    Scott Pierson (doing business as Dreambuilders, Pierson Contracting, or Deck Guys) signed a…read moretime-and-materials contract for part of my kitchen remodeling project, including wall removal/modification, installation of a glue-lam beam, drywall and texturing, and relocation of plumbing, electrical, and lighting. Before substantial work began, a dispute arose regarding scope. He asserted that the agreement included cabinet purchasing and installation, which was not reflected in the written contract. He also contacted my cabinet supplier directly regarding that portion of the project. Shortly before the scheduled start of the main work, he presented a second time-and-materials contract intended to replace the original agreement, with expanded scope and revised payment terms. I declined to sign a new contract and maintained that the original agreement remained in effect. He then stated that the original pricing was too low and was unwilling to proceed under the initial agreement. As a result, I terminated the contract for cause and hired another contractor.
