Our regular hotel that we stay in on our way to Door County was super expensive for some reason. Looking around, this hotel was very reasonable and had good reviews. Check in/out was very easy, no waiting and everyone seems very friendly. The hotel is very clean, the rooms were nice and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was a bit above average, they have a nice game room and a huge pool. It's a great location literally right off the expressway. We will absolutely stay again when we are in the area. read more

One of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. Room not ready and we were on a tight schedule. Delayed check in (after 3pm when the room was supposedly ready). Made us late to the wedding we'd traveled across the country for. The front desk attendant was flippant, unhelpful, and proceeded to tell us she needed vodka to deal with this job. Room was okay. i stayed here to attend my sons wedding. I was forced to make 2 different reservations for 4 nights stay. one had a reduced wedding rate. I went over it at check in and they said all was well. I was once locked out of my room. on the day of the wedding I received a message that they were putting my belongings out of the room. I had a confirmation for all 4 days. I contacted corporate and they told me they could not do anything. the people at the desk were nice but totally incompetent . Bill is wrong and I will let Discover fight it out. Please be advised this hotel DOES NOT offer king rooms with a pull out sofa despite the pictures on their website. This was an issue with our recent stay as my husband and I, and our 2 boys had booked this room for a lacrosse tournament with our son's team. At the time of booking, no double rooms were available. Luckily, the manager was able to give us a double room. The staff was very kind and helpful despite a very stressful check in. Our team was told we could check in at 1, so we all arrived around that time, yet the rooms were not ready yet. They did their best for us all, but many families were counting on the kids using the pull out sofa. Corporate needs to change this on the website and booking. It's completely unfair to the staff to have to deal with unhappy guests due to the misleading descriptions on the website and booking info! Other than that, the hotel was clean, updated, and worked out well for our stay. I'm giving 3 stars in hopes that corporate may see this and do something about the website descriptions. 5 star service though from the hotel staff read more

I'd give it 0 stars if I could. Hotel moved over numerous guests to the Holiday Inn Express. Tried to walk me over there too only to find out that they had no room. Waited over an hour for them to sort things out and miraculously have space in their hotel for me. Heard the receptionist speaking with the manager and because I am only a silver rank at the time they wanted to pass me off to another hotel. Made sure to go to the front desk to check out on my last day and they tried to charge me a secondary time for my stay. They claimed it was because I did not check out when I called to have it reversed. Made for a mess of a headache with my report for work. I would not stay again and would rather will likely use a Marriott for this city. Definitely not my first choice of hotel. Awful experience. read more

Second review, one month later. The rooms have been redone. Clean and bright although art work is hideous. Bathroom, shower and everything else is just fine. However.... There is still NO LIGHTING in the parking lot and on the building. No one parked in the preferred parking spaces right in front. All the cars were parked off to the side where there were bright lights from the neighboring business. Considering we had a suspicious person standing over our vehicle last time, this is absolutely unsafe and not acceptable. The manager was offended when we asked AGAIN. The room was acceptable. The temperature was too cool for December but you couldn't adjust the setting. I was charged extra fees that I could not get an adequate explanation or reason I was charged. Hampton Inn passed the buck to Priceline and Priceline passed the buck to Reservation Desk.com. This is one of my favorite hotels in the area. Located off Alpine road in Walker, it is located on the Northern side of Grand Rapids at the crossing of I94 and 131. This makes it an easy on/off of both major highways. Since I travel a lot, it makes it easy as it is approximately 1 hour exactly from Muskegon, Kalamazoo, and East Lansing! The staff is here is excellent and very friendly. These people go out of their way to ensure your stay is a great one. The rooms are large, spacious, and have a unique decor to them. I have stayed in this one over 50 different nights, and will continue to do so again and again. The rates are great, and I feel exceptional for the service, rooms, and breakfast that is included. read more

As a Hilton guy, a Hampton Inn is a Hampton Inn. You get what you pay for and they're all pretty much the same. They don't let you down but at the same time they are nothing to get excited about. Clean room, clean bed and that's about all you need. This location is set back behind strip malls and a busy strip of road that is loaded with restaurants and stores and other strip malls. It's not hard to find but you can't see it from the road. It's setback in a quiet area away from all the noise and traffic of the busy road. There is a highway not too far away, but you can't hear it. Here's the thing. The reason I am a Hilton guy is for hotels like the Hampton Inn. With the Hilton family of hotels, you can always find one of their hotels just about anywhere in the country not too far from wherever you plan on going or wherever you need to be. Being that I typically like to stay as close to my first morning meeting, I can always find a Hilton hotel near where I need to be. Would I go back? Yes. I've been back to this location a few times and I've always been pleased with it. Nice small fitness facility and pool as well. read more

I've been traveling with my job for over 20 years. I've stayed at this location during this time and have watched it go downhill. I stayed there last night for the last time! I'm done! Their breakfast has gone from so-so to terrible. No to-go breakfast bags like at other locations. Limited selections and shortened the breakfast hours last year. When I've questioned the changes I have been lied to. This time I was charged an extra $50 (pet fee). I didn't bring a pet! I called to have it refunded. I ended up speaking to the manager, Jennifer Poole who agreed to the refund. I asked for my receipt to be refunded and a new receipt be issued. She wouldn't do it. Sent me an another receipt that will be unacceptable to attach to my business expense report. She was rude and then hung up on me. Hung. Up. On. Me. I was stunned and called back. When I asked why she hung up on me she said I hung up on her. What!? I stay at several different Hampton Inns, but after 20 years won't be staying at this one again. As I write this review, I'm in the middle of my 30th stay and my 60th night at a Hilton HHonors hotel in 2013 - most of which were at Hampton Inns around the country. I say that simply to put my review in context. This could be the oldest, most tired Hampton Inn I've ever stayed at. I wish I'd done more research before booking here, but it was the most convenient location for the business I had in Grand Rapids. Unfortunately, I paid the price for it. This place is DESPERATELY in need of an update. The carpet is REALLY old and shows it badly. The furniture is outdated. The bathrooms are TINY. I love Hamptons - I stay at them for business and my family loves them on road trips - but this is NOT one to stay at if you're in the area. read more

Perfect place for a stop over, but pretty far from downtown Grand Rapids. Fair deal when you compacte price to quality. Rooms are clean, spacious and enough outlets. Good shower. And most important for us, although the window was small, it could open! =) Breakfast was more than we expected. Yes, the egg was horrible, but it always is nowadays in hotels. Nothing to do with fresh eggs. But besides that enough fresh choices. Oatmeal, waffles, yoghurt, fresh (!) fruit and various kinds of sweets and bread. read more

This Hampton is an older refurbished property, so while some of the cosmetic upgrades freshen it, there are still many signs of sluggishment. They didn't replace the interior doors so they look like they belong in an old Holiday Inn. My biggest gripe, though, is the bathroom, and especially the shower/tub. I stayed in a room on the 3rd floor near the elevator (so not at the end of the piping run) and literally had to wait 15-20 min each of the two times I showered to get adequate hot water. The problem with that is that because the tub drain is horrendously slow, then I, again literally, had to wait 15-20 min for the cold water to drain before taking my shower. This is not acceptable for a Hilton brand property. Other than that, the service was fine. read more

All remarks are for a hotel in the range, I'm not comparing it to the Ritz. Today is day 3 of a 5 day stay. The hotel is CLEAN though the decorating choices could be better (red walls in the bedroom). The hotel smells clean, not covered in chemicals. The staff has been friendly and helpful, offering an umbrella for the rain and providing information on local attractions. The beds are comfortable though the pillows are over-stuffed (like all hotels). The bathroom is larger than expected, but has no dedicated vent fan (there seems to be a low hum 24/7). Towel supply is adequate. Noise level has been low, though I believe the hotel was booked solid last night. I have not used the pool or exercise facility. read more

This is our 5th stay here and will be our last-even though we are loyal to Hilton properties. This property has either changed owner or managements the service has gone terribly down hill. Rooms aren't cleaned due to the new "reduction in Green energy," but making beds and picking up a used towel and dumping trash aren't wasting water or require cleaning products. We've had items stolen from our room when only housekeeping were accessing our room. We were reimbursed for trouble, so that was an attempt to make the situation better. But the hotel is dirty, eating area carpet is stained, sticky, and in need of a thorough cleaning along with the halls and elevators. We travel to this area for tournaments but will either choose another chain or a property downtown and make the drive. Sad as we called before this last visit and asked about our concerns which were all allayed as "taken care of." They are not improving their hotel and we don't return to it or the sister property next door until updates and cleaning/management are serious about services necessary. read more

We stayed here one night (7/3-4/15). It was busy, but it wasn't loud by any means. I got a really good rate - the cheapest I've paid in a long time for a Hilton hotel - from booking through Hilton's website. The room were nice and clean. The bed was comfortable too! The bathroom was nice and large which I really liked. I used the fitness center and it was a good fitness center for a hotel like the Hampton. Overall, I'd stay here again especially if the rate was that cheap again! read more

The room wasn't that great but didn't care too much, looked like some dried vomit was on the floor, I was too tired to care. We were tired and went to bed. Woke up, left early. Days later...Got a 250$ charge added for cleaning the room!!!! Suggesting we trashed the room.Wtf? We slept in the bed! Nothing else went on in the room. Tried to call to resolve and the person was rude and said call back tommarow. We are normal people. And old!! We paid ALOT for this room and this was so offensive to me. Much better than expected from the dated outside appearance. We were greeted warmly, were able to reserve a specific room online ahead of time (third floor, odd number - quiet and faces the woods/retention pond rather than the mall area.) The breakfast was well stocked and kept clean and orderly. I wish they'd have some plain yogurt rather than just the overly-sweetened kind though. The room was clean and the desk arrangement in the built-in wall unit worked well. There was an odd mini-fridge all alone by the desk (not built in) but that's better than none. The fitness center is too tight for stretching but was useful nonetheless. Fortunately we stayed using points because otherwise it seems a bit overpriced. read more

Stayed two nights using Hilton Honors points. Like most Hamptons, it is an adequate hotel, geared to the business traveler. We were upgraded to a nice suite, which was superb except for the bathroom, which, though clean, was small, dark, and dated. It was really out of sync with the rest of the recently updated suite. The fitness center had a full set of dumbbells, which is practically unheard of, so it was great to get in a full workout without the hassle of finding a local gym and paying for a day pass. read more

Hampton Inn-North exceeded our expectations for the price charged. A wedding brought us to Grand Rapids and we booked a two-room suite months in advance. Management arranged an early check-in when the wedding time was moved up. Upon checking in the staff handed us printed driving instructions to the wedding location. The suite was excellent with wi-fi, two TV's and king-sized bed. Complimentary breakfast was more than we anticipated and delicious. Downtown was seven minutes away. read more

I stay in Grand Rapids often and am a Hilton Honors member. This was my first stay at this particular location and I have to say that the staff here made this visit particularly enjoyable. The accommodations were more than adequate but a little less luxurious than I have come to expect (which is actually a good thing for the brand in a broader scope). That being said, Allen went above and beyond to make sure we were happy, the breakfast area was immaculate and well stocked (and we went down at different times both days) and the rest of the front desk was upbeat and happy and helpful. Their demeanor was such that I will very likely choose this location over others in the area just to experience that again! read more

The location of this hotel is good, it is close to the highway with lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. However, the room was tiny and the bed was like trying to sleep on concrete. We appreciate the fact that they are not entering the room to clean during this pandemic, however there was no need to be snippy when we asked for clean towels at the desk. The sack breakfast consisted of a tiny apple, a smashed nutrigrain bar and a bottle of water. Seems like the price of the room should be adjusted for the lack of breakfast and housekeeping. There were many young teenage softball players staying on our floor, obviously unattended. They all used the room next to us as party central, yelling, screaming, throwing balls against the wall, calling our room until we unplugged the phone. The noise, which went on until about 1:00 am, could be heard in the lobby, but the girl at the desk refused to do anything to make them quiet down. After two nights of this we checked out a day early. There are plenty of other hotels in the area. We chose Hampton because in the past they have been nice. Next time we will stay someplace else. read more

First of all, I have never been to a hotel with worse service. Everyone was extremely rude. The breakfast in the morning was nasty... nothing was still warm or tasted good. The eggs especially didn't seem cooked all the way. There was hardly any choices. The ceiling above the pool looked like it was dirty and getting moldy. There was a half of a used bar of soap still in our shower... Super outdated hotel. Not to mention not an overall good area. Will not be staying here again. read more

Another great Hampton Inn experience. This location is a little bit off a major retail strip on the north side of Grand Rapids. The breakfast area has a nice view out its large windows. There are several restaurants in close proximity and quick access to the highway. read more
