This Hamman experience was my favorite part of Grenada. It's a 90 minute experience but they were not very strict about timing which was nice. They had a cold pool, medium warm pool, multiple hot pools, and a steam room. They also had hot stones but it was more like barely warm, had to confirm that this is it stone. Highly recommend adding a massage to the experience. I got a 30 minute massage and my masseuse, Andre, was very good! Although he did not speak much English. I wish you could specify a masseuse or at least gender though. read more

I went with my husband, who they forgot to bring back, so he was at least 30 minutes behind me, he was supposed to have a 45 min massage, but due to the 11/2 hr timeline, he only got about a 20 min one and I felt rushed through the whole process and didn't get to enjoy it with my husband. Great relaxing experience after a day at the Alhambra. Beautiful area of Granada, but isn't it all?

I came here two times in the recommendation of a friend who had been here in the past. My first time I just did a water circuit and I absolutely loved it. The visuals were breathtaking and it was super quiet and tranquil. It was also 40 degrees outside and it was a lovely escape from the heat! Funnily enough the waters were less hot than the outside. I loved it so much I booked a second time a week after. When I wanted to book they told me that the only available appt was one with a massage, which is more expensive for the same amount of time in the facility. I booked it anyways because I loved it so much the first time. The second time was terribly underwhelming. The pre dipping showers had no soap- only one of the showers did. It irked me the entire time that most people were dipping without having a proper shower. I told the staff this fact and the soap dispensers were not filled during my time there. The massage- the table smelled disgusting and I had to put my face down on the massage table... this irked me the most! And the basically obligatory massage was terrible. She was just rubbing oil all over my body. After it was hard to shower with the little soap in the dispenser, and then I realized that everyone was just dipping in the waters with oil all over their bodies after the massage. This is gross. I saw the waters under the light and yes you could see the streaks of oil was floating everywhere. The water temperatures were also strange- the warm barely being warm and the hot barely being hot. The lady was giving 15 min and then a 5 minute warning- sort of yelling. There was also a lot of talking from the staff and the clientele. The first time everyone was being shushed. I liked the experience first time, sort of being blind to these issues, but after the second time, I will def. not go back and do not recommend based on lack of attention on hygiene here. And yes you are walking around bare foot, and you don't get to take a towel into the steam room. read more

I loved my visit to the hammam! I got a body scrub and then soaked in the many pools. It was a relaxing and lovely experience, although somewhat pricey. I was given the scrubby mitt to take home with me and it's both a nice reminder of my trip and the most effective exfoliator I've ever had. The shower and getting ready areas for after your services are well-appointed with hair dryers and beauty products to make sure you are ready for the rest of your day when you leave. This place is definitely oriented toward the tourist (not in a bad way, but definitely too pricey for the average local) and most if not all of the staff speaks English. read more

Hammam Al Andalus has several locations in Spain, but when I saw that they had one in Granada we had to go. We have spas in the United States but we do not have Arab bath houses so this was a completely new experience for me. We made a reservation online through their website for a specific date/time then we were set to go. When we arrived I was immediately intrigued by the beauty of even the courtyard lobby, serving refreshing tea. So what is it about? A hammam is a bath house for relaxation. The type of service we booked was use of the bath house and a 15 minute massage (about $50 USD). There are different types of heat in the pools and various rooms including a steam room. The colors, the lighting and the architecture are all lovely. It looks like the architecture you would see at the Alhambra. When it was time for our massage they came to get us based on the wristbands we were given. What do you bring? I'm sure back in the day people just went in the nude but luckily everyone had to wear bathing suits here. They provide the towels and we were given bags to put around our sandals so that when we walked through the locker rooms everything was kept very clean. The lockers are where you can place your belongings while you are enjoying the bath house. If you are unable to visit this specific hammam then try one of their other locations! Our only regret was not getting a longer massage. read more

I've always wanted to try a hammam (Turkish bath). When I lived in France the gym that had one limited it to only men so I was excited and determined to check out this spot. Because it's co-ed you must wear a swimsuit. Once you check in, you put plastic bags over your shoes and are led to a waiting area that has Moroccan mint tea. Once you're called, you are lead to a changing room with lockers, toilets, sinks and showers. The lockers have an electronic code that you input your own number to lock up. After you've changed, you're given a tour of the facilities which includes cold pool, two warm pools, a hot pool, steam room, sauna and massage areas. The interior is absolutely gorgeous and is reminiscent of the Alhambra. You can pretend that you're royalty as your surrounded by candles and carved stonework throughout. If you have a ticket stub from the Alhambra you get a small discount. Daughter and I had a 90 minute bath experience followed by a 15 minute massage each and (bonus!) unlimited Moroccan mint tea for 99€. The scents you can choose from for the massage are absolutely divine and are sourced locally. I bought a small bottle of the pomegranate flower massage oil for 6,50€. Lying there on the heated stone platform after my massage I went into another state - all I know is that time passed but I wasn't asleep. Leaving this place I felt very refreshed and relaxed. Should you be so fortunate to have a stay in Granada definitely check this out! read more

Mixed feelings. On one hand, after a long day walking around this place offers some solace, and has an incredibly beautiful atmosphere. But charging someone 75€ to spend 10 min taking a tour of bath, locker room, shower room and learning the rules of the whole place, take a bath for 20 min, 5 min in steam room, 15 min wash by therapist, 15 min light rub on the back and legs, then after massage to tell the client "bath time is finished, please go to the changing room" -- I felt this was not right. I wish I had known they kick you out directly after you get a massage. Imagine that! In Italy if you go to the hot springs or any place that has baths, you are paying for an entrance for the day. If you pay 50€ for a 15 min massage (which better be a damn good one!!!), that's 25€ left for an entrance fee, or tip, or whatever. But this is not the case here. I quickly understood that this is an operation solely with profit in mind. I feel very sorry for the people who work here, as they were doing a fantastic job but I could feel the tension and unhappiness in their voices, as they projected it onto me and others. What a shame! They only focus on turnover so other clients can pay the same price and be kicked out in an hour or so. Disappointing. read more

It's very pretty and cool to see. Presentation is high in the wow factor. It's pretty easy to get in and out of and overall I liked it. I'm here's really only one pool worth going in though. The steam room is also nice and hot. I recommend bringing a water bottle. Use it, the water situation is kind of a mess .. some attendants will tell you it's ok others will tell you no, insist on your own water bottle if you have one - say health reasons or something. read more

This business should not be classified as a Day Spa on Yelp, the Hammam team strictly identifies themselves as a bath, they do not qualify to be considered a spa considering service is so poor. Areas of observation: 1. When we were directed to the lockers, they were extremely small and everyone was crammed in, we felt like cattle. 2. I asked for a 15 minute firm massage and basically had someone lightly rubbing me the entire time. 3. The showers did not have shampoo or conditioner, and we were required to use the same towel. 4. The shower lasted 4 seconds and you had to keep pushing a button for more water. 5. There was no waiting area after the service because there were so many people - my husband had to wait 15 minutes in the cold for me. 6. To top it off, a member of my party was unable to make their appointment due to illness and the team did absolutely nothing to add that already PAID service to my experience. We basically paid extra for the Hammam team to not do their job. Some people say it's charming, I say they need to up their level of service in all aspects. Do NOT come here. read more

Wow. This place was amazing. The BF booked this since it was a popular activity in Granada, and we both had no expectations coming in since we didn't know what to expect. This place is very quaint, tucked away inside granada. I recommend booking online in advance since they do get booked up fast! When we arrived we were lead into this small open courtyard where we enjoyed the tea. Then they called our names and we went separately into the locker rooms. Here we were instructed to leave our swim suits on and then go out to the meeting spot. This place has 4 baths: the cold, hot, temperate, and steam room. They allow you 1.5 hours to rotate through the baths and to enjoy tea. The tea inside the resting area was AMAZING. It was almost like a sweet, chai type of tea. I could drink it ALL DAY. It was so delicious especially after soaking in the baths. We also booked a "bath" and a 15 minute massage which was honestly the highlight of my trip. The bath consisted of a ritual where they do a gently body scrub and rinse you with water. It sounds silly but it was so relaxing, as it was dark, and there was nice music in the background. The massage was after and it was also amazing. It felt much longer than 15 minutes and it was very relaxing. After the experience, I met up with my BF again and he also thought it was absolutely an amazing experience. For 70 euros, I thought it was well worth it. We loved the experience so much that we decided we wanted to do it in Seville too! However we found that the experience in Seville was not as nice. This is a really nice Turkish bathhouse in Granada, which is a very relaxing romantic way to spend an afternoon after sightseeing. The bath is open late, so it's great to go around 6 PM or 8 PM. Once you get in, you are not allowed to wear shoes and men and women are separated in the locker rooms I can meet up once they go into the pool area. They are various pools of cold and hot water, various Middle Eastern tease that you can drink, and there's a relaxing massage at the end of experience. Overall it was one of the highlights of my Granada trip and I highly recommend it as a way to unwind. read more

We visited the hammam during our visit to Granada. It was a fantastic, relaxing experience in the middle of a hot day. We arrived, checked in, and were led to the waiting room. We waited for a very short time, had a small glass of hot mint tea, and then were led to the locker rooms. We changed into our suits and then met back near the pools to get an explanation of how the experience works. Basically there are 3 pools- hot, medium hot, and cold and a steam room. They recommend a specific order, but I can't remember what it was. You are free to move as you please for an hour and a half. It was a great, relaxing experience. I think it was my husband's favorite part of our trip. I would definitely go back, and I would probably book a massage. read more

No privacy - non hygiene- the staff walks around in flip flops you get to walk around in bare feet with everyone else's dirty feet. The staff is friendly and efficient. You need to ware a swimsuit. The facility is very clean. The Arabian décor add to the amazing ambiance. There are three baths....cold, warm, and hot. There is also a sauna. You can add on scrubs or messages for about $15. The 1 hour for baths and 15 min for massage cost $50. The dressing room is very nice and there are free lockers for your belongings. There is tea available while you are going bath to bath. Make sure you check out the burning scents outside the cold bath....these are your four choices for your massage oil scent. After your massage, they have you lay on a large heated stone platform. Overall, it was a very relaxing experience and I thought it was good value. read more

Wow, you get a feel of what royal bathing was like for those in this part of the world as you enter here. The massage rituals are so culturally specific, the hammam authentic and the various soaking pools have architectural details, tiles, and lighting that's other worldly! I opted for a reduced group size experience by extending my time in the space with massage so I didn't soak as much as others. It is a dozen or so people in the baths with you when you go, they allow well behaved children which is rare, and I'm positive if I loved locally I'd haunt here regularly. In NYC there is one just like this but the price point is high comparatively so I'm pleased I didn't drop a fortune to try. Unfortunately now that I know what it is like I may be tempted in NYC. If I could leave zero stars I would. This is not a true Hammam - I have been to plenty in Turkey, and the only thing that makes this place even close is the beautiful interior. The services are terrible. Families run around in a co-ed 'hot tub' area and don't respect the tradition. My wife and I had an enjoyable experience at Hammam Al Andalus which we particularly enjoyed after spending almost nine hours walking around Alhambra. I made reservations online and if I recall correctly received a 15% discount. We opted for the ritual bath and massage in addition to the standard pool experience. The ritual bath consists of some kind of foamy grape mixture that they pour over you and then lightly scrub your body with using a loofah like glove sponge. I'm not sure if it's an exfoliant or just a cleanser but it felt nice. The massage was pretty decent but I don't think the 90 lbs. Spanish girl who gave it could have done much for my sore and aching body after carrying a heavy backpack around Spain for a week and then walking around Alhambra for more than 9 hours with my camera bag and 1.5 liter of water on my back. Afterward my ritual bath and massage I returned to the soaking pools which were perfect and relaxed myself and recharged my batteries. Your attendant is supposed to keep track of your time and limits you to an hour and a half total in the baths but we lost track of time and never felt rushed at any point. read more

This is a must while in Granada! The Hammam is a portal to a different time and place. Sexy, mysterious, relaxing. The tile and candlelit lighting are enchantingly beautiful. It's meant for quiet - the one time I saw a group of guys talking, they got hushed by an attendant. The crowd was mixed: I was surprised to see a few kids with their parents, but they were all very well behaved. There was what appeared to be a bachelor party and the rest were couples (a few with some heavy PDA). We didn't do massage, just the baths, rotating among the hot, medium, and cold pools as well as the steam room. We also sprawled out on the rock at the end, closing our eyes to fully relax. The attendant who gave us the tour said she'd tell us when our time was up, but 90 minutes was more than enough time and we ended up finishing early. We felt like we got our money's worth as it was reasonably priced, at least in my frame of reference of San Francisco bath house standards. Perhaps the one downside is that the locker rooms were very humid and steamy since they're only separated from the baths by a curtain. It'll be worth it to rinse off after you're done in the baths, but the shower and toiletries were lacking so I finished up at my hotel. Feel safe making a late reservation (we did 10pm) - the town is still very happening late at night and your walk back will be just fine. read more

Bought tickets for the next day and when showed up, we couldn't get in because apparently they had their staff party in there. Im pretty sure that it was an honest mistake but we were really disappointed where the same lady who had sold us the tickets and helped us pick up the time slot did not have the decency to say sorry but intead she made it seem like as if it was our fault that we chose to come at this time of the day and disturbed their party by knocking on the door. This was our second time coming to the same hammam but after this experience I would rather take a warm shower in our hotel than going through all this. Hands down one of my most favorite experiences in Europe. After a week walking all over Spain my feet and body were aching. Hammam was the solution (and much more). This was my first Arab bath experience. And what an experience it was. The whole experience was surreal. Not only was it relaxing with the different pools, but the environment made you feel like you were transported to an ancient mystical time. It's almost all candle lit which just adds to the ambience. I added a 30 min massage and granted its not one of those get the knots out of your muscles massage but it is relaxing. Afterwards I felt renewed and rejuvenated! Definite must if you're in Granada. This place was incredible! The atmosphere, the customer service, the amenities... everything is tastefully done. The Bathhouse has 3 temperatures of community baths... cold, medium, and hot. The Sauna is incredible as well. You get 90 minutes in the baths and you are free to rotate between the rooms as you wish. I actually did not opt for the massage as it would have taken away from the overall time in the various baths, but if you want a massage, they offer it. 90 minutes was PLENTY of time in the baths... it actually started to feel like too long (says no one-ever!). They offer complimentary mint tea throughout the session and there is a fountain to splash water over your shoulders if you feel too warm or overheated. You just wear a swim suit and the baths are co-ed, however, the locker rooms are single gender. When you first get in, they escort you to a locker room where you can securely store your bag (you create a 4 digit pin to lock and unlock the locker). You cannot wear shoes in the bath house, the locker room, shower... anywhere. Once you get in, you must put these little shoe covers over your feet. There is a shower area to take a shower once your session is done, however, please note... there are no shower curtains (smile). There is a separate vanity area to doll yourself up if you are going to leave the baths and go out afterwards. Overall, it was an incredible experience. Very relaxing, and well worth the 30 euros it costs to get in. Make sure you call ahead to reserve your spot. FYI... You will need to reserve your spot with a credit card. read more

Go here to relax for 1.5 hour. Don't come here for a good massage. We made a reservation through their website with a credit card the day ahead and it did not work. I called and made the reservation with someone in English for the next day. The morning of the reservation we added another person to our party. So although the FAQ on their website says you have to make a reservation, it's only in case there are not enough spaces. Our reservation was on a Saturday when the city gets more tourists. The website does not state that children are only 12 Euros with a bath instead of 24. So better to book the reservation on the phone to get that deal. Also if you bring your Alhambra tickets you get 10% off when you arrive (after making reservation over the phone). We arrived a few minutes early and were given towels and a colored wristband to show we get a 15-minute massage. There is a locker room with toilets, dressing rooms and showers. Our lockers and those of others did not always lock and you had to tinker with it to lock. Both men and women go to the baths together in their swimsuits. Inside the bath area there is hot tea, but no water. So best to bring your own! There are baths ranging from cold, warm and very warm, but the water does not get as hot as a hot tub. There is also a steam room that does not get that steamy or hot either. The decorations are very nice and made to look like the original hamam. You are supposed to keep your voices low and your movements low key to keep a calm and relaxing atmosphere. A staff person will tell you to be quieter if necessary. The lighting is kept low with just some candles and a little sunlight. Everything is kept very clean. The pool water is made clean with "bromo" or bromide instead of chlorine or salt. A visit is supposed to be 1.5 hours. If you get a massage it is included in that 1.5 hour, but don't make plans for getting out of there in 1.5 hour. They were running late when we were there. We hung out in the baths for 1.75 to 2 hours before starting our massage. The third person to get a massage in my group was made to get out of the pool while waiting for her very late massage so they could clean around it for the next session of visitors. We were bored waiting around for our massage and we didn't arrive late either. I was SO looking forward to a good massage but was very disappointed. It was more like a light rubdown than a real massage. The massage therapist I had appeared to have some training. When we began she asked me where I wanted to focus and how much pressure. I told her a lot of pressure. When it was not nearly enough, I said more. Then I said more and more and more and she just couldn't apply much pressure. I can understand if they are giving many massages all day that they cannot apply a lot of pressure, but she still didn't even use any useful techniques for my sore muscles, pressure aside. Overall, it was an interesting experience, but not worth the 36 Euros for a bath and bad massage. read more

Just what I needed after a month of traveling through Spain. I came here solo first thing in the morning while my husband stayed in with our son. It was only about an 8 min walk from our apartment in the Albycin. The setting of the baths is beautiful and intimate. I really felt as though I was bathing in the Alhambra itself. Some things to know before you go: - book your appointment in advance online and go early morning or late evening when it's less crowded - bring a bathing suit. The baths are coed - there's a steam room in the back corner by the largest bath - lay on the hot stone after your massage - the scrub isn't harsh at all and feel free to ask ask for a deeper massage if the intensity isn't to your liking - try dipping in the ice cold water. The best spa experience yet, better than my favorite Refuge in Carmel, California. Cozy, intimate, with an authentic feel. Total time in a typical visit is 1.5 hours including the massage if you booked it. This is sufficient time to enjoy the experience, although 30-60 minutes more would be perfect. The massage is done after you've spent some time in the pools, and you'll have more time for the pools after the massage. Don't expect much from the massage; even if you tell the masseur/masseuse to apply hard pressure, it won't be hard. Call ahead to book your visit. 8 pm seem to be popular, although it never felt too crowded. This time is perfect after an afternoon visit at the Alhambra. There's also a 10 pm time slot and a midnight, maybe there's less people those times. If you're squeamish about walking barefoot in public places, know that it's barefoot only (past the changing rooms). read more

Do not bother with any other hammams in Granada. I took my bath-addicted boyfriend to both here and another bath that had good reviews online, and the experiences were not even close. The place is big, and only a certain number of people are allowed in each 90-minute session, so it doesn't feel overcrowded. The ambience is amazing (just as beautiful as it appears in photos), and there are rules requiring people to speak in low voices/stay silent, and for kids to always be with an adult. Each of the pools are great, and there is no chlorine or chemical smell at all. Hands down the cleanest, most relaxing bath experience we've ever had. We walked out of there feeling like jelly, and with the cleanest, softest skin ever, even though we didn't have any treatments. Don't miss this while you're in Granada. read more

Hands down my most relaxing experience ever. The ambiance was incredible to the point where even the waiting and changing areas surpassed my expectations. The baths are BEAUTIFUL - I could hardly believe we were allowed to swim in them. Didn't get a chance to experience the cold pool as my friend and I basically melted into one of the hot pools. The tiles, candles, columns...everything was just so magical. The massage was fantastic and I loved the oil scents they offered. The masseuse was very nice and did a fantastic job - almost too good as I fell asleep for a brief moment lol. After the massage we got to lie down on a hot stone for a bit. I spent the time sadly reflecting on the fact that I don't have anything that comes close to Hammam Al Andalus Granada in my hometown... :( For $70, this experience was a complete steal. I'm lucky if I can find a basic 60 minute massage for under $120 where I live. Money aside, it's going to be hard for me to find another place that comes close to the beauty and ambiance I experienced here. 100% would recommend - I'm even tempted to fly back to Granada just to go back here! read more

After a couple of weeks of carrying our daypack in Spain, my wife and I needed massages. We booked them at our hotel only to cancel for Hammam. I must say the massage was not the focus. The experience was. We booked online for a 2 hour slot. If you book by phone and tell them you have an Alhambra ticket stub, you get 10% off. We picked a package that had a massage with oil essence and lather. Everyone checks in and waits in a common area with sofas and pillows. We were given shoe covers to wear in the non bath and dressing areas. The dressing areas, bath and massage areas are barefoot only. Bathing suits, including tops for women are required. The group is very limited to create a tranquil and uncrowded atmosphere. There were perhaps 8 couples of all ages, a group of young women, and a couple of single men. The primary language spoken was Spanish, but German, French were also well represented. The attendants spoke excellent English to us and the German/Scandinavian patrons. We were directed to changing rooms with secure hotel style combination lockers. The changing room has lavatories, showers, soap, shampoo, hair dryers, deodorant, Q tips and plastic bags for wet suits. There is only a curtain separating you from the baths. The attendants directed us and explained the circuit of steam sauna, warm bath, hot bath and cold bath. There was a room to sip very good Moroccan hot tea (sweet) and water. We did a circuit and were called by an attendant to our massage. The massage was nothing like I have in the past experienced. It was in a out area of a common private central area (hard to describe). It consisted of a great deal of the masseuse pouring water on me. The sounds were unforgettable. Distant splashing water, and Arabic soft music. The thing that came into my mind was that I felt I had been transported to biblical times. My wife had finished her massage and watched me get up from the table. We did perhaps 3 more circuits and had another cup of tea. The one thing I would say is that couples seemed more relaxed and in tune with each other in the end than in the beginning. Each bath was either empty or with few people. The size of each pool varied but was appropriate. We never were close to other patrons. The last thing is that it did not matter your body type or orientation. It was just a great experience with an awesome establishment, in a great decor. read more

While this was not on my radar, the hammam offers a fantastic deal through the language school (23 euros for a massage and bath access). This is a great midday option to beat the heat and wait out the siesta or, like us, book services at midnight where you will have the entire hamman to yourself! The hammam opens until 2am so you can either have this end your night or start your night out :) There is a warm pool, hot pool, cold pool, steam room, massage area and relaxing room where you can lay down on hot stones. If you have the time, I would make this a "must do" in Granada. Erica's description of the experience completely aligns with mine.

I would say this is definitely worth going to. It is very relaxing, and you can go to whichever temp bath you prefer (cold, warm, hot). The later at night, the less crowded normally- you can even go at midnight! We got 15 minute massages with our package, which was very relaxing as well. Very zen spot. read more

Very cool. After visiting the Alhambra and Generalife and learning the history of Granada, it was doubly cool to have a moorish bath experience ourselves with modern-day standards :) Plus a 45 minute massage with scented oils that was just lovely.
