Went there on a Friday evening because there was no room at any hotels in town, so we decided to camp at this one. They have canoes and paddle boats you can borrow to go in the lake. Also a small beach with beach toys for kids. I would definitely go back there and spend more time relaxing or go fishing. Thank you for your hospitality.

They had little people who ran amok unsupervised in nothing but diapers/swimsuits and life jackets and the screamed the blood-curdling scream of death every 30 secs. This wasn't typical little kids playing. It was high-pitched screeching and none of the parents did anything to curb this behavior. On top of that, these small children were left unsupervised while using the docks, swimming platforms and kayaks. When it was mentioned to the manager, he was okay with it because they were friends of the parents. This sort of behavior is simply not cool no matter who you're friends with. Here are some good things to share: the cabins were small but clean and it was stocked with everything you might need, the lake view was amazing, the swimming hole and beach looked like fun and there was a nice view of the lake from the deck, the selection of non-motorized water crafts were pretty great ... a nice value for my money. Under different circumstances, the family and manager appear to be colorful people! Also, the addition of Blue, the resident eaglet, was a welcome curiosity that added a surprising twist to our weekend. I hope him well in his eagle upbringing. I hate to leave this review. But my husband, children and I were at the resort looking for some peace and quiet. We had come from a funeral and we all need some time to get away from the stress of everyday life. We all left in worse shape then when we arrived. Honestly, we should've stayed at the casino down the road for half the price. Blue Moon, I really wanted to give you a better review. But unfortunately, I just can't. Good Luck with all of your future endeavors.

This is not a 4 star property, rather, the rating is based on expectations for this level…read moreaccommodation. Weird smell throughout. Hubs said it smells like cheap building materials. I'd say it was just odd, tho not so bad that we weren't nose blind to it shortly after arriving & didn't notice it while in the room. King room with plenty of space, outlets, lighting, temperature control & in-room amenities. The pad on the bed wasn't pulled tight or it wasn't sized correctly. I didn't sleep well because I could feel the lumps and ripples (princess & the pea moment). If I'd noticed BEFORE getting in bed, I'd have fixed it. I was flat-out beat tho & took the lazy way out. We, again, hit up breakfast. They had the standard spread of waffle maker, eggs (scrambled, omelet-like & boiled), sausage, potatoes & we greatly appreciated the seasonings & sauces available to give that same ole same ole a bit of pop. Parking was easy & we didn't use anything here besides the room & breakfast. We arrived late & left early the next morning, to officially start our tour. Note: We were 3rd of 4 in line to check in. The gal whipped out waters for #1, thanked him for being a Diamond member, told him what his points/bonus points were, explained ALL the hotel info - pool, gym, breakfast, check-out. # 2 gets up to the desk & the gal asks if they've stayed before, she replies not here but a lot of best westerns, giggle & gives hotel some info / #2 asks if there's Diamond Elite parking spaces (casual for hey, no mention of my loyalty, perhaps?) - response was "no, we're not that fancy" - no water given. We get up & the gal says, "did you catch all that or do you want it repeated?" We say we're good & she says most important thing is breakfast is at 6a - no waters for us. #4, took her back to interaction style of #1. It could be inconsistent or efficient, depending on how you look at it. (Had we asked for water, they no doubt would have given it. We had our own & it was perfectly visible at check-in.) Hubs is Diamond Elite. We booked direct with Best Western & didn't use points.

A beautiful, rustic setting, excellent service, and the food was better than I expected. We ordered three sandwiches: Rueben, Italian Beef, Walleye, and also Homemade Lasagna. All delicious, all correctly made, and each was Huge! I had the Rueben but I'd order any of these next time I'm in the area. I can't forget to mention our waitservice - Nevaeh was fully attentive but not overpresent. Outstanding - she's young, but already a professional. It's pretty remote, but if you're anywhere around there this is the place to get grub! Check it out!

First the resort is nice along with the cabins here plus being right by the lake…read more However, beware of the owner Kim...Me, and 3 guests rented a cabin at this resort last month and Kim did make the visit not so pleasant. If you want your privacy invaded by the owner with family friends visiting along with extra fees that should not be charged along and last awful customer service skills, then this is the place for you. I myself was only there for just under a week. The owner is charging us way more than we were quoted. We were quoted just under $3000 for the entire rental and then after we left added all these fees to the final bill which we were not told about at all, more about that later in this review. Other than the final charges being way over and not told about prior, Kim did some things which we feel crossed the line along with showing she does not care about customer service when there is a dispute on the bill. During time at cabin, one of friends family came up for part of the day, while outside having a great time talking a nice conversation, the owner Kim unexpectedly stands behind them listening to the conversation Friend and her family members are having then RUDELY interrupts and starts talking about herself. Not only time too, I was outside with good friend, his good friend from Hibbing, saw Kim driving around, yet felt she was listening to our conversation. Not a pleasant feeling at all, makes you feel uncomfortable. Last year, friend (2021) was staying there and Kim asked her to take photos of any license plates for ANY visitor, even if friends or family visiting the resort then send over text. Reason being too is Kim or her assistance to run background checks on them. What an invasion of privacy! Friend was so embarrassed too. Background checks to that nature should only be done for certain purposes NOT visiting a resort, never ever seen that in the 40 years Ive been living. According to the Better Business Bureau, the resort has been in business for 27 years, BUT the sad thing is Kim shows poor customer service skills. On final bill we are being charges extra guest fees when only 4 were staying at cabin at any given time, but Kim claims in her rebuttal due a family reunion friend was having the "Septic and Well systems would be severely taxed." The problem with the owner's claim is it's a TOTAL LIE, friend had family over, BUT THEY Never stayed in the cabin or even go inside to use the restroom. Owner Kim did say 4 people can stay in a cabin with no extra guest charges, as I noted, NOT ONCE during the 2 weeks when we were renting had any more than 4 people in cabin. In addition, we were charged 15 bucks for 2 bags of ice and get this...$90 BUCKS for using 2 pieces of firewood. When we asked about the charges on final invoice, Kim refused to talk about, and sent nasty text messages to f. Since I agreed with my friends to pay the final charges, I sent 2 emails to Kim asking for a reduction plus extra time to pay and asking the cost of rental stay as quoted, never got a response back to me, BUT Kim sends only to my friend nasty attitude text messages with outrageous excuses for the extra charges. Here is the thing I have figured out , she will be like that with women but not with guys. It's like she is scared to speak to me which is appalling for a business owner and a shameful thing to do when it comes to customer service. My advice...AVOID renting a cabin here at all COSTS. I've given the owner Kim one last chance to reply TO me. If she does NOT, I will be filling a complaint with Better Business Bureau and with the Minnesota Attorney Generals Office. Last the MN Dept Of Commerce might be also contacted. Likely the owner Kim will reply to this review, but her side of story will be all not true. One last thing, on day of checking out at the cabin, her mom really helped to clean the cabin out. Kim does a walkthrough then demands friends 74 year old mother water the plants outside when it should be either Kim or her employees job to do, but wait Kim has no workers because they all quit I heard due to how she treated her employees.

They also have free bike rentals, a great sand volleyball court, horseshoes, basketball, tennis and pickle ball. And if the lake is warm enough, there is a waterslide in the lake which looked fun. We were here Memorial Day weekend, and the weather was beautiful our first day, so we took out the paddleboards, and that was fun. The weather got chilly quickly, so I didn't have the opportunity to try the rest of the amenities. The pool is currently closed for construction. (There is a nice pool at the YMCA in Grand Rapids which we used one day for a $10 day pass). We stayed in a two bedroom lakefront cabin which was nice, but fairly rustic, and one of the bedrooms had absolutely no storage, (no closet, shelves or dresser). Next time, I think we would stay in the lodge rooms, which are a bit more upscale, with fireplaces, full kitchens, Jacuzzi tub and nicer furnishings. They have a restaurant/bar on site with a an outdoor patio and nice view of the lake, which is convenient. They also have free coffee and muffins in the morning at the front desk and at Otis's.The staff and management were incredibly helpful, friendly and accommodating. I definitely recommend, and look forward to coming here again, hopefully when the weather is a little warmer!
