives. The thought of life without her is unimaginable, and we are committed to doing everything we can to keep her healthy and comfortable for as long as possible. My poor cat suffered needlessly because of a missed condition by GCVC. The new vet gave her a course of antibiotic therapy and within a week - THANK GOD - her chronic coughing spells disappeared and haven't returned. I'm so mad at myself but even more disappointed that GCVC , after several visits and A LOT OF MONEY, couldn't diagnose the pneumonia!!

It is, however, very unfortunate that Animal Medical Clinic of Goose Creek does not see an issue with charging the customer $26.95 for 3 (THREE) Galliprant pain pills. That's almost $9/pill! When I asked to speak to the office manager the next morning, notes were taken and it was explained that it is always cheaper to buy in bulk - no kidding! I explained that I was very unhappy with their price gouging practices and that at this point I am simply appalled and disgusted. I was told that the office manager would get in touch with me. While I haven't heard from the office manager, I did receive a call to confirm our appointment. When I asked for our appointment to be canceled, declined to reschedule, and thanked the young lady for her help, I heard something that sounded like "ok" and then I was hung up on. Considering their unethical business practices, not only did they lose our vet business for two dogs, they lost our boarding business as well and so much more....

All the times I came in asking about this and that and all you did was dismiss things as "nervous or boredom" habits. Let me tell you now- she had kidney disease. Chronic Kidney Disease. That means she suffered for who knows how long because of your missed diagnosis. All the visits, the bloodwork, the urinalysis', the special ointments and such and all the while I was misled. I was responsible for her and I trusted you. I caution anyone to not take their dogs to you unless it is in routine of nature because you don't want to deal with the bigger picture or issues. When she got very sick towards the end, I brought her to you guys and spent so much time (that could have been valuable elsewhere), money(I didn't care how much because she was my world), and effort to try to get her help. She could have been helped so much sooner if I had just taken her to someone else. You even had the audacity to play down my concern and on top of that you patronized me about the taste of the antacids and punted me to the other doctor on staff because you were "too busy" to see her. You guys sold me an expensive prescription diet that I found out only days later was bad for her because of the fat content and her condition. I never got a summary of findings from the ultrasound that I also paid an absurd amount for, again for the wrong diagnosis. I have been so upset, I haven't been able to write this. I haven't known what to say or how to say it. It boils down to it didn't have to be this way, you should be ashamed and you should have done better-done right by us. We had to have Daika euthanized on May 24th because she was in excruciating pain, vomiting, and uncontrollably pottying on herself. She was and forever will be my sweet, sweet angel that never deserved any of the pain she had to endure. I had to tell you this because I thought the world of you before. Before I knew better. Please do not allow this to happen to someone else's pet. Please use this experience to help others, not let them down.
