Bathroom in Our Room at Hampton Carol Stream
    Mark K.

This Hampton was fairly standard for the brand as far as the facility was concerned. The location was very convenient right on the main thoroughfare (North Ave.). Our room was reasonably spacious and clean. The lobby area was well kept. Our check-in experience was quite efficient and we generally found our interactions with the personnel to be pleasant and accommodating. The price was relatively decent for our last stay at $111 USD before tax. The one major flaw for this facility was the fact that the breakfast area was far too small for the size of the hotel. This became apparent on this stay. We had been here once before and it was not a problem on our last trip. This time my wife stayed in the breakfast area and finished her meal at the one seat we could find, while I went back upstairs to our room with my food. As a Hilton Diamond member, I occasionally run into this issue at Hamptons. Some are better than others in this regard. But when it does happen, it's always a bit irritating since the free breakfast is usually decent and part of the attraction for a Hampton. I'm not sure what it would take for them to make more room. However, I suspect this is not the first time this has been pointed out, so I'm sure they've thought about it.

Damage was badly patched in the bathroom

The place is a dump! They charged me more than I was quoted by Hilton and tried to charge me a "pet fee" for my service dog! Hampton Inns used to a hotel chain that had consistent high standards but no longer. Sad.

    This what I'm talking about!

Well here I am in this nice hotel, I stay at Hamptons a lot and they never disappoint in anyway. Always clean and the staff is always helpful. I recommend staying at this one. Sam was the front desk person and he was very helpful and was quick to check me in and had lots of recommendations for places to eat. Hampton inn my home away from home.

Actual bug still in unit room 604 (Isabel) does not pay attention to detail

To start off I would like say that this experience was almost shameful Hilton should re-evaluate the actual locations that they attach their name to!!!! Check in was was somewhat stressful but that wasn't entirely Hamptons fault, the reservation was booked through a third party site so information was lost in translation but our front desk agent (young man) seemed annoyed with his job (until a frequent guest came and then he jumped into action) A real Nephew TOM!!! His dismissive attitude is not becoming of a Hampton employee!!! Now the lobby is nice and clean to the eye but cold coffee and no cookies was a disappointment but that's not where my room was i stayed in room 603-604 where all the problems started!!! Initial exam of the room looked as if it was clean but the peeling/stained bathroom ceiling looked as if it would fall in at anytime but still not the real problem! After doing a bit of cleaning behind (Isabel) we decided to go to the Pool.... what a joke The indoor pool is tiny and it was ICE COLD but a plus for the hot tub that was actually warm again not a big problem....The real problem came when it was time to get in the bed and then the problem started!!!!! BUGS REALLY BIG BUGS crawling on the wall and bed (see pictures) after killing the Bugs and discreetly taking the pillow that it was on and the bug I was greeted by the best thing the hotel had going on The night desk auditor (Jet) who went above and beyond he suggested immediately that we change rooms and he also let me know that the 6th floor is the pet floor (travelers beware) He offered new linen for the beds since I was traveling with kids he tried his best to remedy the issue and it was appreciated BUT THE HOTEL DID NOTHING ELSE NOT AN APOLOGY NOT EVEN A FOLLOW UP PHONE CALL OR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of a issue in their establishment which seemed sketchy since the service was not up to even the lowest expectation so I decided to go back to the hotel to follow up and again I get Nephew Tom who in my opinion is not the right kid for the job i was told they couldn't give me a receipt for my stay since it was booked through third party and dismissed the fact that he works at an establishment that has bugs and poor customer support, It's been 2 day since my stay and still nothing from Hampton I'm disappointed and will be Informing Hilton about the representation of their brand!

I changed out the sheets and towels and brought the others in a plastic bag to bring them to the front desk. I set my room service for the following week. The woman at the front desk was a little rude and distancing. She would not look me in the eye when I asked for something. I had to use my 7th grade Spanish to talk to the room service lady (needed 2 washcloths). So I said "nesesitio dos toallas pequeñas" and she got it. Overall I found the place clean. My husband was working graveyard shift and the people were kinda loud early in the evening so he had to go to sleep with a pillow covering his ears. Getting out of bed on my side was very difficult because it was so close to the wall. I get up to use the restroom at night and had a couple falls with big bruises. But overall, we had an ok stay while looking for a reasonably priced apartment. The guests are generally quiet, but the kids running in the hallway were loud.

The area is nice there's a lot of shopping and restaurants around.

Amazing location and very very nice staff…read more We've stayed in a number of Marriott properties over the last few years and in the last 12 months I was starting to think that we had to lower our standards for the brand because our stays were increasingly bad. But this place turned that around, this is the Marriott hotel we were looking for and waiting for. The rooms were a good size and everything in the kitchen worked well for us. The place wasn't too noisy and we rarely heard other guests. Everyone at the front desk we interacted with was very polite, with a guy named Eric being incredibly helpful several times throughout the booking process. This place definitely re ignited our belief in Marriott and bonvoy overall and we look forward to staying here again.

Comfy couch w bed, plus bedroom w soft mattress. TV in both rooms and they swivel which was a nice as we could watch TV as we ate. TV had variety of choices; we chose Pluto and was able to watch our fave old classic TV show. It was freezing temps when we traveled so the room heated up well and the hotel was quiet for a Thanksgiving holiday, even w other dogs in the bldg. Room was clean, there was even a large bag left w extra blanket, sheets and pillow. We had relatives in Chicago so it was only a 30 min drive to downtown-but that just depends on the time of day you leave to avoid traffic on the expressway. The price we payed for 3 days was not bad, compared to other hotels that did not offer a kitchen. We took no photos but the others who did are the exact same as what our room looked like. Plus it was very clean for allowing pets-other places we've stayed w pets were dirty and smelly by comparison, but not here; it was a pleasant surprise because you really dont know what you're getting w pet hotels. The reviews here are right on and legit; I always go by reviews and sometimes they are off, but the good reviews are truthful. One review said they had to pay for parking; not so. Was never mentioned nor was charged for it. I'm disabled, and there was a handicapped space right outside the back entrace four doors from our room. I have nothing bad to say, other than just a couple small cons below which are tiny in comparison to all the pro's. We'd definitely stay here again and would recommend; our stay was very enjoyable!! There was only two cons: 1. The lighting in the vanity area could be better. 2. In the bedroom, there's a locked door where presumably the furnace is; it was very loud when it would turn on and it would run for a long time.

I can see where they are trying to go, but it's not there. The place is in disrepair if you pay attention at all (cracks, holes, chipped paint), a crappy elevator, there's even random crap thrown in a corner still in view of guest. If you want to be taken seriously, then handle all the stuff no one sees that isn't sexy, rather than just putting lipstick on a pig. There's no consistent theme. It's like 5 different people walked through a 2nd hand store in a rush, with no other options, so each picked what they found in their scavenger hunt and then threw it all together. It's a big space. The staff was great and welcoming. Seriously, they were solid. The place is a 2 star, but staff is worth another star. It just felt like coming to visit my aunt who doesn't get a lot of visitors so she threw everything in a closet knowing guest are coming over. We all have to ignore the smell and everything else. The stuff on the walls makes sense to her as they are her memories, but there's no theme other than her history, so none of it makes sense to anyone else. It's just awkward. The reason this place isn't booming is 100% on the owner. They are trying to look bougie, while ignoring real issues, and clearly in way over their head attempting to do way too much with too little. They need to take a loan or get an investor and make this place amazing. It could be, but it's not. Then again, not sure if the place they dream of could survive in that area as the prices would need to double and the area may not be willing to pay. Potential investors may have said the same. I see the vision, but also see the reality, which just frustrated me as there was conflict around every corner. Also, the bar closes early at like 8 or 9pm. Additionally the upgraded rooms with "garden view" are anything but. The actual room is good. The detached building however looks like it was a nursing home that's never been changed or upgraded; at least on the outside and entrance. When you walk in the front door of said nursing home, it SMELLS like a nursing home. It was strong and not in a good way. When you are in your room and look outside at the "garden view", it's a crappy 1/2 wall that appears to have been designed and built as a favor by a drunk uncle who was in a rush. It's very small and insignificant. It's an eye sore, but the "garden" is actually just the back yard looking directly into a crappy middle class neighborhood of back yards. All in all, my "get away" upgraded experience felt more like a motel 6 with a $1,000,000 dream on a $500 budget.
