The check in process was easy and fast. The front desk clerk was nice, thanked us for being reward members and gave us a couple of waters. The hallways smelled like the 1950's, heavy cigarette smoke. Luckily it wasn't bad inside the room itself. The room was nice with a full-size fridge and mini kitchen. The room was clean and comfortable. The location is right off the interstate and right next door to a Starbucks and a few restaurants. The only issue I had, and it is NOT their fault, was the number of birds in the parking lot. It was like the Hitchcock movie with literally thousands of chirping/skreetching birds everywhere. I even woke up to a polka dot card from all the bird poop.

With over 100 acres of land and extensive river frontage, Wahwahtaysee Resort nestled in the heart of Texas Hill Country offers something for everyone. We stayed in two of the large "tents" and one of the smaller cabins. It has a wonderful rustic flair to make you really feel like you've gotten out of the big city, but still comfortable enough with the temperature controlled setting and the wonderful mattresses to make sure you're well rested. They have a variety of things in a large plot of land, including a river you can swim in, various trails to take your golf carts around so you can see a variety of wildlife, including deer and armadillos, a very nice pool and hot tub with a full bar right next to it, and other small things, including a cornhole set and a Pickleball court. What I think blew me away, though was the incredible hospitality of those who worked there, they were genuine interested in making sure that we were as comfortable and happy as possible, and the very delicious breakfast that they made for the house, the pond request. Whether you're with the family, having a romantic getaway, or just simply wanting to enjoy the beauty of the Hill country, I cannot recommend this location enough.

It would have been good if the hair dryer was already in the room, but there just wasn't much space for storage of things like that. There was a bar to hang clothes on, and some shelves to store clothes and such. We didn't love that the sink was outside the bathroom, but some may find that convenient. The river view was great to have, but unfortunately came with noise from the highway crossing the adjacent bridge. Likewise, I appreciated the tables and such outside, except for the highway noise. That said, on weekend mornings there was little traffic and it was pretty pleasant outside. The room had pretty good acoustic insulation, so we didn't really hear much outside, except some chatty neighbors when they were outside. The air conditioner was definitely audible, but I didn't find it too intrusive. Access to the location was easy, and plenty of parking. Overall a pretty positive experience.

The hosts clearly put a lot of effort into restoring the upstairs living area, as it is clean and inviting without losing any of the appeal of the history of the 200 year old hotel. The floors, ceiling, and doors are beautiful and appear to be restored, original elements from long ago. As far as modern stuff, the AC cranks, the mini kitchen is efficient and nicely stocked, and the bathroom is modern, clean, and has a cool shower. Lastly, I am generally a skeptic when it comes to anything paranormal, but try to keep an open mind. Over the course of the night, my wife and I encountered several odd little incidents that led me to believe that the place may very well be haunted. My wife heard children playing at 3 am, saw an orbish shadow drift across the bedroom transom, and heard a grocery bag rustle loudly during the night. I saw shadowy movements at the edges of my eyesight several times, and heard some weird, unidentifiable noises. Never felt anything negative, though, so these must be some of the nice entities that are said to dwell with the hotel. If you love a little spooky, a whole lot of history, and a pleasant and comfortable stay, the Magnolia Hotel is for you.

Stayed there 3 nights, it is small rooms, the fridge leaked the first night and not the other…read morenights, weird. The maintenance guy came to fix it, did nothing. He said to keep a towel in front of it and that some refrigerators in some rooms do that and they don't know why. But it didn't do it any other day. The floor in front of it was really sticky, I went to the front desk and I asked for a mop to clean it. The gal there said they can only give me a towel to try to wipe it as they don't use mops there, only swiffers. That was odd too. The morning gal that does the breakfast stuff needs to spend more time in the breakfast area keeping things filled rather than spending the majority of the time at the front desk talking with the front desk lady about their jobs and co-workers. The room had a fridge, a microwave and a coffee pot. The ENTIRE hotel is non-smoking according to a sign up in the lobby. Overall, a good night's sleep, and it wouldn't bother me to stay there again. But three stars is generous. 2.5 stars would be more accurate.

Disappointing and unacceptable condition…read more I recently stayed at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Seguin, Texas, from June 30 through July 3, 2026. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. As a professional housekeeper, I stripped the bed before checking out and discovered numerous large brown stains along the sides of the mattress. I took photographs because I was shocked by the condition. While I cannot say what caused the stains, the mattress appeared unsanitary and, in my opinion, should not have been in use for guests. I reported the condition to the front desk when I checked out and showed the representative the photographs. I was told that the property would be remodeled in the near future, but I was not offered any compensation or other resolution. Because I could not find an email address for the property, I submitted a formal complaint to Choice Hotels Guest Relations and requested a refund. Unfortunately, I have never received a response. I understand that older properties may need renovations, but that does not excuse putting a visibly stained mattress in a guest room. As someone who works professionally in housekeeping, I know the importance of maintaining a clean and sanitary environment for guests. I am posting this review because my attempts to have the matter addressed privately have gone unanswered. I have photographs documenting what I found and would be happy to provide them. I would not stay at this property again unless significant improvements are made to the cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms.

There were a few different types of rooms to choose from and we chose the Penthaus 15 because it was on the River. This room is not for tall people (we are not). Choose another room if you're tall! We loved that it's all original buildings from 1800s in the area. Had good plumbing and amazing AC (thank God!) and quite a bit of charm. Please note this is not a bed n breakfast anymore. But The Pantry is a part of the main office and they serve breakfast for reasonable prices. My lox and bagel was amazing and my husband's taco was delicious. Breakfast was a local affair. So many people and everyone was small town friendly. We sat on the porch but there were tables inside and on the back patio. The Texas Pecan Coffee was so good I bought some to bring home. Location of the mansion was perfect! We never even got in our car all weekend!! Shops, live music, bars, parks, river tubing was all within a few blocks. So close that if we needed to cool down (June in TX with no ac in some shops and restaurants) we would just swing back to the room for about 15 mins, cool down, and then keep going. So much live music to enjoy. I see some reviews that complain about music at night but we were not bothered by any of it. We had to strain to hear anything outside our room. The Inn provides earplugs but we didn't use them. We've already promised each other to come back again in the fall when it's a little cooler. And of course we will stay at the Gruene Mansion Inn.

With how high the rates are it should definitely be a B&B still, but i guess high prices are just something that people get away with now! Regardless the room we stayed in was beautiful and clean and had updated renovations. The outside looks rustic but the inside is very comfortable and relaxing. Besides the music that is playing next door, sleep was great. The beds are comfy. We enjoyed rocking in the chairs on the patio watching the people. Plenty of parking during the week for guests. Staff was great and helpful.

NEVER again, the night clerk was ok - but the bald clerk in the day was awful and began yelling at me (a paying customer!) Cut my stay short and went elsewhere. Don't even bother with this place.
