History
Established in 2013.
After working in a private studio in Valdese, NC for 15 years, local potter, Hamilton Williams moved his studio production into downtown Morganton, NC to take part in the burgeoning arts community that the city offers. The building that Hamilton's studio now resides in offered additional square footage for retail so the new Hamilton Williams Gallery was born.
Meet the Business Owner: Hamilton W.
Hamilton Williams has been a professional potter since 1994 when he left the University of NC Greensboro with a BFA in Design and a desire to create. He began Hamilton Williams ClayWorks that same year and began pottery production in Hickory, NC. A few years later, Hamilton moved the production west to the town of Valdese, NC where he developed his now famous pottery designs and glazes. Hamilton joined the prestigious Southern Highland Craft Guild in 2004 and began teaching at Western Piedmont Community College in 2003. During his WPCC years, Hamilton's educational focus was on teaching glaze chemistry, kiln building, production pottery, and craft marketing. Hamilton's work has traveled widely and can be found in homes and businesses world wide.
