I am upset about not being able to give this hotel a five star review! The reason being the linens and the room was so covered in strong scents of cleaners I got a headache. The window doesn't open and the a/c didn't filter the air. The room was very clean and roomy. The check in process was easy and the desk clerk was very nice. There was plenty of parking. The continental breakfast was very nice. But I can't stay there because of the cleaning products.

The Holiday Inn and I have a long, complicated history. In Manchester, NH, it was the only hotel my…read morefamily and I would stay at until I acquired a "booji-esque" Marriott rewards account. The very first review I ever wrote for Yelp was a 1-star review for one of the worst Holiday Inns I ever stayed at; located somewhere in east Texas in a forgettable podunk town. Which brings me to good 'ol Cumming, GA. So...where does this one rank in the scheme of things? Well, I'll tell ya. If first impressions were the final word on where I would rank this place, it would have been 5 star worthy. Because right away, I was cordially greeted by a very professional, mild-mannered front desk clerk named Danielle. Check in couldn't have been easier if it were done online. Right away, she entered in my credentials and had my room key dispatched in mere seconds. Gotta love it when the help is swift and johnny-on-the-spot like an Englishman pouring you a spot of tea with your crumpets. But, I digress. The room was absolutely immaculate! Not only was everything clean and functional. The room was also a bit larger than I expected. Now, I've stayed at a LOT of hotels. Some leave much to be desired with the limited room that's left and sometimes it can feel like the bed is hogging all the space. This room....ho'nelly!! It has a couch in it with enough living room space left over to do P90X. Only minor complaint I have about the rooms is how cryptic certain things can be to find. For example.. You wouldn't guess it right away, but the black-out curtains are surreptitiously located behind the decorative curtains which...one would expect to be the thing that blacks out the room. They even leave a note in the room explaining as much. That should tell you how common it is for people to miss this. My first night there, I honestly thought there were no black-out curtains. Btw, shout out to that wicked cool, modern and ultra-hip desk lamp on the computer desk with the touch button and 3 settings of brightness. Clearly, a lot of effort was put into the renovation of this hotel. Because this is the most contemporary Holiday Inn I've stayed at in a long time. Bravo, Cumming! The complimentary breakfast...oh, mamma mia! Can we talk about that breakfast for a minute? Now, in my humble opinion, this is the part of the hotel that needs a lot of work. Not because the food is bad or anything like that. But because basic protocols keep getting jacked up beyond belief. Which has me thinking the girl running both the scrambled egg and omelet station needs to be sent back to the complimentary breakfast academy. First of all, the scrambled eggs run out frequently (which is expected). But if you're hotel staff and you know this, there should be a contingency plan to always have a fresh batch of eggs at the ready in anticipation of this. It's not hard, people. Lots of other hotels manage to have the eggs refilled within 5 or 10 minutes. This hotel had guests waiting for up to a half hour for a new batch of eggs to arrive. And with only 10 minutes left before closing, no less. It's just a shame to think all that food gets tossed in the garbage after closing time. Possibly the most egregious travesty of all is the cheese omelet debacle. Now, I took a picture of this because you have to see it to believe it. But...let me put it this way: these things looked like sacrifices to the Gods. Even Stevie Wonder could see these omelets were burnt to shit. Which is weird, considering the egg white veggie omelets don't come out like this, for SOME reason. It looks like someone took a smoke break while the cheese omelets were cooking in the oven and forgot to hit the "off" button. Whatever the case, this needs to be fixed ASAP! Scorched breakfast proteins aside, everything else about this place is just fine. My recommendation when having the complimentary breakfast would be to stick with the egg white omelets, bacon and pretty much anything that isn't the cheese omelet or breakfast blend coffee that tastes more like tea. If you want scrambled eggs, I suggest showing up early. Otherwise, you could just drive down the street to Waffle House if you like sleeping in. Ultimately, the front desk hostess and the room itself were the highlights of my stay here. And they were super fast when giving me complimentary water for my headaches. All things considered, I'm giving Holiday Inn of Cumming, GA 4 uber professional hostesses greeting each guest with a smile that could light up a room on a cloudy day out of 5.

Great stay. In the heart of "big box store" territory so plenty of chain places to eat at nearby…read more(Chili's and Korean BBQ about 500 foot walk). The facility was clean, updated and staff was courteous. An indoor pool was available. No frills, just what you would expect from a hotel in this chain. Clean, comfortable and quiet.
