Well, I'm absolutely stumped. Why? Because some of the other reviews of this company just do not ring true for me - in the least. Okay, another why. Why is that? Because I have never been treated with such grace. Yes, grace. What is that these days? Many people have absolutely no idea. For me, it is a tantamount of caring professionalism that is exemplified by the collective behavior of every single Hall Ambulance employee I have ever encountered...and this is under the worst of circumstances...THAT is GRACE - to me. The ability to maintain your professional demeanor under fire. Extreme fire. These employees set the bar HIGH. Tough to fill their shoes by any means whatsoever in my view. Just think about the stress of their jobs! OMG! Who can even do that? Not me - oh, no way. Had to be transported to another hospital locally. For a CT scan since the hospital I was at CT scan machine was broken. The hospital used Halls ambulance. Both the driver and other EMT were so sweet. I was in a lot of pain and they moved fast to get me where I was going. I was back to and saw the Dr right away. I remember the names J. SO I typically review ambulance companies from a different perspective. When we fly into a city to pick up a patient we more often than not require an ambulance to pick us up, wait while we stabilize and package, then return us to our plane. If an ambulance wont come (I'm talking to you Reno) we cram about $150-200,000 worth of medical gear into a cab and proceed (we have to have an ambulance once we get our patient to get back though). Crews can be really bad or they can be fantastic. David and Zach of Hall ambulance were fantastic. They were on time, professional, and courteous. They knew exactly what to do and pitched in above and beyond to help us in a bad situation. From the perspective of a pediatric specialty transport team, we can ask for no better. A few days ago we had an emergency at our house in Tehachapi. I called 911, after fifteen minutes and two phone calls later the ambulance arrived behind the fire truck. I overheard the paramedic tell the firefighter they got lost and had to follow them to the scene. The ambulance blasted by my house but drove by. Pretty poor response, just so happens I have an Hall Ambulance company across the street, but no one was there at the time to respond. Called 911 for a elderly woman with possible broken hip being questioned by 911 operator and wondering after being interrogated if a ambulance was on there way must have woke them up same with the fire department which is a couple of blocks a way must have just woke them up to as she is laying there on the ground still questioning I'm wondering when are you guys taking her to a hospital time wise they would get an F they were so slow time wise could not believe how long we waited and then when they did finely showed up they were like in slow motion both the fire department and ambulance service is a joke read more

Paramedics were great-my issue is with billing department especially the coder-manager was a little better. Just posting to see i9f this is common practice and i will give short version= called 911 son was having seizure due to high fever-fire department was first responder and did 98% of the work(advance life care)hooked him up with oxygen/vitals the works-paramedics arrived 10-12mins later-all they did was check his pulse said there wouldnt be a charge for the call awesome i said and thanked them and afterwards proceeded to mercy hospital for follow up. 8 weeks later get a bill from Hall ambulance saying we owe almost $3000 and i payment was already passed due??? i know i said short version lol=said was responsible for the bill and wanted to know if i received check from insurance company?WTH-told her for what?pretty much was told that is how the bill people and that they got my information from 911 call and automatically billed my insurance company what the heck long story short-said i could file a dispute which and what was their response=another bill saying i am now almost 90 days overdue and about to go collections??? after filing complaint with my insurance company and speaking to the manager was told=they bill you according to type of call(not breathing would be advance life services which they did not perform)and they automatically bill you which they did also for night call and checking my sons pulse. they informed me that once they make contact with patient the charges begin-they said the 2600 charge was for them observing the patient??? Keep in mind this is not coming from paramedics -all billing department which they have a protocol for chargeing everyone unless you are on medical i was told next time to have my son transported because it would be the same price even though my bill says non transport services-they also suggeted i sign up for medical to pay the rest of my bill-and yes bianca super coder said yes the bill stands-said insurance is paying 80% and i would like to get $600 removed/waived. I don't understand how hall ambulance can cover all emergency calls and be as garbage as they are!!! My friend died because they wouldn't bring him to the hospital. They came to his house and kept resetting the EKG machine and saying everything else is good. What do you want to do Dan? He said take me to the fn hospital in dieing and they wouldn't take him. His dad told the them if you're not taking him then I will and they helped get him into his dad's vehicle. I took my son to the Kaiser Urgent care facility on Stockdale - where they did not have a pediatrician available. The attending doctor requested that my son be taken by ambulance to the hospital around the corner (literally a 5 min ride) This was not medically necessary. They put my son in the back of an ambulance and drove him around the corner. I received a $2,400 medical bill from Hall - FOR ABSOLUTELY nothing. I do not understand how it is legal for them to take advantage of patients. Everytime their billing department calls - they are rude and not helpful. Stellar ambulance company unfortunately we had to have an ambulance on 2 occasions during the holidays. Hall came both times. they were prompt efficient and just get the job done. Hall doesn't accept any insurance! They charge ridiculous prices and even if you have really good insurance, you'll be on the hook for thousands of dollars. My insurance reimbursed the full amount of a fair price, which was about a third of what Hall charged! Why doesn't Hall take any insurance?!? How can they get away with charging so much and local citizens in Kern County don't have any other options or choices?!? read more

I want to commend Hall Ambulance, and especially David and Steve, the team of Ambulance #84 for their excellent, quick and highly professional service! Shortly after 4AM, this morning, my wife called 911, I had apparently passed out on my way to the restroom. These gentlemen were at the door of our RV in just a few minutes. They handled the situation with utmost professionalism and assurance that I would be in the ER in just a few minutes; after a 10 minute drive I was checked into ER at 4:40AM. Their kindness and professionalism was extended to my wife as well which I so greatly appreciate. Hall Ambulance is horrible!!!!! Can I use negative stars?? Took them 20 minutes to reach my sister who was laying in the street with a dislocated ankle and broken in 3 places! No sirens, no lights, no sense of urgency! I called Hall Ambulance and got a "sorry" we are told by 911 whether or not to use sirens and lights. Blamed their delayed time on traffic. Had they used sirens and lights they would have been there sooner! Absolutely unacceptable!!! read more

This review is for the collections coordinator. May I say what a bitter and rude person you are. My father was in a terrible car accident on August 4th and was rushed from San Joaquin to kern medical. The ERT's were amazing. Bless them. Well, my father kept getting bills and we were told it was taken care of by his insurance a month ago. Now, we get a final demand notice stating the bill would go to collections. I called the collections coordinator immediately. From the minute she answered the phone she had major attitude and talked down to me like I was some idiot that should have known my dad had a copay with his insurance. I can't stand a rude person and this is the last thing we need to deal with after a traumatic event. read more

@Justin H. Ambulance service fee's are NOT set by the ambulance provider (Hall) they are set by the county. So the ambulance company can not raise any fees just because they have a very small competition group. read more

Don't call them!!! Horrible care! Unprofessional and unethical. They were called to transport a pregnant woman having a severe asthma attack to the hospital. Upon arrival they removed her personal breathing treatment and said she would have to walk to the ambulance in order to get oxygen. They also would not give her inhauler to her- any person knows lack of oxygen to any human specifically a baby in the womb is life threatening and can cause brain damage! They were beyond horrible. Hall Ambulance Service, Inc.responded to a call from my roommate after a series of seizures. I awoke in an ambulance being restrained and pinned to the gurney. The SUPERVISOR claimed I was NOT being violent & that I was being restrained because I did not want to go to the hospital & that they were "tired" of coming to my apartment for seizure calls. After pleading with them for several minutes & AGREEING to go to hospital, they radioed 911 & claimed I was REFUSING to go to hospital. Bakersfield Police Department responded to said call & informed my roommate that they had made an "intolerable" (19 to be exact) amount of 911 calls. BOTH emergency response units claimed my seizures were not real because I "have too many". They each made derogatory & humiliating comments to me regarding my disability. They threatened me, a 19 year old woman, with calling my FATHER. This goes against HIPPA AND Hall Ambulance Service Policies. My head is pounding, my roommates are livid, my body is exhausted. As for Hall Ambulance? You'll be hearing from my lawyer. Do better. Train better. Teach empathy. And above all, don't you DARE attempt to break the rules & laws when you're dealing with the daughter of a former employee of your own fucking staff. I know you don't have to be very intelligent to hold the position you do, but for fucks sakes I thought you at the very least required an IQ to begin with. What a shame. EDIT: I also forgot to mention, the Hall Ambulance SUPERVISOR who removed me from my apartment claimed I would then be arrested for public intoxication. When I explained to him that I had been drinking only in my home, (and not drinking much at all), he taunted me & said "how do you know you're not in your home now? what kind of epileptic knows where they are after a seizure?" Mind you, I was very clearly in an ambulance, it had been over twenty minutes since my last seizure, and I had been coming to while they removed me from my home. Hall Ambulance drove SEVERAL miles out of their way to transport my husband from one local hospital to another for no apparent reason. He even asked the drivers why they weren't taking the shorter route. One of the techs replied that this is "their route" and "you sure know your town." Duh, he grew up here. After receiving the exorbitant bill, I asked for a list of the individual charges since they were not included with the bill. Never received them so I asked again as we did want to pay for the service we received but not more than was justified. As they continued calling to collect, they ignored my request for the breakdown of charges but did admit they do charge by the mile. And they ignored the fact that their drivers took a much longer route than necessary when I reported this. They ended up sending us to collections and the collection agency even tried to get a breakdown of the charges on our behalf. Still, no such luck. Now the collection agency, at the request of Hall's Ambulance, has reported ME, not my husband who was the patient, to the credit bureau. Obviously I'm the one asking for proof of the charges so I'm the one who gets reported. Just wow. read more

I always get rude emts yesterday was the worst I have a bruise on my arm from the force of them trying to throw my off the gerney at the hospital also I have a heart condition amount a lot of medical issues .they took me from my home chest pains made me take off my robe put me in a room filled with people tried to rush me to stand I haven't walked in months told me u should of changes my clothes before they got there very non caring people they then said nothing was wrong with me i was walking all over my house..it got real bad i got mouthy at them I can't take chances with a bad heart...very bad rude non caring employee's I did file a complaint..the manager said he would get back with me today never happened....we feel like contacting an attorney it's that bad only twice have we gotten good service...oh the driver almost rolled us in the dirt could not stay in his lane awful thought I was going to die before I got to the hospital...just crappy don't give a crap employeess... read more

Kenny Sir. May I ask what you do for a living? Because honestly making a comment like that about sirens and air horns is ridiculous. To be quite honest I think it is bad ass hearing that, not just because it sounds cool but to know that they are Racing to save someone's life! Obviously you don't understand how busy and congested this city is. If you would take the time and do some research before you start making negative comments about a company especially an EMS 911 company you would understand why they have loud sirens. I mean come on man. Would you like it if you or your loved one was having a major medical problem such as a heart attack and someone complained about the loudness of the sirens so they took them off and now that ambulance is stuck behind a bunch of vehicles that are not paying attention or don't know the rules of the road and don't know what side of the street to pull over on!! I mean everyone has been or should have been taught what to do when emergency vehicles are around when they were in drivers training bit some how just end up forgetting. Also If you looked at them as well and saw if they were completely blocked in at an intersection they turn their sirens off but keep the lights one so the Emergency Vehicle Preemption or Opticom in the light bar can change the signal.than once it's green or safe they will turn the sirens back on. Also with all this new high tech radio sound system stuff people have in their cars you can not even hear the sirens over the music! The reason I know that is because I have a sound system in my vehicle and that is the reason ALL companies and fire departments are changing their sirens to be louder to make everyone more aware. This company is just ahead with the new versions. Bakersfield is just about the equivalent to LA city when it comes to 911 calls. With the amount of emergency personnel Bakersfield has and with the call volume it has it is almost as bad as LA city EMS. So why don't you go take a trip to LA city in rush hour and listen to the ambulances and fire trucks down there and go from there. I'll help you out a little bit,, so the CHP and the DOT have certain Guidelines set for none government EMS companies such as Hall to operate with lights and sirens. Every unit you see on the road goes through a bunch of test before they are allowed to operate on the road and that cost thousands and thousands of dollars. Plus the sirens and air horn you hear are the same ones that are on every other ambulance company across the country. Some have more some have less. So come on stop complaining about people that are trying to help and start complaining about crime or air quality or better yet do something that will help make Bakersfield a safer place to live!! read more

Had to call the ambulance for my daughter who was celebrating her 44th b-day. She had drank to much and we were afraid she had alcohol poisoning. When they got there she was really incoherente. She could answer a question then black out again then couldn't answer the next one. Because she was 44 and could answer a question here or there they said she had to consent to being taken even tho her dad ,husband and I was there. When I tried to talk to her and tell her she need to let them take her to the hospital the emt got in my face and told me to back off and get away. I have never been treated this rude and in front of all my family and friends. This is a stressful time for family members and should not be treated like crap from a punk emt. This company was so gentle, kind and reassuring during my need for an ambulance....twice. They talked with me and got me laughing. The bill was high, sure....insurance covered part of it, but they made reasonable payment arrangements with me that we can afford each month and the fact that I had nerve damage that was minimized by their quick response is something that I am willing to pay for. They guarded me physically and mentally while I was in their care, making sure that even though I was in a nightgown I was covered and warm and kept me chatting so i didn't focus too much on the pain I was in. read more
