Like all shops in SSP, Tak Cheung Co obviously understands the value of a good business card - you WILL need help to find the same store twice. But theirs is one of the most helpful I've collected on many visits to the area. In fact, it's the one I present to taxi drivers whenever I go to SSP, just so I know where I am when I start and can orientate myself for the rest of the expedition, kind of. Of course one then has to pop in to the store to see what's on offer ... It would be rude not to.

I am more of a Disney fan and hence head towards the Disney and Tsum Tsum sections. This store also carries Tokyo Disney resort (Disneyland and Disneysea) goods including Unibearsity (Japan only plushies and different clothes). You can either walk in or contact them through their social media sites. If you would like to do overseas shipping, you will need to pay them extra. Currently there are 13 LOG-ON stores in Hong Kong and this location is conveniently located inside the iSquare building in Tsim Sha Tsui. The store is clean and organized and there are plenty of employees around but do not pressure you to buy. I came into the store to just browse, but walked out with some beauty products that I think are slightly cheaper than what you might find at Sasa. It's a great store to find small gift items and greeting cards, they even offer snacks and drinks from around the world.

Also, be aware that not all Log-On stores are the same. Like any chain store, some have more loot than others. We went to one and thought it couldn't get any better, then went to another one and were even more wowed. This location was WOW number one. Aside from having things like pens, backpacks, phone cases and cameras, it also has somewhat of a drug store. They even have supplies for work/lunches for adults and children. My friend likened it to a smaller, cuter, better Target. Just GO!

I got a pair of bunny socks for 12 HK$ and some red envelopes with Cony on them - thanks to Irene for pointing them out! She even went upstairs and found a Cony and Brown notebook set for 30 HK$! Wow! It was on sale because it was the last one. I found a bunny towel that can squish into my luggage. I wasn't able to get any cute containers with Sanrio character... My luggage is packed already! Haha! This store was a bit crowded as aisles are not wide and customers are looking at items and blocking tthe way. There were many interesting finds!

Cheap Lab...IMO reminiscent of Dollar General because of the glaring yellow banner…read more The name was not appealing but the bright lights and what I can assume was non-licensed Disney lunar new year wall signs / decor drew me in. Stitch, Mickey, Donald & Daisy with red and gold Chinese sayings were an easy souvenir pick up. Just a few bucks and everything was reasonably priced. I ended up getting pens I had not seen in the US, some stationary items, keychains, and buy 4 get 1 free sticker. The latter if you are remotely into sticker collection will blow your mind. You have to go downstairs and it is wall to wall sheets of stickers. Every animal imaginable, food, pets, shapes, sports, etc. Averages out to $1.50 USD per sheet; I got 3 different penguin sheets! Score for me. :) The cashier did not speak English but the register display is very large. Worked out fine for me since I only had to pay.

I kind of stumbled into Uber Tunique today drawn by their little window display. Super cute jewelry...necklaces, rings, earrings, pins, etc. Not heavy stuff, but little and light and cute. Lots of product for such a tiny space. All items are reasonably priced. I bought a great little pair of smoky colored crystal earrings for $180HKD. I had a million ideas in my head on how this would be a great store to buy holiday gifts for girlfriends. Unique stuff and again, reasonably priced. They also had a small amount of clothes, candles and other various home stuff. The staff member was friendly, but let me browse without bothering me. She said this store had been open for about a year. Kudos for small business and I thought this little store was darling. I will return when I am in this area of town.

So, this morning we set ourselves to find a simple but pretty basket in Wan Chai. You can find a ton of places that are doing this right now, but it's not so easy to find the right one, as I've found that they look very similar and sometimes too similar. Also, in most instances you can pick what you want from a range of fruits and flowers but the baskets are all the same. As we came down from the Pak Tai Temple in Stone Nullah Lane, we saw this little shop and decided to give it a go. The lovely lady in charge seemed to be in a big hurry, arranging a huge fruits basket, which looked pretty amazing. We asked for a 'basket for the Mid-Autumn Festival' and she said, seemingly sorry to disappoint us that she had run out of fruits! As we were planning to make an order, rather than buying it on the spot, she said she could do it then! We asked for prices and even though they were fair (starting at 600HKD), we hesitated for a second. In the back of our minds, we had a DIY basket, which we considered more special and a nicer present for our great hosts. The lady explained to us that prices of fruits and flowers go up by as much as 40% during this time of the year and recommended us to try one of the stalls in the wet market, for which she even gave us a business card. Their baskets were amazing, and she also sells flowers for special occasions, but I'm mainly reviewing this place because she has really honest and helpful, and even though she was busy, she took the time to explain all that to us.
