Great Staff, Nice Facility A few months ago I came to this ER after a karate fight dislocated my knee. Dr. Sykes and his team took great care of me. The only downside was it was after 8pm so they couldn't do an MRI for me. Here I am again here now for a crazy kidney stone and the staff has has been really great. My ER provider was Jason Roswell PA. He was professional and efficient. He got my treatment handled and communicated well. The ER Nurse Allison Hamilton was also super friendly and did a great job. She took the time to handle my questions and needs. The CAT scan woman is also always super great. It's my second time having her scan me so far. I don't remember her name but we have almost the same exact birthday! My hospitalist Dr. Ektaben Patel was really nice and friendly. They are slammed today and she made sure she spent time and got me handled. Nurse Anna LPN was a gem. She was so polite and I appreciate her efforts. Dietician Rebecca Power was knowledgeable and friendly and wanted to make sure my dietary needs were met. Well that's where I am so far on this day's hospital festivities. Hopefully this kidney stone will leave me so I can go home soon. I do not know why there are so many bad reviews for this place. read more

They are always so slow even in ER. My mom came for a broken hip at 94 and was in great pain. Even after the Dr ordered the shot to ease the suffering, it took another 45 minutes of hearing her moan and beg for help. I won't ever be back here again for anything. Worst representation of both a Hospital and Humanity. There may be a few Competent and Caring people in the Entire Hamilton Medical Care System, but they appear to be missing in action. My Brother was in ICU awaiting a Helicopter Transport to EMORY in Atlanta. Emory had Finally gotten a Liver Transplant for him, after being on a Donor List for 4 years. His Emory Dr had admitted him to Hamilton Medical ICU, just to Keep his Ammonia Levels and other fluids correct. This was all they had to do, Watch Him, Provide IV Fluids, and Take Him to the Helicopter Transfer. In ICU he had to go to the toilet. No One Answered His Calls, he Took the IV with him and walked to the bathroom. Surprisingly No One noticed an ICU patient was out of bed. The Helicopter was en route at this time. Evidently he became Dizzy, he was 6' 4", and fell down in the Bathroom and Hit His Head on the Porcelain Sink. This resulted in Severe Skull Breaks, from which he Bled to Death. Absolutely horrible place and people to deal with. My Dr sent over a referral for a nerve study and this place done the paperwork wrong. Haley Mertz apologized for the inconvenience and rescheduled my appointment. Two months later I get billed for a consultation that never happened. Haley Mertz is falsifying documents to charge patients. Literally trying to rob patients for false services. The people can't even answer questions that are being asked. DO NOT GO HERE!! They obviously have horrible reviews for a reason. I just wished I would have checked into this place before being referred here. I would give ZERO stars. read more

Absolutely terrible and unsanitary care! You would expect their SCCU/ICU to have higher standard of care, but I assure you they do not. Uneducated nurses, more worried about nurse station gatherings than patient care. Picking up a-line off floor, not sanitizing, drawing labs, lacks common sense, much less not even close to evidenced based practice. Lack of interdisciplinary practices. Pumps beeping for an unsafe amount of time when a patient is on pressors. Do not take constructive feedback well. They become defensive and "we do no wrong mentality." If you want to live stay away from Hamiliton Medical Center. I think their 1.4/5 star rating speaks truths. read more

My mother in law was there for very high blood pressure. She was there several days. She is 79 years old. When I went over to see her, after she was released to go home, SHE STILL HAD THE PORT IN HER HAND!?!?!?!? From the IV. Are you kidding me?!?!?!?!?! Also be careful with the billing department. I have been turned over before to collections and so have my friends. They will not even send you bills but then for some strange reason you will get that letter from the collection agency. They are notorious for that. Their automation doesn't even match the bill you receive. They want you to key in your reference number BELOW YOUR NAME and there isn't one. UPDATE your system Hamilton. if I could put less stars I would!!! I have a 13 month old daughter and being a first time mom I've never seen my child in the amount of pain she was in. I doing all I could with a baby screaming in pain to where she was red in the face and stiffening up in pain! we waited forever!! to be seen and no one really cared to even check on us! the longest person who stayed in my daughters room was just to collect insurance! the dr was absolutely awful!!!!! did not even return to see my daughter. did no treatment plan or notbing and after HOURS of waiting I asked to just be discharged but in des need for cream for my daughters rash..waited another hour still not even discharged papers! she couldnt even do something as little as that I had to walk out to the nurses desk SEVERAL times when finally I told them I was leaving they finished eating and handed me discharge papers that they had just then printed off..all I got was papers to leave. no medication for my child not even cream for her that I asked 5 times for. I left with an upset 13 month old in pain it was awful the lack of care this dr had she just sat at the desk and wouldn't even speak to us! I will never trust this hospital to treat my child ever again. I've sense had to make another appointment with my pediatrician just to get help for my daughter. It all depends on who is working if you get good treatment or not. In 2004 I had breathing problems first I was given a medication I was allergic to that messed my heat rythem up not once but 3 times they had to admit me. Then the doctor they assigned me said it was all in my head then the lung doctor they sent me to said I was dying from end stage copd. What I had was pneumonia and now I have technicardia because of the messed up medicine they gave me but I'm still alive. But with all that said there have been a few times that I've had really good doctors see me like I said it's all about who's working. read more

Took my son to the emergency room for swollen of his face, neck and throat, along with slight trouble breathing and swallowing, After waiting for 3 to 4 hours to be seen, all the doctor gave him was an IV and some pain medicine, after the IV was done we were told more less " we could leave''. My mother was taken 2/15/22 and 2/18/22 the service was the worst uncaring nurse she had we had to ask for someone to see her several times they did all the blood work and did it uncaring she was bleeding so much her bandaid was soaked and the bed as well the nurse didn't even notice it until we let her know to clean my mom. I was taken to Hamilton Medical Center presenting with stroke-like symptoms (weakness on the right side of my body). The ER took me back immediately and started the stroke protocol immediately. I'm a previous stroke survivor and they were on top of their game. The test came back that there was no stroke. The neurologist continued to ask questions, to assess and stayed in touch with my regular neurologist at Erlanger. The final diagnosis came back as Hemipalegic Migraine. After further research, I discovered many with this rare migraine go YEARS without a diagnosis and I was able to get one with the first episode. The medical staff was attentive, friendly and went out of their way to take care of me. I was put in MICU (I think that's what it was called) for observation because of the meds I was given. The room was large and nice. I had another one several weeks later and because they mimic strokes, I ended up at Erlanger. Hamilton's ER experience was FAR BETTER than my Erlanger ER experience (but that's another review). read more

I fell and had a small fracture in my ankle. I was seen at the ER and had an xray and splint. My bill after my insurance applied the discount was 2,565.61 I was charged 1,263 for a splint , 789 for the ER visit , 412 for for an xray of my ankle and 99 for surgical supplies. This is what is wrong with the health care system. Don't go to the ER unless you are dying. read more

Worst hospital experience ever. I had a csection, which ended up being the worst experience in my life. It took the nurse over 5 minutes to place the IV, which ended up being placed in a place that poked when I moved my arm. The anesthesiologist gave me a spinal tap with a batch of medication that had already not worked for one patient. I had to receive two spinals before I started feeling numb. Afterward, the pain medication pump didn't work. Medication was finally switched and worked, but I had to log and track my own medication times. They didn't monitor it and ask my pain levels. I had to call/send my husband to get the nurse when it was time for pain medication. The nurses did not explain anything nor were they friendly. I do not recommend that anyone ever go to this hospital. Drive the extra minutes to another hospital!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

My sister went into the ER on 12/8/2020. She has heart failure and left bundle branch block heart condition. She has high blood pressure and her blood pressure was 199/99 and she was having chest pains on the left side of her chest, it was sharp pains, and her blood pressure was high. We were concerned about her having an episode (Left bundle branch block can reflect damage to the left ventricle caused by high blood pressure, a heart attack, a failing aortic valve, coronary artery disease, heart failure, or other cardiac conditions. In these cases, treatment focuses on the cause of the block) so we went, they mentioned keeping her overnight for observation but said they may or may not do a stress test or Echo test. She said she'd rather go home but then they were saying sh may not be cleared to get the dental work she needs. So she stayed. Mind you she hasn't been in the ER since Feb of this year. The cardiologist (Dr. Stewart) that came in to see her said she can't run to the ER every time she has a pain. He made her feel stupid for coming in. The doctor who came in after him this morning said she did the absolute right thing. Doctors you need to learn to be compassionate if you aren't. You are not above reproach. The reason I gave a good review to the hospital was because of the general doctor, and especially the nurses. Isaac the nurse on the 3rd floor and the doctor that assisted her this morning were very nice, and caring. You can tell people difficult things if you are respectful, the cardiologist didn't need to be demeaning. Honesty doesn't require meanness. read more

Very understaffed and my mother in-law laid in her own pee for an hour before they would send somebody. Asked for a bedside potty for her as she had a broken pelvis and it literally took constantly requesting it and then 4 days later was acquired. Also didn't get a shower for 4 days until I had to ask for a head nurse. Literally set in a chair for 5 hrs because we were told they didn't have enough people to help with getting her in the bed! This experience has added a lot of stress to an already stressful situation! Do NOT bring your loved ones here! Most are sarcastic at best. read more

I wish there was an option for no stars. I started getting automated calls telling me to call their business office. My feeling is, if they have a question then they should be called ME! After the second call I did call them to find out what it was about. The first call was on 10/12, the second call was on 10/23 and they were calling me about a bill that was generated on 10/17 and I didn't even get the bill until later that day on the 23rd. That means they were hounding me about a bill on 10/12 that they wouldn't be generating for another three days! Not to mention the fact that the bill isn't due until 11/3! If it wasn't for the fact that I adore my therapist I wouldn't deal with this hospital at all. Terrible, terrible, terrible!!! read more

The owner of the company I work for had to bring me into the hospital mid-day. The Er got me in quickly. First nurse and doctor were friendly, helpful, and did all they could. I was there from 1130 am until about 8 pm; multiple tests ran, pain managed, but no results. They admitted me for observation which I declined after some thought due to my insurance coverage out of pocket percentage. The night nurse then proceeded to voice in front of other patients and their guests that I "had gotten all the pain meds I could get and was now leaving". When administering the last shot before I was discharged she made a snarky comment to me about how much pain medicine I had been given and proceeded to gossip to another nurse while I was getting dressed. Up until I was leaving this nurse never attended to me, hadn't introduced herself the one time prior that she walked into my room, and refused to look me in the eye when I confronted her upon leaving. Due to her misconception, unprofessional manor, and disgraceful voiced assumptions people who saw me are now under the assumption that I'm a pain med junkie instead of a patient who had been there over 9 hours with no food, little water, who had every possible test taken, was worried about missing the day of work and subsequently the following due to having to see my regular attending physician, and had exhausted the resources the hospital had to treat the condition I was there for. In hopes that this doesn't happen to another patient I've reported her to the hospital's Human Resources department. read more

Hamilton Medical Center 1200 Memorial Dr, Dalton, GA JJ HENLEY I started receiving a bill from Hamilton Medical Center January 2018 for a service that was not rendered there. But it was a lab service that I did not know was sent there for a date of service August 2017. I had to figure out why I was being billed. I called the billing service every single month and explained that they did not file the claim correctly. I gave them the correct information over and over for 7 months. They said they would file it but they did not. They refused to call the ins company. I called the ins company every month as well, the ins company refused to call the facility, just said have them refile a corrected claim. The facility gets a "remit" every time they file a claim, it explains if the claim was paid and how much, or if it was denied - why it was denied. Last month The ins company was supposed to take care of this issue and send the facility a letter to stop billing me and they were going to process the claim. TODAY I GOT A LETTER FROM A COLLECTION AGENCY. BECAUSE THESE LAZY PEOPLE DO NOT DO THEIR JOBS I AM SENT TO COLLECTIONS! The billing dept spent more money billing me, and talking on the phone with me, and supposedly sending the CORRECT information to the claims filing dept, and refiling the claim for 7 months, costing them more money than the amount of the bill. You need to hire competent people that are trained to do their job RIGHT! So once again I am on the phone wasting my time because they are INCOMPETENT!!! read more

I have been to the ER several times over the years. My family now knows I would rather die in transit to another hospital than be taken to HMC! No matter what is wrong with you, you will wait at least 5 hrs. I thought I was having a heart attack. They took me to a hall, pointed to a room at the other end, and I NEVER saw another person for 5 hrs!! I didn't have an EKG. I didn't have any tests! I didn't have a nurse check on me! Never saw a doctor! I finally told my dad to take me home. I would rather die at home than there. As we started to leave, a nurse stopped me and told me a couldn't leave without a doctor's premission. What? What doctor? She said she would go get a doctor if I'd just go back and wait! I said no. She wanted me to sign something and I refused. If you want to live....run do not walk to another hospital somewhere, anywhere, else!!! read more

I was admitted to this hospital for 2 1/2 days and I just want to say I had the worst experience I have ever had at a hospital. I don't normally write a review good or bad but this shouldn't go on in a hospital where you put your trust in the staff that they are going to take care of you. I'm not gonna get into great detail at this time because I'm still trying to find out who this person was that literally sat in a chair at the foot of my bed (after I had asked her to leave because of her attitude and rudeness) watching me go into one of the worst panic attacks I have ever had to the point of me being non responsive from not being able to breath and my blood pressure shooting way up. My daughter had to go get another nurse to come in my room to take care of me and got the situation under control. I have never been that scared in my life when I was not able to breath and this nurse just setting there. read more

They didn't do anything more that what was ask of them... I mean they done the minimal! My mom and husband had to KEEP asking them for assistance with helping me with everything like unhooking my IV from the wall just to go to the bathroom, to having to remind them about my meds, or how to turn off lil beeping machines because heaven forbid they hear one go off.. If I could have done it myself there would be no need for a nurse. I am pissed to say the least. You don't even have the convenience of food being brought to your room anymore even if you want it or not... No, you have to call down to the cafeteria and tell them what you want..if you don't call you don't get food. I was really disappointed with the nurses and staff and Never again will I go to Dalton Hospital! read more

Avoid! Avoid! If I could rate it zero, I would. The lack of urgency astounded me. My daughter was sent here by an ophthalmologist to be tested for a possible blockage to her eye. After about 45 minutes, she was taken back, given an arm band, vitals checked, and asked some questions. We were told there were no beds but one should open soon. After a total of two hours waiting with no updates, she still had not been seen by a doctor. The waiting room wasn't full when we got there; so, 2 hours waiting was ridiculous. We went to the front desk and informed them that 2 hours waiting was ridiculous and we were going to another facility in Chattanooga, where she was immediately taken back and tested. The receptionist weakly apologized. I would avoid this facility and drive to Chattanooga for emergency treatment if I lived here. You will be spend more time here than it takes to drive there and get treated. read more

July 2, 2020 my wife had a cerebral aneurysm. While she could still speak she said I have a headache. I think I'm having a stroke. Medics were informed. Erlanger is about 45 mins from our home Hamilton Memorial is about 30 mins. I was told to stay home b/c of covid. I received a call from the e.r. dr. informing me there was no neurolgist on call that she was being flown to Erlanger. My wife would of received treatment much quicker and with less expense if she had of been simply taken to Erlanger. Communication between the e.r. and medics would be a great thing. Now we have 2 e.r. bills, to e.r. dr. bills and 2 radiology bills. I was greatly surprised by the Hamilton Memorial bill of 13200 for aprox. 45 mins then sorry can't help you . Now we are sending you on a 10 min 42,000 helicopter flight. They offered to reduce by 40 percent if I would pay in 30 days. 7900 is still a ridiculous amount and far more then I believe insurance would pay. I believe they are price gouging. In proportion their bills are higher then Erlangers. They should be ashamed to charge self pay individuals more then insurance, medicaid or medicare would pay. At this time they have not been paid. I will settle with a lump sum that is fair. read more

Today I was in the ER this physician assistant has seen me 2 times before. once he told me to drink more water for the pain in my shoulders which in return I seen a specialist that showed I had to have certain shots not water! Today I had to go back he told me he couldn't treat my condition bc it was chronic when my specialist had sent me there and the same physician asst. told me he could only give me the same exact medicine I had in my car! Why would I go pay a major bill for the same medicine I previously had took. Called the director and waiting on call back .WORST PLACE TO GO..YOU WILL NOT BE DIAGNOSED CORRECTLY AND END UP BEING IGNORED IN THE MEAN TIME. BEWARE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! read more
