Depending on who the case worker is, 7 out of 10 times they have been helpful even in the instances in which the worker does not qualify and or qualifies with limitations. I most recently filed a letter of concern with WCB against a former place I worked 'cause prior to my departure a few technicians raised some concerns with me over safety. This in conjunction with safety funding requests made to my boss at the time, all of which were rejected but one (first aid kit) were rejected due to financing (which was BS 'cause even though he claimed there was no money, he was buying trips to Germany to see his son etc.). I mostly did this once again for the two technicians that I cared about who raised said concern with me. I used some documentation between my boss and I as cause for them to come down. Good news is that they were in the clear. It was one of the few times in which I was thankful, however, they did a general inspection not a specific one in relation to the safety regulations set out by the Ministry of Environment.

It costs $1 to cross, and that's worth it when it comes right down to it. It offers a great perspective on the harbour, just don't let your eyes wander, you don't want to cause that accident that holds the other thousands of people up! Enjoy!

Came here on an open house day for a free tour…read more Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the house as well as the various paintings and artifacts. Tour took approximately 20 mins. Staff were nice and welcoming.

Seems weird to write a review about a library…read more.. I mean it's a building with books. Can't really screw that up I suppose. However this is my neighborhood library and I happen to like it quite a bit. I've got a special place in my heart for the struggling small neighborhood libraries and prefer them over the larger ones in the heart of a city. This one is nestled in the middle of the Gottigen crossroads of lower income families and the large condo corporations trying to push them out and make room for the "it's cool to be Ghetto" upper class citizens. There is nothing fancy about this library. But there is a sense of community when you walk in. People who come here, live here. That's what I like about it. You'll find your selection of books to be a little lacking because of size but with the ability to have books/dvd(s) transferred within a few days it won't take long to get that book you've got on your "must read" list. Computers are available and wifi is free (which is good if you're on a budget and don't have a computer at home). I'm excited about the new library going up in place of the Spring Garden location but Gottigen will always be my favorite.

You of course need a library card to use it however. They also have designated hours in the computer lab for adults and designated times for kids which is good. The kids time is 3pm-6pm and the adults is, well, every other place. The most unique part about this library in particular is that it has a large section of African American history, especially local history. So they support community history which is very important and something I don't see enough of in my library travels. But the place also feels like a community. There are "regulars" that definitely go there all the time because everyone seems to know each other. The staff are generally quite friendly and definitely very helpful as well. This library has everything you'd expect but also supports community history which surprised me. They have a friendly, supportive atmosphere and more than enough to keep me interested. If you are in the area, stop on by.

The Halifax War Memorial is located in the courtyard of Grand Parade square in downtown Halifax…read more This memorial which was unveiled on Remembrance day, 1929 was erected to honor and immortalize the memories of the Canadian forces who died during WWI, WWII and the Korean war. I attend the Remembrance day service held at The Cenotaph every year and every year I'm moved to tears by how beautiful it is. Having this towering memorial in the downtown area is a great reminder during all times of the year (not just one day in November) to be thankful.

I couldn't wheel myself but a person from just inside the door got me registered and took me to X-ray. First time we went there. Much easier to go there than the VG since quite close to us. Can go in wheelchair if have to since Access A Bus not always available. Nice bright building. There are stairs if you can use them but also there are elevators to upper floors. X-ray , blood work, Eye clinic, Palliative Care etc are all on ground floor. A Starbucks is there for those who need a break.
