My husband and I took advantage of free admission to Government House on Doors Open and I am so glad we finally went! The tours were quite crowded with tourists, but I didn't mind at all because I was giddy with excitement almost the entire time. I could've spent so much longer inside then what we were given!
To start off with there was an actor and actress outside of the house dressed in period clothing welcoming us to the house. Then you walk in and are greeted by so many beautiful portraits, sculptures, pieces of furniture... it's lovely. As a lover of history I was really in my element, though I admit that seeing where the Queen sleeps when she visits Halifax was very strange. read more
