My brother-in-law and I mutually despise each other therefore every time I visit my family in Connecticut I stay in a hotel. (Yes I have a condo but its occupied) I make a trip out of it and stay at the nicest hotel possible in the most random city In Connecticut (sorry Shelton-ians) Miles was amazingly welcoming when I shlepped in at 2 am to check in. While I was in an Uber during my drive from the airport he actually called to check in on me/my ETA which was really nice considering my own family was sleeping and no check in from them :/ My hotel room was Spacious, Clean and probably one of the most comfortable beds I've ever stayed in anywhere. They have complimentary breakfast apparently that's fantastic but I usually sleep until around noon. Snack shop has essentials where I purchase junk food to sneak to my nephews. The rooms need to be updated. They are pretty run down. The bathroom tub is dirty and no amount of cleaning can get it off. The furniture is banged up and upholstery dirty and worn. read more

I had a nice stay here for a work trip. The room I got was clean and comfortable, and it was pretty quiet despite there being a lot of guests. I also really appreciate that the toiletries came in large bottles that the hotel must refill or replace. Much more sustainable, and they were pretty good quality. The fitness center was also above average. There was a big window, and there was a selection of cardio and strength training equipment. Breakfast was pretty standard for a Hampton Inn, and the lobby/dinning area it's served in is pleasant. The area is very car dependent, but in the same parking lot plaza there is a Chipotle and CVS. I also darted across the street to Urban Greek, an excellent place to get Greek style bowls or pitas. Overall, I'd stay at the Hampton Inn again on my next visit to the area. read more

You are better off going to the Berlin Turnpike where you know you will catch Hepatitis The hotel should pay you to stay away from this place. Moldy rooms that literally have trash piled up behind furniture, personal belongings left behind from previous guests (marijuana vapes) for children to find, discrimination for pool passes so the hotel can upcharge you, unsafe slide where you can cur yourself and be in a dirty pool as well as a incredibly angry GM that will blame you for his disgusting business. read more

Overall, this was not a good experience. First they charge a $300 security deposit that's taken out immediately and not put on your card for days which is insane. then the TV was not working, the breakfast is sub par at best and didn't even have any real fruit. on top of that someone was running down the halls banging on the doors at night. overall wont be recommending or staying here again. read more

Management enforces mask use. I spent the night in a King size room with a sitting area There was a flat, adjustable Panasonic TV between the bedroom and sitting area. Only Direct TV was available with 42 channels. No Smart TV is on the premises. The sitting area featured a coffee bar with a basic coffee maker, mini fridge cabinet and microwave. The closet had six hangers, an ironing board and an iron. The room was clean and updated The shower had a glass door but no tub. A hair dryer and some towels were shelved above the toilet. There was a vanity area with two mirrors and some complimentary toiletries. The thermostat was easy to operate and blew air quietly. The fitness area is big enough for about three people. Management monitors who goes inside for COVID-19 tracking reasons. Breakfast was in a to-go bag that had a can of orange juice, an orange, Yoplait yogurt and a muffin. I threw it out and got some oatmeal at Starbucks, which is a quick drive around the corner. The hotel is in a busy shopping district with many other hotels, so if you do not like this hotel you can easily stay somewhere else. Because I prefer a smart TV with my hotel stays, I am giving Hampton Inn Hilton four stars. I won't be coming back. read more

Booked 3 rooms for two nights to attend a funeral service for my Dad. We had nothing but problems and I would avoid this hotel at all costs. The primary complaint being BED BUGS in two out of the 3 rooms. My daughter and I were chewed up and had red, itchy, swollen oozy bites. And I now have to deal with bed bugs possibly being in my luggage and brought in to my house. The other issues were keys that did not work, TVs that did not work, and the heater in the room that blew nothing but freezing air. Had to change rooms in the middle of the night or risk getting pneumonia. The bathrooms and showers were also filled with black mold. I have attached pictures of all. I also contacted the hotel through their 'customer service' website and they have not even responded. Incredible this place has 4 stars. Hard to believe. read more

Great place to visit! Rooms were clean and roomy. Microwaves and mini frigs in room worked well. Beds and couch were comfortable. Free hot breakfast was a nice addition. Main reason to go to this hotel is the pool with the water slide! Kids loved it but it can get a little crowded. Staff was friendly and nice. The cleanliness and maintenance of this site of Hampton Inn has a lot to be desired. There were gross shaving hairs from the previous occupant and other dirt in the sink in my room. Shower rod was coming out of the wall and eating area was not clean. Although the bed was comfortable and room was well furnished, cleanliness in a hotel is the number one priority. If there is a dirty bathroom, it makes one wonder how clean everything else is. I was contacted by Manager to send pics of dirty sink which I did. Will see what follow up is. At least they are taking this seriously. read more

This Shelton hotel is always gorgeous then found out this location is definitely NOT hiring for specific disability people as I was placed at this location for training trial through an agency, met up with a new job coach that we never met. NO needed for a job coach in near future! It was challenging experience then had a laundromat manager informed me that she was "thinking" of hiring me. Considered that I'm NOT hired then I do believe it has everything to do with my disability. An uber contemporary, modern, very clean and convenient Hampton Inn, set afoot Split Rock, between the business park off Commerce, and the 8 highway. Very near the intersection of exit 12---aka Old Stratford rd/Warner Hill. Loove the amenities ( French milled soap, guest laundry, nice cable set of channels on large 42"? Panasonic), and a very nice suite-like room...which is large, sporting a microwave, fridge, loveseat, ottoman, very awesome desk n comfy work chair, and the bedroom portion. Bath is spacious, and has these cute faux, French-like doors. Breakfast is plentiful...ready-made omelettes, waffle station, English muffins, bagels, oatmeal, etc. Coffee is standard, weak, watery variety, but hey. Fairfield Bigelow teas here! Large coffee and tea bar by the check-in. Gym---awesome. Clean, new, all machines allow one to watch TV while exercising:) another large flat screen too. Pool here actually has a SLIDE SPIRAL FEATURE...can see kids loitering here for hours on end. Fun. This place blows my socks off...6/F hotel offers such beautiful views. Me likey very much. Had an interesting experience when I stayed with my friend and our children this weekend. We live very close by and thought it would be fun to stay there and hang out in the pool with our five children. We booked the larger rooms and since some of the kids are small, we fit perfectly. I called and confirm the hotel, a week in advance, one day before, and then day of just to make sure the pool was open and the slide was working. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told not only by the person at the front desk but the manager, Vanessa, that we could only have five bracelets to go in the pool (there are seven of us). We were also told that we could only use the pool for an hour at a time and you have to sign up every time. I double checked this when we booked the room that this was no longer the case and I was told by the person who answered the phone. This was no longer reinforced that was only during Covid. Vanessa made it seem like they were incredibly strict and this was a firm rule that would not be broken. I can't believe the level that the hotel goes through to not accommodate. The communication at the hotel was poor. We were told that we could have a late check out and when I went at next morning, Vanessa had not put it on the account. The pool ended up being fine. This "one hour at a time sign up" was not reinforced and we were able to enjoy ourselves. The hotel was clean. The breakfast was lovely. The communication needs to be a lot better and more accommodating remembering that we are guest at the hotel. read more

The ebtrance coming into this hotel was very warm and inviting. Tje room wS nice and spacious 2qn beds and a pull out couch. Room and hallways were clean. There is a imdoor pool with a huge slide that takes you outside then back indoors!! Breakfast was what you expect at most hotels! read more

Booked one night here and not familiar with area. Up to a month prior, called the hotel for info on various things, but every time reached some clueless fellow who couldn't answer a thing and kept saying "to call back", rather than transferring the call to someone knowledgeable. Upon arrival, learned that the pricey room didn't come with a bathtub! In addition, that only two rooms in the entire hotel had those and one had to request one ahead of time. For medical reasons, I wasn't going to be able to take a bath for the next few weeks, so this was a big blow. Also, having arrived after the free breakfast, there wasn't any food available. Not a lot of perks available despite having paid for them. When I complained, upon checking out the next morning, it was of course too early for breakfast so still out of luck. Instead, one apologetic clerk handed me a paper sack with a peanut butter sandwich in it... Worst, was that the day before I'd asked several staff to recommend the best, most reliable taxi or limo service for a very early pick-up. This, after also learning that the free hotel shuttle wouldn't be available at the hours I needed. Every desk worker recommended the same company and gave me the number. It was yet another disaster. The taxi service barely spoke English and seemed very unprofessional, but assured me there'd be "no problem", gave me a reservation number, and a driver was reserved. I actually phoned back a few times to check. Come 5:15 a.m., not only no driver, but the service now had a new phone clerk who could only guess that nobody had actually found a driver. So, out of luck! One of the desk staff was then most helpful and conjured up an Uber driver, but by then I was in near cardiac arrest. So, one star for that clerk and another for the apolofellow who stuffed a peanut butter sandwich in a paper bag for me. My overall impression of this hotel was that it was under very, very poor management and various clerks working part-time jobs tried to just carry on. Fromgetic not being able to get even basic info by phone ahead of booking, not being informed that bathtubs were by special request only, that the shuttle wouldn't be available, having very limited hours for a free meal or food of any sort, and enthusiastically recommending the worst taxi service in existence, this was the worst choice for me. Glossy decor and updated finishes don't make up for not delivering what a customer needs. read more

we came here for the slide and pool only to find out that we could only be there for an hour. my kids left crying and screaming so i asked if we could be there for a little bit only to find out that i could only get 1 slot so for the rest of the day the kids just played in the room and watched tv. then check in was at 4 :00 we had to wait till 6:00 and they wouldn't even let us go to the pool when we checked in so we just had to wait in the lobby for 2 hours with my little kids. so don't recommend if you have children. read more

My hotel room had carpet that was lifting. The light shade had splatters of unknown substance. The shower was dirty looking and needs to be updated. Overall I was highly disappointed with the presentation of room for cost. It also had a slight odor. It definitely was not worth what I paid for. Lovely hotel! Clean, comfortable beds and great attention to detail throughout. Breakfast was extensive. Many hot items and cold too. Waffle station had great toppings. Pool area was very neat and tidy. Every chair had a towel on each chair and lots of extra towels. My daughter loved the water slide! I would definitely stay here again when I. The area. The employees were pleasant and helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Definitely a pleasure! The lobby​ was very noisy, but the front desk told me that 10PM was quiet hour and she was true to her word. But even though we were on the second floor, right above the lobby, it was quiet in our room. They have so.e party facilities, not sure how much. We've stayed several nights and the noise in the hallway echoes into your room, kids screaming and yelling, unsupervised having a hay day for hours in the middle of the night. Called multiple times a night- either not enough staff or just zero consequences so the problem continues. Really frustrating experience. :( read more

Every year, my daughters and I come to this area, which has quite a few hotel choices with a good price range. Next year might be the first year we choose a repeat hotel, which is this one - Hampton Inn Shelton. We will likely debate this for months for one reason - the water slide! As soon as I saw the pool had a water slide, I thought this would be a great hotel for my kids. The water slide is impressive and unusual for a hotel of this nature. The pool was warm. The water slide was safe and clean. My 12 year old went down nonstop for an hour with a smile. My shy 9 year old also enjoyed the slide, which really says a lot because she is a timid swimmer and has never been on any other water slide. This one feels safe because the washout at the end is very shallow. There is no jump off or rush of water. On Fridays and Saturdays, the front desk requires a wrist band for pool entry. They have staff at the door to make sure kids not staying at the hotel do not come over and overcrowd the slide and pool. The staff was super nice and the wrist band idea seems to work. There were fewer kids in the pool Friday/Saturday than Thursday. Perhaps coincidence. What I didn't think about when I booked is that the awesome water slide feature attracts a lot of kids. This hotel is naturally going to have more kids than surrounding hotels. It was fine. But it will make us think about what we want more - a chance to have the pool to ourselves, or an exciting slide and a lot of other kids (some of whom are loud and rowdy). That will be the only thing we debate in choosing whether to return to this hotel next year. Everything else worked great for us. Our room was larger than expected. The bathroom was very nice. The poofy, white comforters on the beds were very nice. The staff was very nice. The internet worked well for us. We opted out of the breakfast but others looked very happy in the breakfast area. The big TV was nice. The mini-fridge and easy access to ice makers was also an enjoyable feature for us. It is also nice that you can walk next door to Chipotle if there is a night when you do not have energy to drive out for dinner. That was a fun take-out night for us. The food was still hot when we brought it back to the room. Also I would like to add that our room window faced the back of the hotel, which had a nice view. At first, I worried the view of the water slide was not my idea of beauty. But actually it was fun to be able to check the status of the pool/slide at any time. We checked the window and when we saw the pool go empty - we'd jump on our chance to be the only ones there for a short while. You can also see a giant, rock cliff in the back of the hotel, with office buildings perched on the top of that hill. It was a pleasant view and we enjoyed that room. At no time did we hear the pool from our room, by the way. The hotel design does a very good job of putting the pool and slide completely separate from the part of the building that has rooms with people trying to sleep. The pool is open 6 am - 10 pm, and was busy much of the time. Our room was happily quiet with only the slightest sounds from the hall or the room above. Overall I think this hotel is about as good as it gets without seeing the price tag double or triple! Perhaps we'll be back again next year. read more

I loved staying at this hotel! The staff was very friendly upon check-in and throughout our stay. The room, Jr. King suite, was spotless and everything appeared brand new. I felt safe and secure the entire time and the best part, it is a pet friendly hotel. I found this out through the website BringFido.com. They charge no extra pet fees and allow even large dogs. Their pet areas are very clean and they provide bags and disposal cans. My dog felt right at home! I stayed in room 303 in early September 2022. I woke up with 18 bed bug bites. There was also 3 inches of bed frame sticking out of one of the beds that I hit my leg on and bruised. Would LOVE to give this hotel all the stars they deserve however the check out process changed this review. The rooms were clean and nice and big and as pictured. The bathrooms were also cute and a nice design. The pool area and workout room were very nice and also as pictured. Upon checkout we attempted to leave around 5am and stood at the front desk for over 20 mins trying to locate the front desk attendant. Apparently the phones only ring to the front desk Thus we called reservations who also attempted to call the front desk. As I sat on hold on my cell phone, the front desk phone rang and rang and rang...and rang. Finally a woman appears and asks if I'm the one calling the desk (i guess since she sees me on my cell phone) rather than saying good morning or I'm sorry for the wait! When my mom explained to her how we felt she made several excuses and said she was in the laundry room all before she could bring herself to apologize for the lack of concern and abandonment of the front desk duties. As a Hilton Honors customer id expect more as this is an extremely reputable company to which I frequent. read more

I didn't stay the night I came for a birthday party for my 6 yr olds friend. The hotel is really nice. A fireplace adorns the lobby area entrance . The pool area is where we spent most of our time . They have a heated indoor pool (beware of the strong bleachy/chlorine smell) .Only come in there with flip flop/sandals or bare foot because the walkway around the pool have about a inch water sometimes nowhere for water to go. Next to the pool they have a huge long slide that lands you in a small pool of water. My kid loved it so much he went on that slide 20 times before he needed a break ,lol . The pool is 3 feet-5 feet deep and heated . Nice to have a early morning escape if you stay there overnight (opens at 7am). Staff is available as life guarding duties . They seemingly get distracted easily ,so better keep your eye on your child in the pool/slide for there is alot of people that come here. I did see their rooms while changing it was nice. This one had a couch with small living room . I would definitely stay here !!!! read more

What an awesome weekend at the Hampton Inn in Shelton Connecticut: 7/8/2017. I am surprised there has not been any reviews here regarding the place in over a year. I might come back to this hotel in the future. Here is why: Pros: 1. The hotel is absolutely beautiful with a fancy and spacious lobby. You can chat with your friends or just hang out. It does get busy during the night when guests bring their own coolers and drinks in the lobby. 2. Rooms were spacious and amazing!! The 2 queen beds were perfect and comfortable. Most hotels we have been to had uncomfortable beds with tossing and turning. By the way we checked in our room, no bed bugs thank god!! This hotel was supper comfortable. TV was good. The bathroom was supper nice and clean and there is a kitchenette with a microwave and a small fridge. 3. There is free coffee offered to the guests which is so refreshing to get a nice cup of joe in the morning. I love that feeling :) 4. The pool was amazing!! I wish there was a hot tub but it was fine. The slide was great even for adults, at least I didn't break the slide lol :) but when we got out of the pool, the hallways were cold like we were in Alaska. Not cool. Get it? lol 5. The fitness center is awesome and its sort of a small Planet Fitness in the hotel. Machines look new and all have individual tv sets so you can watch tv while working out. They also give out cheap earbuds for free which is pretty cool. The treadmills are nice and the weights are cool too. 6. Parking is free and on the hotel property which is always a nice amenity. There is also lots of stores and little centers to visit. A very nice Walmart, a Sears, a shop rite and stop & shop, Walgreens, a pet supplies store, and lots of other stores Cons: 1. Breakfast was a mixed plate. Breakfast is free and I know your not going to expect a million dollar breakfast that's going to blow you away but I have stayed at other Hampton inn and suites before and I got to say I was disappointed with the breakfast side. The waffles was the best part which you get to make your own. They were delicious but the eggs and the potatoes were absolutely disgusting with spices and crap all over. The bagel was hard and a banana went bad. 2. The back doors and the pool door and the fitness center door is unlocked even though the sign says it's locked after hours and to get in you need a key. I opened the door without a key at 11:00 pm last night. That is unsafe and that could bring people that are outsiders and even gangs! 3. One thing that tipped me over the ice was when one of the employees working at the breakfast touched garbage with her bare hands and then touched the muffins they had there and no gloves and not even washing her hands. That's nasty!! Overall a beautiful hotel. I may or may not come back and choose a different hotel but got to say a nice hotel for the price. read more

My family and I come stay here every time we're in Connecticut. We love it here. We have a dog and bring him each time as well. The rooms are clean, spacious, and the bed is so comfy. Linens smell clean and are so soft. The bathrooms are beautiful and spacious too and have complimentary soap, shampoo, mouthwash etc. The rooms also have a microwave and mini refrigerator. Breakfast is included which is so delicious! They also have coffee, tea and hot chocolate available 24 hours which is great. Parking is free and this place has a nice pool with slide. This hotel is great and has everything you need! A great place to stay and the staff is great too. The WiFi is slow but I believe you can purchase a WiFi plan if you wish. read more

Front Desk- Patrick was so welcoming and kind- he gave me the most comfortable and spacious room. One can't hear a peep from any kids, pets, rowdies, not..a...sound. Room 325 is a SANCTUARY! On the road touring, my friend and I checked in to a double suite for 114 a night. An Amazing rate for what you get. A pool with a waterslide, a office area in the room, microwave, fridge, I felt like I was in a 4 star hotel! Spacious doesn't even begin to describe how big the room is.
