To be fair, I've never hired any lighting or other film equipment in London before - so I don't…read morehave any other local media hiring agency with which to compare my experience with Circus Media to - so I don't know if it was pretty standard for London when it comes to film equipment hires or not.... That said, let's start with the good: The people at CMC were really really nice... very courteous.... willing to help... I would even say accommodating when it came to the days I needed to hire and the fact that the exact pieces I needed didn't exactly add up to their minimum daily hire charge (£80). As a whole, these are really kind and understanding people. The not-so-good: Service was pretty slow - both with pick-up and return I believe I was there for *well* over an hour - practically two for the pick-up. I was told that the next time this wouldn't be the case since my details etc. are now entered into the system - but still, good for *you* know if it's your first time hiring from them - and it would have been good for *me* to know (i.e. they probably should have told me) so that I wouldn't have been running so entirely late on an already tight schedule. Also, even though I went through an itemized list of my equipment needs with them more than once, in the end, I ended up taking lighting with me that didn't exactly meet my specs since they'd apparently already hired out the one light that I *really* wanted. C'est le vie... such is life with lo-fi indie film I guess... but if you use their services, I would *definitely* make sure that you have more than one in-writing confirmation sent to you indicating that they have and will have an itemized list of the equipment you need on the day of hire... might save you a bit of work and trouble!

The setting was wet - it was pouring - but the garden retreat was peaceful; Deborah's voice was relaxing, the music was soothing and we all escaped the over-crowded stress of our hectic lives. When your life is too crammed with busy-ness and you could do with a calmer perspective, meditation is worth considering. Nothing quirky or weird here - just a common sense, calming approach (and the one discipline confirmed to have a real impact, in the recent BBC2 series investigating complementary therapies). If you're seeking a healthy route to relaxation, why not put a serene meditation session to the test and see how it works for you

"GLE Group comprises four business areas each focussed on maximising the potential of individuals,…read moresmall enterprises and growing businesses. By bringing commercial know-how in economic development, finance and regeneration GLE delivers public policy objectives". That's the blurb on the website and I went to GLE on a recommendation from businesslink. For my purposes, I am interested in setting up a business but a bit clueless as where to start. I had an hour and half meeting with a guy called Jorge who explained all that I need to do as a starting point and also the ways that GLE could support me. He was patient and gave me loads of advice. I think it's really great that there is so much support for initiation of enterprise in London. All the services that GLE offer are for free and if you are thinking about a business, this is definitely the first place to go. There's all the obligatory paperwork to fill in. As with all publicly funded operations, the funders need to see where and how their money is being spent, but it's a small amount of effort for the support. One thing that I was unhappy with was that I signed up for a tax seminar and when I arrived on the day, it had been canceled. No apologies were given and when Jorge phoned me the next day I yelled at him, which was a bit unfair as he is in a completely different division and office.
