But when I think of American Top Team in Connecticut, there is no name bigger than Luigi Mondelli. He is greatly respected in the martial arts community and has many accolades to his name. You will most definitely want to attend this school for the wealth of knowledge of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, as well as Kickboxing/Muay-Thai and MMA. However, if you are looking for a new way to shed some weight, gain confidence, or looking to meet cool people, Luigi has built a community that welcomes all. When Luigi teaches us the lethal arts there is an interesting juxtaposition of warmth, humor and humanity in his teachings. I am proud to call Amerian Top Team my home, I am proud to call Luigi Mondelli my Master, and I believe you will too.

I learned that the school owner (Mr. Michael) has been practicing Taekwondo for most of his life, and it really resonates with his students. I'm very happy to have started my child in his program and when my younger son becomes old enough, we will enroll him as well.

Mr. Pereira and the school were extremely inviting and the warm atmosphere they create made beginning so easy. It is a great workout and really helps with confidence, body awareness, and is a great activity for mindfulness. I cannot stress how much of a benefit this is for me. The smaller class size is also great for learning and matching up with someone of comparable skill. It was a little difficult to find at first, however, and the dojo is on the smaller side.

They have both consistently attended 2 classes a week, and both still really enjoy it. I highly recommend anyone interested in a dojo for their kids to go for the trial lessons offered. What drew us to the dojo, and why it has been so beneficial for my sons, is the traditional and deep teaching which Sensei provides, given his vast experience. Further, Sensei and Lisa provide a structured and focused environment, which helps my sons practice discipline, stillness of mind, and control of body, which is what I was seeking for them, given the excitement and mayhem which surrounds so much our daily world. Where kids find self-control challenging when doing activities together, I appreciate the practice they get every class, as behaviroal expectations are clear, an the environment is set for them to learn and grow.
